Fern Canyon Hike in Redwoods National Park

- Fern Canyon is one of the best 1-mile trails in all of California. The hike is in Praire Creek Redwoods State Park and Redwoods National Park and it features a stunning canyon covered in ferns and with beautiful trees surrounding it. Getting to the trail is a little tough but it is worth the adventure to see such a beautiful spot that was featured in movies like Jurassic Park 2: The Lost World. Let me know what you think in the comments!

Thanks for sharing. I am getting some ideas when I visit California. Fern Canyon is in my top five.
I can only imagine how amazing this place is
Just stumbled upon your videos while planning my honeymoon - we are hitting Yosemite, Big Sur, then driving the coast all the way up to Seattle. Your videos have really helped me to see which hikes/stops are must sees! Loving the content!
Dude.
Thank you so much for showing what the fucking road looks like getting into this. I have had a hard time finding anything that shows the actual road leading to the trail head.
I was just up in prairie creek/Klamath/trees of mystery area and redwood state/national park area and my Honda is lowered so I didn’t want to chance getting it stuck or hydro locking it, so I’m glad that I didn’t attempt it. But now I know to rent something with some more reasonable ground clearance before attempting. This is on my bucket list while I still live in the state. 🙌🙌
Very nice n soft explanation about Fern Canyon.. thanks for sharing your informative travel video
I have hiked Fern Canyon 3 times; I camp in Redcrest each summer and a group of us hike the canyon. Love it!
Oh I love Fern Canyon. It was my favorite place to hike while I was at school! I miss that area so much.
I bet it was an awesome area to go to school at with so much to explore
Love this , so beautiful. I bet it smells great too. You should start a tour company, just love all the places you have been.
We camped on the beach and hiked to the canyon in the morning. An amazing place for sure.
How lucky to have it all to yourselves! When I went, it was packed!
Great info and content you could never find on regular TV.
We’re going to be here next week. Can’t wait, looks amazing!
Amazing and beautiful 🌸
Thank you josh.
Beautiful! Reminds me of the trails in North Vancouver (Goat Mountain, Lynn Headwaters...). Think you'd love British Columbia!...
Awesome video you guys. Can't wait to make it up there.
Great job you two.
Thanks for detailing the journey to the trailhead. Super helpful for planning my trip. :)
awesome!
We have been to Fern Canyon in personal, it's beautiful. Redwood National Park is one of the best park in the US.
Beautiful thanks a lot
I think we parked before you drove through the creek and walked up the creek. We haven’t been there for over 20 years so your video was fun to see again. Thanks for sharing!
No problem, glad you got a chance to visit it!
Great video my man!
beautiful
You can also start from Patrick creek park trailhead. 9 mile round trip. All through thick redwood forest
I was looking at that and I want to do that next time I go!
@@californiathroughmylens it's about a 3 to 4 hour hike. It's all groomed trails with little elevation gain or loss.
Very beautiful place. Would love to visit sometime.
You went back to it! I've been wanting to go here, but it's a 12 hour drive. I gotta plan mini stops along the way.
Josh you make some dope videos brother
I was just there this May 2019...bumpy road even in a Toyota Tacoma
The end of that dirt road is brutal.. we thought we were gonna blow out the ball joints in our truck from all the rocks 😅
This one has been on my bucket list for 6 years now. I need to wait for my 2 month old to get older so he can share this experience with me.
I really loved going here especially knowing that this place is where Walking with Dinosaurs was filmed.
What a lovely place to escape to.
I agree!
One of my favorite places!!! We Made it through the river in a rental Chevy Cruz 😂😂😂👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
We missed going to Fern Canyon when we were up in that area. It's going on our list for the next time. Thanks for sharing the beauty. ~Lucy
Always a reason to come back to that area, so much awesome stuff to explore
Whoa Nellie RV Adventures You messed up big time that's like going to Paris and not checking out the Eiffel tower!
@@jonmacdonald5345 All the more reason to put it on the list for next time. Thank You Jon.
I’ve been on Fern Canyon, and he is absolutely correct that the view is incredible!!! We we went, three years ago, we drove our car through the [almost dry] creek bed to the parking lot. Fern Canyon is awesome! (We saw it on our way back from Multnomah Falls, Oregon and Seattle and Olympic Nation Forest. I don’t know if California Through My Lens has a video on the Grand Canyon, but it’s awesome!!! (Hiked the park on my way back from Moab, Utah). There a great BBQ place at Glen Canyon damn and Horseshoe Bend that you should check out!!! You can see Zion the best from Lava Point Overlook (8,000 feet!!!). I could type a whole page. Lol
Glad you agree about the views! Interesting that the creek was basically dry when you went as well. I just hiked rim to rim on the Grand Canyon and will have a video on that on my other channel in the next few weeks. I agree that there is so much awesome stuff to see in the southwest like you said though!
Josh and Amy this video also awesome and the St. Louis one I give it three thumbs up on that one I would love to go there myself maybe one day I will finally travel United States anyways thank you for another great video I am so glad When I stumbled across your channels Wayback when
Thanks for watching both the videos and subscribing to both the channels. It means a lot to us!
Looks like something this old phart can do but I will take my water boots! Thanks!
I was trying to think why I only went there twice in the year I lived in Eureka! Forgot it was because you have to pay to enter...Still, it is well worth seeing at least once. Really cool and unique place!
Haha, lots of spots in that area with no fees for sure but this one is worth the $8
Hey, Josh! Love your videos. Very well edited.
The bad thing is that they don´t last long. Hahaha
haha thanks! I tried to make this as long as I could for a 1.5 mile hike haha
JOSH&AMY!!!!

