Fun fact, there's an actual flower named "Aster" that has both the main color scheme of Aster and Alicia, yellow and purple! I don't remember but I think the symbolism of Aster also fits perfectly.

The real homage to Walt Disney is the fans rewriting this souless movie.
Idea i had, if it starts out with Alicia trusting the king and queen, you could start out with them wearing more white/light colors to make them see more pure and good, and as the story progresses and Alicia starts to realize that they’re evil, their outfits become darker like the designs shown in the video. Just an idea, I absolutely love this project and am so excited to see how it turns out!! 💕

I believe that Evan Peters was originally cast as the Starboy and the Starboy plot was removed because, even though its 2024, if a mainstream project stars a visibly black female character, her romantic partner must ALSO be an ethnic minority or its seen as "political" ie. Prince Naveen + Tiana or Gen V with Marie + Jordan. When was this project announced? Back in 2018, right? What has happened since then?
Star Trek Discovery debuted with its first black female lead that nerds contested as anti-white male propaganda (without evidence). Harry + Meghan broke from the Monarchy, Vampire Diaries' Kat Graham and The Flash's Candice Patton have been candid about the racist backlash from the fandom, furthermore there have been cosplay wars within creative & art communities because we can't decided if "race" plays a part in fictional characters. The Little Mermaid definitely was the nail in the coffin but Wish was finished and and on its way out. Why would a company like Disney make a BW+WM interracial couple when it sews public discourse? The voice actress for Asha is an Afro-Latina.
That would actually make sense considering their costumes. Kinda like a "holier than thou" situation, which fits

The fact that people like you are making actual art, putting in the effort, without having money as an objective, and making stuff far better and more inspired than mainstream movie corporations just goes to show how much you care, and how far those corporations have fallen. It's absolutely amazing that all these artists and animators and voice actors on youtube, (and other platforms) just see what they want to accomplish and do it! You guys actually have heart in your projects, because it's something you personally want to accomplish. Instead of Disney being like, "oh we need to make money, let's make some random thing with no heart and soul" Bravo to all you creators out there! Keep going! Don't give up! You got this!

A thing that was kind of underdeveloped with _Wish_ (beyond… everything), was that the main characters each had a tarot motif-Magnifico and The Queen were The Emperor and The Empress respectively, Asha was The Fool, and Starboy is obviously The Star.
I wonder if the other characters could’ve fallen into this motif.

OOOOH so true! Could you argue that her friends could be the other cards as well, like the Magician maybe dahlia, Sabino (maybe?) the chariot? It's a little tricky trying to figure out exact matches since there's so little to work with

After reading the art book of Wish firsthand, I can tell that the people who stuck around the film really had to pull their punches on what they could say. What you are doing is the passion that the creatives themselves would have stood by.
We were robbed. We could’ve had an evil couple and a star romance.
Also as for the animation they originally wanted 2D but then decided on a mix of 2D and 3D. I don’t understand how it looks like this they already have the perfect 2D and 3D blend animation that they used for the short film Paperman.
In my personal rewrite this is what would have happened.
What would’ve worked more was if the king and queen were both evil and Asha was their daughter. Then Asha would’ve grown up thinking that keeping the wishes was the right thing and star boy had to help show her the right way. Also it would add a lot more to Asha’s character by standing against her parents since for all the other Disney princesses with evil parents they’re always stepparents (Lady Tremaine, Evil Queen, and Gothel). So the fact that a princesses actual parents are evil would’ve been so cool.
I get wanting villains like the Evil Queen back but Magnifico should've been the sympathetic villain that is way too overprotective and wants to protect everyone due to his own trauma
We could even keep the seven dwarves friends but make them people who have already given their wishes so throughout the story Asha and Star help them. I would even keep the betrayal but I would make it work by having Simon have a crush on Asha so he works for the king in order to impress her.
Also I wouldn't make Asha quirky I mean she can definitely have somethings but not as much as they did. I would make her more similar to Elsa and Mulan personality rather than Anna and Rapunzel.
I would also change Asha's color palette purple reminds me too much of Rapunzel and Isabella. I wish they stuck with the orange red color palette from the concept art
I also want to rename the characters too. I like Asha but it doesn’t really fit. I want to rename her to something like Luna to better fit the motif
I'm glad the fans rewrite history their way but I wish disney makes the movie again using the original ideas.
One idea: Asher should have a mentor.
Idea two: Have Alicia somewhat know/related or have a relationship with king and queen.
Idea three: Andres should not like Asher at first but then see him as a brother.
This touched me so much cause I bought the book inspired by the movie even before it was out. To see how disappointing it was is very saddening. But now seeing this community come together for this is INSANE. You’re going to make a great movie and I can’t wait to see what happens!

