Best I mean the VERY BEST VIDEO I've seen and I've been hunting and watching this subject for 2 weeks now!!! Thanks!!!!
Thank you for watching and the comment đ
This is a great video sir. Hands down one of the best videos on doing this job. Easy to follow step by step. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for watching nd the kind words đ
@@JM8686 where you located.
I agree great video
đ
Couldnât agree more. Phenomenal step by step. Thank you!
You mean you have to do all this work to remove a lifter this is incredible
General motors doing bad with these engines.
Thank you for your explanation. This men saved me at least $1500! I traveled from California to Tx for Christmas then this clicking noise 0:20 started. My 2015 premium Cadillac Escalade 6.2L has exact same engine so I opened up 0:49 valve cover and noticed the push rod on cylinder 4 looked different from rest then when I took it out 15:34 it was bended due to collapsed lifter. When head was removed and lifter pulled out I checked camshaft through the hole and luckily it didnât get scratched or damaged by lifter. (Only drove truck for a few days when noise started).
Took me 2 days to remove and install everything taking my time. (Had to remove 16:08 exhaust manifold wish was a pain 17:25 and go under truck to remove 3 bolts with angled adapter and extension for ratchet. Replaced gaskets for valve cover and engine head also oil pressure sensor under intake manifold and all new spark plugs since I took half of them off also added more coolant.
Once done engine didnât start right away it took a few tries, then some white smoke on exhaust and vibration and then all normal and running like before.
This is a common issue for this type of AFM 8cylinder switching to 4 cylinder gmc engines. I just bought the device that disables this engine mode to have all 8 cyl running all the time to avoid more collapsed lifters in future since itâs a possibility. I donât mind spending more gas on v8 mode rather that replacing my engine in the future.
Some videos have a pile of gaskets, and o rings. I like your style
This is one of the best automotive how to videos Iâve seen. This helped me tear down my 2016 silveradoâŠand Iâm no mechanic!
đđđđ
Making it look easy. I'm thinking I can change the heads to my 2014 Sierra myself now. I'll watch this a couple more times and give it a try.
You got this man đ
Good videoâŠone step I skipped was removing the fuel railâŠI took the head off with it in head just unplugged it..another was to leave the exhaust manifold in tooâŠjust un bolt it and pull it off to the side with a ratchet strap. .. make sure the holes in ur lifters are facing same way when u put them back in the trays!
One of the best shown videos I have seen on here bro keep the good work up man you make a hard job look easy and more understanding thanks for your videos
This is the clearest video teaching me what to do.. Thank U sir you just saved me lots of $$
Great Video! Probably the best one I have seen, step by step with pointers too.
Thank you so much for the video. You are awesome. I know with the help of your video I will definitely be able to fix my fathers truck.
I like how you even went into detail how to remove the harness clips. Sometimes those clips give me a harder time than the whole job.
Thanks for watching and the comment đ
What a great video! Thank-you so much for taking the time to make it!
Straight to the point!! Excellent job man!!
I want to thank you for your video. I'm driving my 2016 5.3 Silverado again because of you. You made it look easy and it was somewhat easy for ever doing it. It took me about 14 hours with all hand tools.

@@paulmorgan62 mine made a ticking nose after passing someone on the interstate and it got worse I bought the range that keep it in v8 mode that helped for a while than the ticking got worse . I tore in to the motor and it was the one 4 cylinder on the intake side the dod Lifter
@@paulmorgan62 No the only lifters I changed were the DOD lifters On the one side
What lifters did you buy because I have a 2016 as well and I bought the set on Amazon put them in and still having the same problem spent about 17 hrs on complete tear down and putting it back together and now I have to do it again đ
@@Selfmade9oh9 I went to advanced auto and got the most expensive ones they have. There were seventy five dollars a piece
@@Selfmade9oh9 It took me with hand tools no air tools 7 hours to take the passenger side head off and put all back together. I do know mechanic work i'm not a mechanic though it's fairly easy
Excellent tutorial! I have Learned very much. THANK YOU for your time!
Than you my man đ
Damn bro. This is the most detail video ever. Great job!
đ
YOU ARE THE MAN! LITERALLY. I really appreciate this video. Thanks alot.
Dude, Bad ass video! Very well done, best Iâve seen. Fully shown and explained. Liked & subscribed. đ
Thank you brother đ
Great video saved money I didn't have. Dealer wanted me to buy new engine at $13000 other shops wanted minimum $10,000. Turned out my litters were not collapsed it was one bad injector flooding one cylinder bank 2.
Wow! How do you know if it's the injectors? And is that easier to replace?
best video i have watched on how to, thumbs up, bro i have a 2017 suburban with a ticking noise, cilynder 4 misfire and rough idle, probably one lifter
Thanks for watching nd the comment đ
I just wanted to say thanks. This is a great video and you make a great teacher.
Thank you for watching nd the comment đ
Excellent video! You are very methodical in your approach! Thank you!
Thank you for watching sir đ
Amazing video with great explanation! Thanks a lot, helped me a ton
I see why I'm paying 5200 canadian dollars to have this done. I watched this video to see if I could do the other side myself. Might need some assistance lol. Thanks for the video!
I'm getting ready to change my buddy's lifters today. Good video, I do all my own work, and alot of side work on days off and weekends from my full time job. I grew up in a garage so I learned really young. But I just don't let any jobs intimidate me. I started out on small jobs then started working my way up to motor work, now I've been doing it long enough, I know how to get myself out of messes or any hiccups along the way. It also helps having the right tools and a good collection of tools. The swivels with the ball joint in it are the best too, the u joint type will bind up if to much angle is put into it. Tools are expensive, but it's half the battle having the right equipment to work with
Good job bro u made it look so easy thanks God bless you!!!
Perfect explaining and details out pointed. Thanks đ€

