Deathwatch are both the objectively strongest and coolest space marine fireteam so good choice. I'm totally not biased because they're what I play haha

@@BenjisHobbies the one thing I sorta disagree with is that I don't think the sergeant can take a bolter and power weapon. That and the fact that the Xenophase Blade is both better and way cooler in the lore imo.

I made a veteran marines killteam
I'm running them as deathwatch and the idea is that they are the last marines of a battle force

Really like how you painted the black armour it looks awesome, it's so easy when you paint black for it to read as dark blue or grey depending on how you highlight it. Yours looks great and reads right
Absolutely this! I used to hate black armour because edge highlighting really isn’t my forte, but Black Templar has changed my mind!

Me and my friends have played a handful of games of kill team with a few different armies and Custodes seem to be the kill team to beat. They seem to have the best action economy and the most powerful weapon loadouts.
Deathwatch are good though.
I think they’ve had a bit of a nerf now that’s made them a little less OP, but they did certainly seem like a powerhouse and tough to beat!

It’s the matte black from Colour Forge. Definitely my new favourite rattle can black primer!

Hi benji I know you said that you didn't want to make it a painting tutorial but could you advise on what paints/colours you used for the zenithal? I've just got some deathwatch and this is one of the best looking ways to do the armour. (Im not doing edge highlighting... no thank you! Haha) cheers. Oh and really liking your video so far! Keep it up the good work mate! :)
No problem at all! I primed with a matte black (Colour Forge spray) and then gave it a misting with a white spray (again, Colour Forge spray) and once it was dry I just went to town with the Black Templar Contrast. Super easy 😊

Very minimal edge highlighting just to make them pop. Most of it was done with pre- shading and contrast 😊

Was it spacing it or did you choose to omit the chest rigs on the marines for aesthetic reasons?
I did dry fit them but wasn’t keen on the aesthetic so decided to leave them off 😊
@@BenjisHobbies I like the shape of the breastplate with the lines, but my OCD keeps reminding me theres a part that belongs there. I really like the effect you got from supplementing the zenithal with a brush, if I didnt already have my deathwatch 60% painted, I'd try that on them myself. Maybe I can try it on my buddy's black templars that havent been painted yet.
@@GammaAKF I know - I did go backwards and forwards on them a bit but in the end settled on ‘hey, they’re my models, I’ll build them how I want!’
I’d definitely give it a go. If I were to paint them again I’d maybe even go as far as white on the very tips as well to really give them some contrast. Super quick, minimal effort but gives a decent effect 😊

The only thing that gets to me is the combiplasma over straight plasma.

@BenjisHobbies you can only fire the plasma once on those. Plasma on the other hand can fire up to 8 times with ap2 shots.

STUPIDLY - The Sgt cant take a sword and a Longarm. I know this because thats what I had planned (and he even has one in the Companion picture of him).
In my games I'll houserule, but you might get 'That guy' in a tournament. Look great though buddy!
I THINK I misquoted and said Bolt Gun rather than Bolt Pistol in the video. The Sgt can take a power weapon and a bolt pistol so I think he should be ok 😊

FWIW, Death Watch are super easy to magnetize and kit bash. For my own examples I used quite a few pieces from the Templars upgrade sprue, because Black Templars, eff yeah!
@@bopaintsminis if they were for me then I think I’d have been tempted to magnetise, but because they’re off across the world to take part in a campaign I just decided to glue them together for minimal fuss.
I am now eyeing up Kill Team Cassius though 👀
