    The original Flitz was designed for cleaning fiberglass and gelcoat, and it was amazing. We found out that the same original Flitz would clean all the billet parts on our sand rails after they would get blasted from the dunes. The same thing with the powder coated surfaces on our sand rails... Flitz shined it right up. It is much more effective than Mothers or Never Dull. I wasn't aware of the pre-clean spray, but will have to give it a try. I bought a quart can of Flitz about 15 years ago and I am still working on the same can. It takes very little to get the job done, and the blacker the rag gets, the better it works. Then just you a clean rag for a final buff.

    Last Sept I purchased a car from FL and there is a milky white residue on all of my aluminum alloy wheels. I stumbled across this video and opted to check it out. When Flitz rep mentioned mag chloride on FL roads I thought OMG! That’s what’s likely caked on my wheels. Will buy product ASAP. THX
    UPDATE: Tried it. Was disappointed to say the least. 🙄 It generated a hint of improvement on wheels but in no way did it remove the grime as I had hoped. For what it’s worth, I sprayed it on a towel n it added a bit more brightness to whitewalls.
    So, it’s not a total bust.
    Will try fine grit sandpaper to see if that helps.

    NEVER DULL is the old hot rod best to use on alum wheels. I always use it on my 1977 Crager alum wheels and now of course for many years. It is a preinserted oxidation polish into a large wool wade in a can and you pull off what you need to do each wheel with as you go along. Always keep lid on the can after taking a piece off for a wheel so it does not start to dry out. BEST PRODUCT ! STILL USING SAME CAN SINCE BOUGHT IN 1977.

      Yep, gone thru cans of that stuff. But again, depending on the alloy. Cast wheels use a different alloy than forged wheels. Many aluminum alloys don't forge well. 7075 is the top alloy for forging and has a high zinc content and will polish up and resist tarnishing or corrosion longer. Problem is it doesn't weld or repair easily,

    • @autoforge
      @autoforge  Před měsícem

      Yes as long as they are not clear coated from the factory. Easy way to check if they are clear coated or not is to rub a small spot with polish and then check your polishing cloth. If it turns black they are not cleared and you can use a metal polish on them. If your cloth doesn't turn black then they have a clear protective coating on them. In this situation a normal car wax is what you want to use.
