I’m a tech, let me tell you this job would cost well over $600 parts and labor. Not worth it. Once you need to replace the drum I’m out. Either way I don’t like LG or Samsung. Also, you need to clean the detergent compartment housing from all that mold. I saw lots of scum/mold on the old rubber boot.
Maintenanceis is needed on appliances
The washer should be cleansed every few months at minimum by dumping two cups of white vinegar and one cup of baking soda in detergent dispenser and run a full cycle.
Second, keep the door ajar when not in use to reduce moisture and mold buildup on the boot. Also make sure your boot drain holes aren’t clogged in between washes
These are located at 6 o’clock of the boot
My lg washer has the same issue, any brand/model you recommend? Or avoid front load at all? Thansk
I wish we new what it was supposed to cost. I’m going to look at one for sale and that information would really help me with the decision to buy.
Fortunately for me, the technician thought it was under the warranty and ordered all the parts and never see any invoices, therefore, I can't tell you how much was the fix for this job with parts & labor.

There are several reasons why your washing machine can be smoking, such as: Faulty drive motor. Slipping drive belt. Broken spider bearing or Rubber Gasket is rubbing by the drum.

LG sucks for washing machines I have one and it’s my last one, my old washing machine from 1999 does a better job
Yeah, even LG technician says that the older machine tends to last longer than the new ones due to better built quality and less sensors.