It's crazy how the original concept was so good that it's inspired so many people to create what could have been. Like, the Wish fandom is unironically made of mostly fans of the original concept over the actual movie. Disney messed up so bad, and animation youtube is going to show them how it's done. I'm subbing and following this project of yours, and wish you all the luck!
Just random, but I always thought that Aster and Alicia were sort of "destined" in a way. Lile, Aster would be almost a guardian angel or fairy godbrother to Alicia when she was little, but for her it's a blurry memory, when it was really just a small forget-me spell since that's one of the ways star people protect themselves.
Like, they'd play together when Aster was a little star (there you go Disney merch), and Aster would know about her dad but would be fearful to reveal it all because he doesn't want her to get hurt, cue him maybe humming "At All Costs" to little Alicia when she's sleeping and turning into his actual boy form.
Maybe he would even teach her the "language of the stars"/sign language just for fun, but it comes in handy when saving the kingdom later, some words even being spells. Maybe one spell could be her gaining wings like Tinkerbell?
In return, Alicia teaches him stuff about the human world like sewing, climbing with ropes, swinging through trees, etc.
Sort of a Jack Frost situation, idk. I just think it'd be cute.
Edit: maybe an echo-dreamy yet soft voice for Aster, a clear difference from him and the king

I have an idea for Aster. He can see a hole over someone’s heart when their wish has been taken. An idea of how this could be shown is by him going up to someone and gesturing to where their wish should be or something like that.
I feel like this will make a breakthrough like hazbin hotel did, open the animation industry to more indie animation, challenging Disney and making creativity of individuals the new standard in animated story telling!
I feel like this will make a breakthrough with creation in general, hopefully making corporations eyes open that we want quality works. Hazbin didn’t do that and failed to be good. Sure it started indie but fell into what it wanted from the start, to be big. That’s why I love lackadaisy more. Much more creative and filled with passion to show others that you can make something real and move without the help of a big company. I’m sure this project will do wonders and I sense the passion that Walt desired to share.
I will follow this “Wish” to the end of the universe let’s make Walt Disney proud

Well, I did a fanmade Wish animatic just to jump on the bandwagon, and it turned out to be the fastest viewed and most like out of my contents. I was thinking of making another animatic, but I'm afraid the trend would be over by the time I would be posting it. I wonder if you have saw it.

Glad I'm not the only one. I lost my faith in Disney after watching "Ralph Breaks The Internet". I HATED that movie, it made Ralph SO unlikable! People like you who keep a perfect legacy of the past alive is the only thing that gives me hope for animation.

It’s inspiring to see these creators putting in the effort to make works of art instead of making something just for the profit. I’m only starting out with making animatics, so there’s not much I can contribute, but some tips I’ve learned is to keep shot decisions in mind because they provide so much with storytelling. The different angles and shot decisions can tell different things about the characters and the environments! It’s so cool!
If you’d like inspiration, I rewrote Wish on AO3… titled, “Wish: Reimagined”! I am not a song writer so I left/tweaked some song lyrics. Anyway. Thanks for listening to my TedTalk. ❤
I’m curious about King Celestino and Queen Catalina. Are they going to be abusive and toxic in a way that brings about their mutual self-defeat, like classic Disney villains (e.g. Clayton from “Tarzan”)? OR Are they meant to play out like Morticia and Gomez, a technically healthy and stable marriage but in a way that they reinforce each other’s evil?
I like option number two the best. It's funner.
The first option is good but I don't want to see two characters abuse eachother. Not in a remake of a Disney film.
Do you think you'll add the "sincere appreciation" dedication at the beginning before the movie starts or at the end before the credits? I think that would be a nice inclusion as an homage to Walt.