Really enjoy the video. Knowledge is power. God bless đđđ
Beast of a video bro , much appreciated đŻđđŸđđŸ
Your video helped so much thank you. I did a dod delete on my 15 sierra and lifter still failed after 35k miles. Had ls7 lifters after dod and it actually made it worse than if I would have had to hydraulic lifters. The roller fell in the oil pan đŹ don't trust these trucks at all anymore
đ
A plus tutorial video holmes. Masterfully done.
Thank you for the kind words and for watching đ
Great video well explained inspires confidence.
Thanks for watching đ
Great video. Pretty much did almost all the removal with one hand lol Again, thanks for making this video đ€
Wow great tear down. That far into the engine I would do the other side too and get the best possible lifters on the market. Super good video! Complements to you sir!
Wouldnt the best lifters be the OEM GM lifters? Or are there aftermarket lifters with better quality?
@Amokof EOM only
Great video. Thank you for taking the time to do this.
Thanks for watching nd the comment my friend đ
Hello sir good day please I have one question to ask you , I have Cheng one like this and after like three weeks the same problem come back again with the same number please what can be the problem ?
You have to make sure the cam not rounded,of cam is good ,you have to replace the valley pan đ
Wow this video is impressive, thank you!!
Iâm pretty sure this is my issue. Thanks for the video
That was such a helpful video, thank man

Take those off. Those off. And the baby's coming off đ love it. Good video man. Thanks for taking the time. Really helped me!
Thanks for the comment compa đ
Awesome video. I think Iâll be tackling this in the next week or two. So now how do we go about checking the cam shaft to make sure itâs not been wiped?
Do you remember how many miles this truck had when this happened? Awesome video!
FACK IT! I love it. Lmao doing this job on my suburban now thanks to you!
Great video!! Thanks
Great vid. Keep um coming.
Thanks đ€
What a Great video....thank you Sir.
Great job! Really good video
Thank you đ
Appreciate this sir, great video
thanks bro keep up the great content
great job. and OMG at all the mm switches you had to do.....I would have had to make a cheat sheet map to know what goes back together in which order.....Question is it seems like the only lifters that can get stuck is the DOD ones with springs, correct? Do you have to replace them with more lifters with springs? can you put regular lifters in the 4 old springed ones? just wondering....I was told by my GMC mechanic that my lifter problem is due to a faulty pin in the lifter spring. Can you show us that?
Awesome video my 14 sierra is misfiring on cylinder 6 mechanic said its got carbon build up can i just do one head assembly.
10,000 miles after fix, still running strong. With the AFM Range Technologies disabler, I am getting 2 mpg less, but well worth it!
How did you disable the AFM?

