When teaching my master class this month there was a common concern among the singers...how to boost confidence when performing? Each singer was feeling overwhelmed by nerves while trying to deliver a solid performance. I have been there. So to help...
Over the next few weeks, I am going to share tools to calm the nerves and build your confidence while performing.
I don't want nerves to get in the way of you sharing your voice.
I don't want you to NOT perform because you are afraid nerves will steal the show.

Sooo true about 'rote learning going 'out the window' when faced with a mic and a crowd of people. When you get to the point where you sing to yourself maybe out walking in town and what were previously difficult notes now just seem to naturally 'find' the right place and don't crack, maybe muscle memory is finally starting to kick in? I've only recently started noticing this after years of struggle and trial and error.
Yup! I think you are right on. When a song or lyrics just flow from us while walking that melody and lyrics are now running on a different level than when we have to consciously think about them. Keep up the great work!

I always keep struggling with the way I sound whenever I sing karaoke because I have a thing of self doubting myself that I can't do it. and that I'm to scared of admitting that can do it.
I hear you. It can be scary, but you can do this, Chelsea. You love to sing and share your voice and when you do you inspire others to do the same. Keep doing it. Sometimes our brain like to think of all the things that can go wrong but so many things can go right. Focus on those things. Close your eyes... think of the beautiful story you are sharing. Keep bringing yourself back the the message of the story and let your heart sing. Don't worry about what it sounds like or if it is good or bad. Just sing and sing and sing some more. You can do this! I am cheering for you!