So far I'm 100% loving the concept. Subscribed a few mins in. Yah the last thing Disney made that really felt real was Encanto, but that is after years of waiting for music and a story to hit hard from them.

Im so excited for this project! Based on the somg rewrite i know this project is in good hands. Its honestly shameful what the disney executives did to this movie. The original storyboards for it were so charming and really felt like that good old disney magic. They had this in the bag and it was fumbled so hard, not to mention that they should have started production earlier, they did not give the team enough time.

Also yeah! We wanted Starboy!! They marketed this movie as “going back to the time of classic Disney” well, whether people like it or not, one of the things that made classic Disney so iconic was the whole, true love’s kiss, and love at first sight. I’m not saying Asha and Star should’ve fallen for each other after a minute, or that Asha should’ve been this ditzy damsel who gets rescued by the power of love or anything like that. She can still be how she was in the movie, but having someone to love at her side would’ve made her more well rounded. But no, apparently the writers at Disney are just allergic to love I guess. Yess!!! Traditional Disney was all about love. Even Dumbo had familial love in it. Wish couldn't even give us THAT.
May I just say though that older Disney princesses weren't just dizt's that fell in love in a minute. For example, Cinderella was a kind and hard-working young lady who was being abused by her stepmother. Even so she continued to do kind things for the mice in her home, the only people that cared for her, and she was rewarded for it.

I absolutely love the energy and passion in this video, it’s something that feels so lacking in mainstream productions.
I feel like I’m watching some kind of revolution unfold and I’m fully here for it.
I’m not even a Disney fan but when I found out about the scrapped concept for this movie it had me tearing my hair out. I don’t think big companies like Disney will return to the old days of soulful animated movies and compelling characters. But I and the swaths of other people on the internet will sure as hell scream at them about it, if only for the chance of getting another Treasure planet or Princess and the frog.
If I might make one suggestion (to again help separate it a little more from Disney (but also going along with concept art) maybe have Alica's dress swap colors with her sister Carmen (red instead of purple), just a suggestion (I understand if you've gotten a lot more down on the "film" and such things aren't "easy" to change, so if it's to much work, no pressure. Alica and the cast look great as they are :)
Aw, thanks! I like the idea, but I'm worried that the red colour might make Alicia look a little too much like Alena of Avalor, but I'll play around with the colours and see how it looks.
Oh my, you, and everyone who's taking the reigns of what Disney lost are absolutely INCREDIBLE for all you're doing! I waited until this movie came to Disney+ and....well it would not have been exactly worth it to see in theaters....

I completely agree with you! As much as I liked Wish, it's definitely not a film worthy of 100 years. The concepts were so promising, it's incomprehensible that they only offered us this... thing! I don't know what Disney is up to right now but they better wake up! They haven't reached 100 years to sink now after so many wonders!
Being French, I cannot participate directly. But I know what it is. I myself plan to rewrite the script by using many of the concepts. I've already done something like this with the script of Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers' movie and I hope to be able to pay a nice tribute to the Disney that we all love. Those who make us dream, those whose songs mark us for life and become hymns. I don't have the talent for songs but I hope the text and context will help make them more interesting.

