  • This video shows how I installed a power outlet in the center console of 2012 Ram 2500. There was a blank/cap in my console. I removed it and behind the cap was hollowed out as if another trim package used the same console, but had other options. So after five years of ownership, I ordered a USB outlet and wired it up. Let me know if your console has an outlet in it from factory.
    Thanks for watching!

Thanks for posting this! I have a 2003 Ram 3500. That outlet is live in my truck and was factory installed. Now, I wanted to change it from the power outlet type to the USB, but I had no clue how to get to the outlet and wiring. Now I see I have to remove that upholstery with the piping. That is such a big help, Thanks!

I’m very happy it helped you out. I use it every day to power my phone. These plugs are nicely lit making them easily found at night. My service to our country was my duty and my pleasure. Thank you sir for watching and giving feedback!

Thanks. This video made me think I could trace 2015 console usb port wires to under driver seat and tapped into that for amp remote wire.

Thanks for watching. I wouldn’t see why not. If that’s where the harness would have it, should be just fine. There’s all sorts of wires and plugs under my seat that aren’t being used because I have manual, non heated seats, but the harnesses are all there. Now you make me want to start probing wires and looking for voltage! Thanks a lot! As if I wasn’t busy enough, look what you just added to my list!! Haha! Thanks again for watching.

So, I was thinking of putting a usb/hdmi port in the same location on my truck to run to my Pioneer double din head unit. I had a safety detail in the parking garage of a local high rise apartment building and was not thrilled to find out that apple CarPlay doesn’t support the Netflix app... Strangely enough, my research took me here! Good to know we still think alike my friend! I got bit by the modding bug not long after my cross country trip with the Beast! I have a battery tender from Norco that I’ll be installing soon! Funny to stumble across your videos! Great minds think alike! Strong work Brother!

Thank for watching bro. The USB in the center console has been a blessing. I’ve thought about switching out my factory double din radio for a touch screen/DVD player. Would’ve been great for those over night details! I’ve come across a few adapters for apple that didn’t work with Netflix or Amazon video and one of them was an apple lightning plug to HDMI adapter. You’ve got to do a ton of research and review reading before dropping the dough. Let me know if I can help you out at all.
The battery tender was added assurance that when coupled with the block heater, I knew the truck would start during those 20 degree below nights. I’m glad you finally got the beast and I know it will be well taken care of. God bless you and stay safe brother. Call anytime you want.

Jarrod, I am more interested in the fuse box you built. Can you do a walkthrough on that?

Bill Crozier Hey Bill, thanks for watching. I can do that for you! I’ll try my best to make it short and to the point. The weather here hasn’t been cooperating lately. One day it’s 70 degrees, the next day it’s snowing.

The power terminal to the front of the center console, did you install that yourself? If so how?

Tj & Ja I would love to have put 110v in but haven’t found a way to make it neat and provide a useful amount of wattage. I want a Keurig in the armrest!! Kidding, but I have old laptops that I use to program Motorola radios and they’re power hungry. I had a 300 watt inverter that wasn’t enough for the laptop unless the truck was tiny and DC voltage was above 14v. So where did you end up installing this 110v??
