I really appreciate your ability to disagree with your former opinions, and ultimately land on a positive perspective. This indicates a level of maturity that is incredibly refreshing, and all too rare amongst Star Wars CZcamsrs and fans. We don't always understand the full story, and not everything makes perfect sense right away, Star Wars has ALWAYS been like this.
The things that average viewers point out as "plot holes" are nothing more than an invitation to explore, to figure out WHY the writers made that decision, and HOW those things fit in to the story. To me, these mysteries, and the discussions they lead to, are some of the more enticing aspects of the Star Wars universe.
Thank you two for doing what you do, and for being a voice of reason amongst a sea of oblivious negativity.

Positivity is different from doing the work for Disney on starwars. You are buying into litterally no story that is coherent or going anywhere meaningfully. Litterally what you miss is the fact that Disney's starwars doesn't care about starwars. They constantly say they have nothing to work from and that's why they struggle, yet they decannonized all of the extended universe and are taking from it and butchering it to give characters they want story that makes no sense for them, and was meant for other characters. If you enjoy it have at it. But this isn't stsrwars lore, it's Disney's writers and Kathleen Kennedys fan fiction.

I enjoyed Season 3 and had a lot of fun and I liked what they did with Grogu as a character. Even though it has pacing issues but I attribute more the problems to the Covid scheduling and production issues, with Pedro, Ludwig and some of the DP's not being able to return. @@ilikemandalorians9861 I think the problem was that the show basically labeled the group as a cult and never had something push back on that name.
In the west, the term cult has a dark undertone so when they had both a main character deem them a cult and have a major emotional scene be the main character rejecting a rule of said cult, people were primed to see them as crazy religious zealots rather than a more traditionalistic church. They should have had a scene or two showing the children of the watch in a positive way in season two before the helmet removal scene. Genuine question: Alex has said a couple of things recently about how he thinks the force works, for example, anyone having the capacity to be force sensitive, or in this episode that he doesn't think it works to just implant it in a clone. I've always taken what Lucas put in Episode 1 about midichlorians to mean that the more you have, the more scope you have to be force sensitive and use the force. And we've seen plenty of altered clones in The Bad Batch. So surely if they can alter a clone's midichlorian count, they can create clones that are capable of learning to use the force? They obviously wouldn't just pop out of the tank and instantly float rocks, but the capacity to learn would be much higher than Gideon's himself.

So glad that you guys recognized your biases. I think the story is way more meaningful with this true unity of Mandalorians without once again making one sect the bad guys.
As someone with my own religious trauma, I totally get where y’all are coming from, but that doesn’t seem to be where Din is coming from. The covert rescued him. Plus, the real-world implications of the covert and “the helmet rule” is very meaningful to people of other religious backgrounds who do follow what from the outside may look like “stupid” traditions but are very significant to them and their heritage and beliefs.
Also, the Armorer seems to be more of a guide than a dictator, especially since she defers to Paz and the covert to democratically make decisions.
I know y’all probably won’t see this since it’s a week after the fact, but I do genuinely do appreciate y’all’s points of view, but this journey with this show has helped remind me that I can vehemently disagree with y’all and still support the areas where we overlap because I was starting to get heated about our differences 😂

Q&A: With Jedi Survivor coming out, I had this question on the mind. Of course in an action video game, violence is usually the answer. Cal's gotta swing his lightsaber around and do cool stuff. However, we're always told the Jedi are master diplomats, negotiators and prefer an avenue of non-violence when conflict arises. Yet, in nearly all instances we see in Star Wars media, we actually get, as Anakin called them, "aggressive negotiations". What are some instances where we actually *see* the Jedi peacefully solve a conflict without using their burning hot laser swords to remove one of the sides of the conflict?

The thing about the helmet is, I think there are different levels of adherence to Mandalorian orthodoxy. If we're going to go with a comparison to Judaism (which, judging by the episode titles, I think is warranted) you could liken the Mandalorians who keep their helmets on to the Orthodox, and those who don't to the Reformed.

This is a good take. The Children of Watch are more accurately described as fundamentalist than a cult. This season was about the different Mandalorian factions rallying around what unites them instead of what divides them to overcome a common enemy.

Regarding Pershing's mind-wiping, I REALLY thought they were going to end that scene with the scientist going to Kane; "he progressed much further ...THIS TIME" insinuating they'd wiped his mind several times already.

    Regarding the helmet rule, TCOTW and religious trauma;
First of all, I would like to same that I am a christian and obviously this affects how I veiw all this and I understand that a great many of you who have not had as positive a relationship with religion as me may and will disagree.
Now onto my thoughts; I do not want Din to remove his helmet because "the children of the watch are a cult, and the helmet rule is a symbol of their dogmatism, and therefore the rule needs to go" (and im aware that is not how anyone views or formulates this argument and is devoid of nuance, it is just the simplest common factor in these arguments). I thibk it would be more interesting to see Din deconstruct, and subsequently reconstruct his faith - an experience that is very common within modern Christian circles, whereby one examines ones own faith and goes back to the Bible and takes a hard look at which beliefs and doctrines are biblical, and those which have been inherited from culture and denomination. I feel we have an abundance (and very hesitantly I dare to say overrepresentation) of stories wherein a character will lose their faith for whatever reason, be it religious trauma (like with ahsoka in TCW) or just losing their faith. What is far less common in stories is the reconstruction side of things, and people sticking with their faith. I believe this can be a more compelling story too, and one in line with themes already being explored in the show, like what it means to be a mandalorian through characters like Cobb vanth and boba fett. It lends itself to exploring more about the origins of the helmet rule, and why the armourer is so dogmatic about it, as well as the role of TCOTW in the new mandalorian society. Whether Din forgoes the helmet or not is besides the point (though I personally would like it to stay), but it would take on a renewed meaning and significance either way.
Sorry for the wall of text, and feel free to disagree with me, I'd love to hear you guys' thoughts

Maybe the Armorer imposed the helmet rule to ensure safety for the future of mandalorian culture, as she didn't know what was to come. Therefore, as the retake of Mandalore and unification of the people took place, she recognized it's lack of importance and still allows her people to keep them on, if they want, but no longer being important.

Honestly I think it serves the story much better for the New Era of Mandalore to be one WITHOUT leadership only being passed through mortal combat. Bringing back the Darksaber will be a step backwards during a new era. They need to coexist in a way where they don't have to kill each other in order to pass the torch.

My immediate addition to head cannon was that Grogu, sorry, DIN Grogu would one day far from now when he had lived a life learning what the connection to the force means to a Mandalorian, perhaps even after his first century when a threat comes to the scattered tribes of Mandalore, Din Grogu is forced to become a leader and reforges the Darksaber and calls his old friend the Mythosaur from the depths to ride to battle as Mandalore the Uniter... or something. I think there was already a Mandalore the Uniter.
