- In this satisfying video you will see two new amazing mini dam constructions. Real water poured behind miniature constructions with LEGO minifigures until failure of the dams. This structure is built of mini bricks with cement and shows a dam burst or dam collapse.

@@overtheatlas "Cement" is just a binding agent - not to be confused with "Concrete". I know in the U.S. the two words are synonymous to most people, but it's incorrect.

I find it fascinating how you can accurately simulate soil liquefaction like this. The first dam seemed to be sealed up decently enough, though the foundation on one side was leaking considerably, but when you look closely at the soil just underneath the foundation you can see that the soil gives way before the dam itself does. Gnarly stuff!

It looks like the effect for each dam was roughly the same.
I think the flanks/sides should have more of a solid bonding agent and the more center area should have a weaker solution cause on both dams the right side caved just at different water levels. Also I mean right side, from the camera perspective that looks at it outside the chamber to inside the chamber.
Fun video nonetheless but just food for thought.

@@KingOfDams lol thanks, when I was in school growing up, dams were one of the random things I learned on my own time cause I thought it was a really cool subject.
Plus I use to do somewhat similar stuff though on a very much smaller scale lol.

Could the sand be filtered while you have it stirred up to get the really small particles out? Would it increase the under water quality? Would filtering it out mess up the experiment?

There is a reason for the brick dam collapsing. 1.water pressure that’s something that’s always going to be there. 2. I observed that the cement you were using was eroding away, it’s partly the cement and water pressure. Maybe a different kind of glue would make stand longer.
I agree with you. I used a dissolvable analogue of cement to simulate the behavior of the dam for many years.

Great job!!! But The secret is to make a semicircle structure, glued dots of instantaneous glue with bicarbonate of soda. Reinforce the side base well with this glue, with many layers. Strong ever.
This mixture is very strong and quick, a drop of instant glue and pour bicarbonate of soda over it. It's really dries immediately and much stronger than the instant glue alone.
Maybe should you try this.

I'm not sure what the point is, no dams are built that way.
I guess it shows how a brick wall may hold up in a flood, except brick walls aren't build that way either.
