I'm starting to think that my kit that I bought is maybe just too old or abused. I got a Yamaha Stage Custom 22" with Evans EC2 batter head with foam ring and the same old Factory black resonant head that has Yamaha written on it with no mic hole. My drum sounds like I used a garbage bag instead of a batter head. I'm was thinking of buying a new fleet head for the kick drum, then I read that I have too much soft furniture in the den. I am now going to watch every kick drum tuning video I can find and then put my knowledge to work.....hopefully I can make these drums sound good, or I'm selling them.