Just to suggest a fun little tidbit, (After Aster sacrifices his powers to stay with Alicia)
Aster and Alicia could acquire a small amount of magic through the magic of their true love. And thereby become the first fairy godmother and godfather
I'm not even done with this video, and I'm totally sold on your idea!!! I don't have any helpful skills to help you in this, but I support you 100% on this venture (I'm currently writing a fan fic based off of a bit of the story found in the game Dreamlight Valley and the original Wish concept)!! Also, well done on this sort of announcements video, using great references and use of different scenes and lines from movies AND your commentary using your artistic avatar!! I couldn't help but laugh at how expressive this is!! Go you!!
Girl you are inspiring! If you need any help what-so-ever, I'm here. I definitely can't sing but I'm willing to do anything to help.
So, there was this idea I heard that Starboy is invisible in the daylight because stars aren’t visible during the day. I thought this was an amazing idea that could help whenever covert operations need to happen. It could also lead to a funny little moment where Alicia is freaking out because Starboy is doing magical shenanigans in public, but no one can see him but her because she was the one who made the wish. Of course, if you need to find a way for Aster to be visible during the day, he could use his magic to illuminate himself in starlight or something so he can be seen. It's kind of like a daylight shield. He could also become visible if he goes into a dark enough shadow or a room lit with things other than sunlight. It could also be a plot point like the people of Etheria and the stars used to be visible during the day, but Estralian's ability to see them during the day faded with their faith in the people of Etheria as wish granters because Celestino and Catalina planted doubt in the people so they could steal the powers of the Etherians. There could also be something like every Etherian has their own star, but if an Etherian loses its power, its star grows dim. Aster could be one of the few Etherians that escaped Celestino and Catalina but is the only one that escaped with all his powers intact. Maybe because when Alicia was a little girl, she made a wish on Aster's star and because she is so optimistic, her hope has kept Aster's power alive while others' powers faded.

I have an idea for a little gag/joke. Since Dominic is black and white, he reminded me of the old rubberhose cartoons. And Aster/Starboy can do magic, right? So, what if (by mistake or otherwise), he would turn Dominic into an anthropomorphic rubberhose goat? Even for 5 seconds! It would be a nice omage to the beginnings of animation.
Oh I cannot wait to see how this turns out! I can already see the passion that is poured into this project, and you only showed the poster and character designs...everyone looks fantastic!
Little idea I had: I've been thinking about how Aster could be a people pleaser since his task is to grant other's wishes. Maybe it could be shown in the way he does everything he is asked without complaining, until Alicia shows him respect and genuenly listens to him. At the end he would finally allow himself to be selfish for once and have a wish of his own, which would be to stay with Alicia.
(I don't know if my idea makes sense but feel free to use it if it piques your interest💕)
You will make the tree with lost wishes, which are several ribbons scattered with the wishes of those who still remember. In the "This Wish" part, the scene would be more emotional
I just want to say, as person also working on an indie project, you're awesome for doing this for the community. It's a bunch of work, and planning! We all saw the huge potential Wish had, and Disney blew it. I agree with you 100% on everything you said in this video. I can't wait to see where this project takes you.
And, for me, the words you said at the end of this video stuck with me the most: "Let's stop complaining, and let's get creating."

I love your willingness to remake the Wish movie, if you need an artist, I'm here to help ⭐. I would like "Alice" to be the daughter of the king and queen because Disney never made biological parents be defeated by their child, and I think that you can still use the entire family that you created, of course without the mother but the siblings and Grandpa can still be part of the royalty (it's just my opinion)
I'll definitely be willing to share ideas once I know more about your project, and maybe voice a character or two.

It feels like all the pure magic has been sucked out by the big corporate leech that is the people in charge of Disney. Theres no more love, no more passion, no more artistic abilities being used. Not to mention that the story was modified to a degree where it was made to sell merchandise (cute star boy and goat guy) and make catchy songs that are cheesy and horrible. I wouldve loved to see a star boy being a love intrest and EVIL ROYALTY! I WOULDVE LOVED TO SEE SUCH BEAUTIFUL IDEAS!

I find this quite admirable. I am an aspiring writer/artist/musician as well and I see epic potential in this. I will try to get my act together and see if I can submit an audition, though I don't necessarily know what all that entails. I have a friend helping me out with this technology/communication stuff. I regret that I didn't see this sooner, I hope to get an audition to you before Jan 31st, but it may just be too late for that deadline. Either way, good luck with this, I will attempt to help if I can carve out enough time.
