    Not a big collector of threepence, but I've always liked the George VI design

    I have 12kg of of thrupenny bits now im going to have to look through each induvidual coin one by one...

      @@BitsAndBobsCoins they are the best for stacking fractional silver so can be sold in smaller bits if needed.
      And penny for penny the thrupenny bits are best value as they are the least demanded denomination, people pay £20+ for a half crown you can get the same weight in 3d Coins for about a tenner

    They are all basically before 1860 and one 1882. I find generally any 3d before 1887 is hard to find as they were not really used. the 1830s to 1850s groats were used more and 3ds used for the colonies. Only after 1887 do they become common. I only have 1843, 1873 and a worn 1884 before 1887. My rarest other than brass, is the 1943 silver, which was just over 1 million and mine is EF.

      Yes that's usually how it is the early years are much harder to find
      And 43' is a great one to have

      There was a silver Threepence and a brass Threepence with 12 sides

      Between 1937 and 1944 both were minted and ran in parallel although the silver ones made after 1942 were strictly speaking meant for the colonies, but two of each year for those years if you are collecting

      They stopped production in 1945
      All other issues will be Maundy coins not for circulation
