    Beautiful!!
    Tip: Take an old hub, and weld or bolt it to an electric motor, and mount your wheel to it. Set it up so your wheel face is up. A wheel balancer works pretty good too, but that angle is a little harder to work with. This is how a lot of wheel refinishers, can bust out multiple wheel sets on the daily. This is good for filing and sanding out curb rash, cause you get an even lip all the way around, as well as sanding out all the pitting/knicks, cutting, and polishing the wheel evenly without creating low spots.

      @NaztyNate  Před 2 lety +1

    • @NaztyNate
      @NaztyNate  Před 5 lety

      Yeah that was the only one I used, but I feel like those harbor freight sanding blocks start to fall apart and become close to 1000 grit. It would be safer to work your way up to 1000 before polishing but that's up to the user.

    • @NaztyNate
      @NaztyNate  Před 4 lety +1

      That's awesome man! Sanding is definitely the most important part. If there is still a haze/scratches that just means the early sanding marks were not sanded out with a finer grit. It'll be impossible to get them all out but just get to where your happy with the result!

    • @NaztyNate
      @NaztyNate  Před 5 lety +2

      It's most likely clear coated from the factory, I've seen people use aircraft paint stripper to remove the coating or just sand it off. When you do that though, you would be exposing the bare metal to the elements and they will lose their shine more quickly when it rains and especially in the winter time. if you live somewhere with salt. You would just need to keep up with them to stay looking fresh!

    What grit of sandpaper would you recommend starting with and what grit would you recommend stopping at?

    • @NaztyNate
      @NaztyNate  Před 5 lety

      I'd recommend stopping at 600-1000, the buffing wheels i used will buff polish something close to 600 or above. Starting is a bit different, it just depends how bad the wheels are. I would start at 320 and see if that will sand out any pitting/corrosion. If not, go lower. In most case you could start with 400 or 600 if there is little pitting.

    Can you sand blast the wheels to start?

    • @NaztyNate
      @NaztyNate  Před 4 lety +1

      I would not recommend sand blasting before polishing. It is very hard to get the surface smooth again after blasting (it would require a lot of sanding). The best way is to use sand paper and work your way up to 600+ grit.

    Was the Zephyr product able to remove all the sanding marks?
    I'm currently in the process of redoing some factory Ford F250 rims that have heavy oxidation which required a lot of sanding. I can get them to shine with normal aluminum polish and a puffing pad but the scratches are still prevalent. I was looking into the zephyr kit, but I don't wanna invest if i'll be in the same situation.

      It does take the sanding marks out but it depends. You need to make sure each time you step up in grit you are actually removing all the sanding marks from the last grit. You should sand up to about 1000 grit before you start polishing

      Hey man thanks for the swift response! My finished product rims are at 2000 grit, so I should be good to go with the polish kit from then right?

      @@YeZookaChannel oh yeah they should shine up nice if you're at 2000!

      @@NaztyNate Do you have an IG? I just got my Zephyr stuff in and I still had the same hair line scratches after finishing buffing. I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Was maybe hoping I could dm you some pics/videos on IG

    How long did this take you

    • @NaztyNate
      @NaztyNate  Před 5 lety

      I'd say I have about 20 hrs in all 4 wheels (both sides) when I got them, they were absolutely destroyed. Most of the time sanding isn't necessary unless they are bad.

    If you dont have a tire machine, put the rim back on a jacked up car with all corners of the frame up on jacks, and rotate your wheels to the drive axles, then while at idle you can POLISH them while they rotate. If you are a scare D cat, you can always spin them without the car running and spin them by hand czcams.com/video/4HtWbGex3k4/video.html ( take the valves out and weights off first ) you will still have to do the lug holes after you've taken them off the car.

    how long did the polish last?

    • @NaztyNate
      @NaztyNate  Před 4 lety

      It lasts a long time. But with rain and brake dust it gets dull a little quicker. If you keep them clean the polish will look good all summer.
