This movie actually has Irving Berlin himself singing “Oh How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning.” It’s great fun.

This was the perfect Memorial Day 🇺🇲🧨🎆 movie for me!!! I am a 66 yrs old singer, dancer, front person for the band n entertainer in all kinds of venues, from ballet 🩰 to burlesque, and the acrobatics, impressions, comedy, drag, tap dancing n singing were the best varieties of entertainment that are all purely American as apple 🍎 pie!!!! This whole film is a tribute to the genius of Irving Berlin. It's quite extraordinary that he wrote all these songs, and not a dud among them.
Alan Hale....is he the guy that played Casey Jones ?. Here in England we had that show on a Saturday morning in the early 70s.

💖 PizzaFlix ~ 😟 To answer your, "Why isn't anyone watching this great movie?", question, regarding, "The Brave One" ... I'll share my thoughts with you: 😟
The poster shows a little boy hugging his beloved pet (?) bull & crying ... I called a reference librarian & asked her to check somehow to tell me if the bull gets stabbed or (worse) dies. (I couldn't ask you cuz CZcams shut off the commz). Told her if the bull dies, then I can't watch it (can't go through another "Old Yeller" - but with horns - ordeal cuz that movie still haunts me).😟
Librarian put me on hold a wee bit, then she said that Wikipedia said that there IS blood, but the bull does NOT die.😟 Whew!? Maybe other people have had the same sentiments.🤷♀️
I will now try to watch it this weekend, if I can get to the point that I feel tuff-enuff to deal with seeing that bull getting stabbed by the bullfighter's sword (ascertained the bullfighting ring bleachers in the poster's background) & then also remembered that by accident I once saw fleeting news footage of a bull running in a bullfighting ring with 8-10-12 long swords stabbed into its body - all over its body!!! - & the bullfighter was preparing to stab the bull again with yet another sword!!!😟😥 Closed my eyes fast, but too late = traumatized me ... can still see it.😟😥😭
Hoping this film won't be too sad & that I can actually make it all the way through the film. I am Viking, except when it comes to animals.😟 Extremely nervous about watching, "The Brave One" ... sorry 😥🍕😥 ... I WILL try to muster up the courage ... but fear I may fail ... realllyyy NOT feeling very confident I can do it.😟

Hi Barbara 🍕I’m with you. Normally I wouldn’t post a film that glorifies animal cruelty, but this is actually an anti-Bull Fighting movie. I understand your thoughts I lost my best friend/dog last Oct 17, and my baby/cat May 8. I may have seen this film when I was kid, but couldn’t watch it now. I did see many scenes when working on it for the post. “The Brave One” won an Oscar for Best Story, that’s no small feat. 🍕🍕🍕

I, also, lost my best friend & playmate woofer - Lucky was my 15½-year-old Old English Sheepdog/Bearded Collie/Irish Wolfhound mix from the Humane Society that someone abandoned on a highway when he was only four weeks old ... so our bond was intense. I'd had dogs my whole life, since I was three, but Lucky was different = major bond: swimming, hiking, metal-detecting adventures (his backpack carried my little tools & our water & picnic foods), carnivals, county fairs, animal barns, flea markets, daily walks & hour-long fetch plays - he luvvved winter's snow, biking, Frisbee (champion flips in the air). Plus, he protected me from predator guys & dangerous dogs several different times - my beautiful sqeakie-teasin' scamp comedian truly was special to me (he E-VON intuitively saved his puppy-sitter's baby's life!). OK ... I'll stop gushing. Lol!
My Lucky crossed the Rainbow Bridge on January 9, 2010 & although 13 years have passed, it seems like yesterday & my heart breaks all over again for missing him every time I think of him, which is daily. 💦💔💦
I don't want to scare you 🍕 cuz the deep heartbreak morphs somehow, so that athough the pain never goes away, it becomes EZR to live with ... & your happy memories WILL over-rule your current sorrow. 💝 Thanks, again,🍕 for your consideration.🌞

I've loved this movie for many years and I just watched it again here...
but with the minstrel number (Mandy) cut. Regardless the reason, it's a great song and a terrific production number. I've found a complete version of the movie elsewhere and am saving it to watch again sometime.

The Allies took a terrible pounding at the start of World War Two, and films like this and "Yankee Doodle Dandy" from the year before were designed to boost both morale and War Bonds sales. Berlin dusted off a song from 1939, put some new lyrics to it, and got Kate Smith to sing it again. "God Bless America", often referred to as the second National Anthem, was the centerpiece to the film. With the mighty Warner orchestra and chorus, it still holds it's power today.