Thank for leaving a like, appreciate it!
I wonder how it is during September? I’m going there in a few days!
Great video, I love fern canyon. Did you check out any restaurants in Humboldt County? The palm cafe in Orick has excellent breakfast options
I will have to check that one out next time. We went to Renata's Creperie and it was really great!
You’re right. Words and video can’t really describe the beauty of fern canyon. I guess I’ll just have to see it for myself. Road trip!!!! 🚘 🛣. Didn’t you make a video on fern canyon years ago? If my mind serves me correctly.
Yea, it never looks as good on the video, even in 4K. You have to see it! Yep, I made a video a while back that is on the channel, it is pretty funny to watch how far the videos have come haha
California Through My Lens yes you’re videos have improved. Like the AV poppy reserve video was fun to watch the before and after. Great stuff always a pleasure to watch you’re videos.
Nice Video, looks like a relaxing hike! Have you ever hiked in Washington State, Its already winter in the mountains but still fall in lower elevation. If you ever need recommendations hit me up. I started posting on my channel of my recent trips and adventures.
Hi I was just there today is it down this dusty road ‘Davison Road’ that you have to drive to get to the park entrance fee portion. Was almost going to gravel bike it but that first hill looked intense a lot of unknowns. A couple of older folks with e bikes were going to do it no way to know if they went all the way I like to think they did!
further past the avenue of the giants yes? that's where I saw the redwoods
Firstareeno for Fern

Where do you stay over night? Hotel in Eureka?
It’s not that bad. You can drive that in any vehicle
Did you take the mushroom home?
Daymmm I got a prius lol
Been there before Excellent place to fire up a blunt with family and friends!
Does Fern Caynon allow dogs?

Where is the Grand canyon video? Also why isn't the sexy cowboy narrating this?
Working on the Grand Canyon video, it will be up in a few weeks! No cowboys narrating though
Most enjoyable videos are those of nature, interrupted only by limited commentary and pictures of humans
Dude you re missing huge opportunity to make your videos cinematic, throw away this cheesy free music from background and make nice editing with atmospheric sound, c’mon
Boring place tbh
