Nice. One thing I'd like to see Catalina do is upgrade their energy system. Lose the AGM/lead acid batteries, use LiFePO4 batteries, and consider moving to 48VDC electrics, as this is the new vehicle standard. The davit is important too, as most of us don't walk on water, and must use a dingy. :-)

As a Catalina owner, I can appreciate your description of the Catalina! I have owned 2 Catalina's now and would love to buy a brand new one some day... I would recommend to anyone looking at one to contact you as you obviously know the brand.
You can’t beat a Catalina for value and utility for sure, I’ve sailed most of their models but the 385 looks great inside. I will say I agree with some of the comments regarding somewhat more luxurious models by Jenneau and Beneteau but then you get what you pay for. No doubt this Catalina will still be go8mg strong when the others are in disrepair. Affordable, functional, but honestly I feel like I’m touring a 260, they all look more or less the same. That said, yes I would take this model any day.

We have a Catalina 380 and just love her. But we want to move up slightly. I’m like many Catalina owners- love the build quality but the designs need to be more like Jeanneau’s deck salons. I worry that in listening to their older customers Catalina are becoming the Buick of sailboats. Having said that, if we could find an earlier 445 we’d buy in a heartbeat.
Beautiful boat hope the price will be accessible, that way we don't need to go outside the US to buy a sailboat :)
All sailors know that Boats require maintenance...A look inside the engine compartment would have been nice. How accessible is the raw water pump for changing impellers?

I have been considering a Catalina 36 MKII as a "floating condo" / Island hopper in Florida. Interesting differences in the 385.

Recommendation. Less camera focus on the the person describing the boat and more on the boat itself. The narration is okay but if you want to get more subs more camera on the boat!

Ed, where are the stats ? What year was she built ? How Much ? Would like to see the engine ! There is no reason to contact you . Not enough info to pique any interest .

Can a boat be a production boat AND a blue water boat?
It has a fin keel, so consider that. A lot of blue water sailors want full keel, but many prefer a faster boat. It also has an aft cockpit, and many blue water sailors prefer a center cockpit. But you can cross an ocean in it, it just won't be as comfortable as a full keel with center cockpit. ...also, the vast majority of blue water boats are production boats.
Great video, but, in the title you mention value. That implies a price, but there is no mention of price in the video. I know, I know - I can contact you for those ‘details,’ but, honestly if you mention value in a title you should start to think about talking about the cost - in the video. Otherwise, it’s all a bit annoying. And, really, is the a harm in mentioning price? Is this a sales ploy? I know, I know, it’s complicated - all the options, etc., still, we’re all fairly smart and you could easily provide a range of prices. If you think that holding back prices is a way to demonstrate discretion, well, then, ok, not sure what to say. Thoughts?

$240k is not nothing, but also, it's less than the median home price, and many people buy these to live aboard.

That teak and maple are NOT complimentary. The interior of that boat looks like something from the late 70s early 80s, particularly with that ugly galley. Note, he doesn't actually say what the "popular pricing" is, because he knows it's too much. And surprise, surprise, the link to the sale page is broken. This guy's a plaid jacket away from being a full on used car salesman.
So sorry you did not enjoy the Catalina 385 video. While our Catalina videos are not as polished as some we try to fill them with meaningful content. You are entitled to your opinion about the aesthetics, no question about that. However Catalina has always been focused on a more timeless style that looks good many years down the road as well as when they are new. Also they put a premium on performance, safety at sea and enduring value. If you would like current pricing I would be happy to email you a comprehensive information package.