This is a good educational video sounds like a guy I know KJ
Awesome video. Thanks.
Good video man thank you so much
Great video series I followed your cam swap series and they were a great help in installing my cam on my 15 Sierra l83. I recently finished everything up had my ECM tuned and I am getting error codes for coil control circuit on cylinders 1,3 and 5 Iâve moved plugs and wires around checked for loose connections including the two grounds on the drivers side head. Just curious if you had heard of anything like this or had any insight to what could be going on? Thanks again for the great videos.
What did you find out?
đđŒđđŒđđŒđđŒ well explained thanks !
Great Video. Thanks!
đ
Excellent video
Thank you đ
Good job good information
Good Stuff Man. Thanks
Thanks đ
Great video!
You made that think look easy i am still struggling to take off the fule rails is there any chance i can take the head out with the fuel rails inside?
Great video! If I were to do this on a 2019 Silverado LT would it be similar enough to this?
My 2017 60,000 mile has a tick but goes away after warms up . Warranty is up so should a try Seafoam for now since it goes away or just tear it down
I have cylinder 4 misfire, replaced coil, plugs and wires, still misfiring. So i pulled off the intake to replace the fuel injector. I overrode the starter relay to have a look at the lifters and found the culprit. The cylinder 4 lifter is not moving. Would this video be your conclusion to my problem. Replace the lifter on number 4. I have pretty much the same engine 2015 silverado 5.3 1500 Lt
Bro thank you so much!!
Good job
19:52 - you look comfortable! BTW, we once had a 1984 Chevy celebrity, 4.3 L diesel, that needed new head gaskets. Because it was front wheel drive, the engine was sideways. Removing the one closer to the radiator was a lot easier than removing the other one.
I know every car is different but if you ever get to this message!!! Can a lifter bake and get stock on crank shaft? And there for it keeps it from turning ! And makes is seem like itâs lucked up ?
That is a damn good video.
I have a 2016 Chevy suburban in the process of changing out my fuel injectors.I broke one of the tips of the injectors. And the tip fell into the injector port.Any ideas of how to get it out without taking the head off
I have a failed lifter in both heads. My question is what am I looking for if I take it all apart and find I need a new camshaft? What would it look like?
I have a weird tick noise on the driver's side bank. Really loud around 2k rpm. 2016 sierra 5.3. But no misfire codes.
On the driver side you have dod/amf on #1 and #7 cylinders first nd last! If is not a collapsed lifter then you have a bad camshaft
What tools did you use to remove the 15" headbolts did you use a wrench or a electric impact?
@JM8686 Are the parts listed in the description the same ones I need to order for my truck? I have 2015 silverado 5.3 1500 Lt with active fuel management. Everything you have done in this video pretty much describes my problem down to a T only cylinder 4 had the misfire. My push rod fell down. Kinda looks broken too? I am pulling it apart tm, Any thoughts?
was your push rod broke or bent?
I have the tick sound only when I start the vehicle first time , stays for 2 minutes and then went nice regular sound , should I have a lifters problem?
"Boom" good video bro
Thanks for watching đ
I need to do this work on my GMC Yukon, Would it be possible to bring this work to you.. Thanks.
I might need to replace the lifters on the driver side. Do you recommend replacing both sides? Also do I need to drain the coolant if Iâm only doing the driver side?
Really good video! Extremely thorough! "No cheap shit"
Thanks for the comment đ
Great video bro. Gave me the confidence to dig in and save labor costs. However... Will the rocker always be floppy? I got the side off that I thought was the issue but none are floppy like your vid. Also where in cali? I'm in Fresno.
Thanks for watching nd the comment, if the lifters are loose that means you have an dod/afm lifter collapsed! Try to get the truck running without the valve cover nd make sure all the rocker arms moves up and down,if they all move then one of you're lifters spin and you need a camshaft!!

I have a misfire on cylinder 7 is it the same tear down ?
Oraley
Loved it
đ
good job amigo
Thanks sir,appreciate the comment đ
You should teach a class! Great work!
đ
I think I have a bad lifter on the driver side and I'm about to tackle it and start getting into it. I'm just curious if you have to do all this on the driver side as you did on passenger minus the alternator. Great video. Thanks
Yeah it's kinda the same brother
...a eso le llamo yo! ser chingon ,saludos amigo desd Dalas Tx !
Gracias i saludos desde California
ty papichulo ju are de best

What shopping list would I need to replace only lifter #4? I would get both #4 lifters, head gasket, valve cover gasket. Anything else? New guide basket necessary?
You would also need that high pressure fuel lines too
did you use an impact to remove the head bolts?
Do I have to be in top dead center to remove the head
What's the head bolt removal pattern so it wont warp the head.
Awesome explanation, thank you
great video what does something like that cost parts and labor for both sides
Over 2k using dealer parts
Nice video very informative only have one question when you removed the rocker arms were they under load can I removed them just like that or I have to rotate crank to specific position ?
You can remove them just like that ,no need to rotate the crank
JM8686 thanks
great job explaining things. the default position of the AFM lifter is fully expanded at all times until truck is running and a condition is set to make it go to 4 cylinder mode? Do I understand that correctly?
Idk if you ever got your answer, but Iâll give it to you anyways.
What essentially happens is that the ECM tells the VLOM(Valve lifter oil manifold) to add oil through the solenoids for the AFM cylinders. The oil then forces the latching pins in to the body of the lifter, which allows the inner portion of lifter to remain stationary, and outer portion to follow the path of the camshaft.
By it collapsing, it is no longer able to change based on what the ECM is telling it to do.
@@Seantherightway06 thank you
Dumb question but how many head bolts are there total for both sides?
My 6.2 has cyclinder number 4 with no compression and needs lifters. Iâm gonna do them all what would you charge for that kinda job?

We have a 2012 GMC Sierra z71 with lifters making a lot of noise. Our mechanic shop said they wonât take the engine apart to fix it. A new engine would cost a lot of money. Could we do this same procedure to our truck to fix it?
Yes sir same procedure
