And the meaning everyone keeps talking about is Bird was Psy’s debut song in 2001.

Psy and Suga actually have very similar personalities and beliefs. On an interview psy said that they easily became best friends because the two are very alike. Their writing styles are both provocative and bold considering the korean culture. Especially psy in the beginning of his career, his songs and lyrics were controversial to the mass majority and music scene in general.
Ooo cool...... i think psy mentioned they both liked 90s music too, but i like the connection with breaking new and controversial ground in korean music
PSY was actually very well established in the k-music scene long before "Gangnam Style" broke in the west. He's been a part of the industry for something like 20 years, and as others have mentioned, he's the CEO of his own company P-Nation, which has signed some artists who are known for being rather unconventional in the k-music industry in various ways.
His long experience in the industry, and the fact that he's *literally* the boss, means that yeah, he knows exactly what he wants out of an MV from a directorial perspective.
As for the temperature - it was cold! It had apparently also been raining, so the ground was really muddy in places. The filming was done in Korea in... I think they said mid-March, so it was still pretty much winter at the time. But that's why you keep seeing them wearing the puffer jackets and holding hand warmers between takes.
Agreed: the making of videos need to be longer! And as to it being hot when they filmed, it looks as though it was cold, as crew and cast were in puffy coats and hand warmers when not on camera. I think I saw a post that the setting for this mv was the same as for Permission To Dance, but am not sure. In either case the desert had to be constructed as there aren’t naturally-occurring deserts in Korea. I confess I looked that up.. 😬

An article when PTD was released said: :
"The place BTS filmed PTD MV is at Eulwang Mountain ,west of Yeongjongdo Island located in Incheon International Airport. During the construction of Incheon Airport, half of the mountain disappeared and that area is looking like a desert."

It was cold that day!
In one of his nterviews Psy said that they filmed this in mid-March 2022 (the Tuesday after the PTD concerts in Seoul actually!), and it had been raining a lot leading up to the shoot. The sand was actually really muddy, which made it hard to dance.
He was very appreciative that yoongi did as much of the MV, given how cold and wet everything was that day. And during his comeback press conference he even mentioned that everytime he watches the MV he looks at it fondly because of the memories and inspiration he gained from Suga.
P.S. Psy said the MV shoot was done near Icheon, and yoongi did later confirm during his vlive aboit the song last week that it's the same location they used fornthe PTD MV shoot.
As CEO of PNation Agency, he has access to the BEST in the biz. I understand Lumpens directed, BTS video director genius. Would love to know who the choreographer was cuz it’s great!

oh he's in the music video!! The tall guy in the cowboy hat, 3:25... bbtrippin's choreo team is in PSY's 'Now ft. Hwasa' video, his GANJI video, 9INTRO, and even his live 'That That' performances, that's a lot...
Btw, Psy own and run his management. There are some top KPop artist/idol in his management. So sense to lead and making good video comes naturally, and because it is his responsibility.
ALSO YES you are so right! if you see psy in any interview, he is soooo down to earth and calm, like he seems the exact opposite of this persona he puts up in his MVs. It's so funny to see this dichotomy
Yeah, he actually said he speaks in quite an old-fashioned style, so much that in conversation on Radio Star he mentioned that someone assumed he'd know pop culture from the 1930s lol
That shot where the camera moves from one to the other rapidly was interesting. I thought they’d have used two cameras. Camera persons are real stars. They have a really hard job. It was great to see these two consummate professionals working together. SUGA and PSY seem to have really hit it off and become good friends. From SUGA’s point of view it must be heartening to know that there’s no reason he can’t be performing into his forties. PSY is a dad with two children another aspect of life I’m sure SUGA aspires to. The choreographer was BB Trippin apparently. He’s worked on other PNation choreographies.

Yoongi has credits for producing, arranging, writing and featuring xD Psy's evil plan worked like a charm, bc he insisted they meet (Yoongi usually works with other artists via email).
Psy's background is pretty similar to his, so apart from being a respected senior (he debuted in 2002 and is 44yo - the song Bird sounds when they spot the birds in the 2nd video, you could do a reaction to the MV... it's... interesting!), he's originally a hip-hop artist (you gotta listen to his full album!). Psy was mainly a songwriter and producer, but either nobody wanted his songs or he got ripped off (like Yoongi in his teenage years). So he decided as a last attempt to sing himself his songs and became a legend. Gangnam Style was just another comeback, 10y into his career. Nothing prepared him for the viral success which he regards as bittersweet, as many people even called him "hey, it's gangnam style" while nobody recognized him truly or his name. So that's what opened the doors for the next step, become well loved before viral (aka BTS, as Yoongi recognizes).

It was cold and muddy, they said it in the video and they are holding hand warmers all the time! XD THe shooting location is the same as PtD: not a desert (they are not in Vegas lol), it's a beach ("b*tch? beach"). Yoongi mentioned not having a choreo shoot for a long time since Butter and PtD, less than a year but "a lot of time" for idols who are always filming MVs xD
PS. Really, listen to his full album. He's funny for the title tracks because he feels like it, but he has ballads and other type of songs ^^U

I think you rarely get artists who have a complete vision of their mv, since a lot of them rely a LOT on their directors (which is obviously okay) but psy has been in this industry for so long, and he's SUCH a professional that I'm not even surprised he's this involved in a lot of the scenes of his mvs. he has such a distinct style that it makes sense that he gives his own input more frequently than not
Yeah i was surprised that so much of his choreography in this comeback was by more professional teams, i think because his recent comeback is part of a greater brand building of his company P-Nation and the debut of their boy group, he got somebody to help him choreograph well, and to direct a popular music video. But otherwise, for every other music video that PSY is in (gentleman, gangnam style, new face, i luv it) he always has a directing role
lmao fun fact: PSY went to college at Boston University and then Berklee college of music then he drop out of both schools without a degree and became an legend and SUGA as always killed it lmao💜💜

Yay! I was waiting for this reaction! Loved that you watch both of the behinds 😊 also it was most definitely not hot lol they filmed this in march and you could see them wearing big padded coats and the staff were all wearing coats as well as them holding hand warmers and it was raining or it rained so it was colder/cooler and the sand made them kinda sink into it when walking on it 😅 I also realized that since it was cold the female back up dancers must have been really really cold since they were wearing shorts or really light clothes 🥶
Also one last thing I saw this on Twitter or I forgot where I saw this but if I remember correctly the location is actually the same place BTS filmed “ Permission to dance” mv and the blue car that was in the “that that” mv is actually the same car from the daechwita mv just in a different color! Not sure if it’s true or not I’m pretty sure it is but that’s pretty cool. Also psy was very involved in the directing as he is CEO of his own label/company so he’s the ceo of Pnation and other really famous/popular idols are under his label!

This was filmed in March of this year near the city of Incheon. This city is west of Seoul basically on the coast of the Yellow Sea. That is beach sand.

That he gives 'participation' not 'exhibition' right? Because he couldn't dance in a cool way, he was always good at dancing in a goofy way since he was young, so his debut song had a goofy choreography that everyone could do. His dancing style is based on dances that everyone can participate in, rather than watch as a spectacle.
