1st one is the best so far, it checked most of the boxes, only thing is the kitchen is pretty out of date for my taste but if you guys like it that’s what matters
the great thing about that kitchen is that you wouldn't need to knock any walls down! I'd deff want to change the countertops and possibly the cabinets, but those fixes are ideal!
I just went through this in LA and it's the worst, we finally bought one after several months of searching. godspeed!

omg i've never related to the no flip rule harder. after months we ended up getting a new build townhouse in Alameda because Bay Area single family home flips are abundant. Hopefully things cool off in 5-10 years and we can move into a single family with some style.

I love the House # 1 !!! Great natural light coming in the house. The kitchen going to the dining area is nice as well. The windows are amazing!!! Plus the yard but since you want a pool. You should look for more houses.

First one for me! We are moving next week and it used to be a small Norwegian farm, now its just the house, small barn and a large yard! I cant wait to decorate for Christmas🥰

I love how you also hate flips. Like I can’t stand how people can just rip all the charm and character out of an old heritage home. It’s my dream to get an older fixer upper and restore it to its former glory, not just completely renovate it into a modern monstrosity, but actually recreate what it once was.
Agreed!! I would love to start a renovating houses business in the future. I'd want to restore the character to the house and make them each unique not the usual cookie cutter flipped houses nowadays.

My boyfriend and I bought our first house in August ! It was so stressful and we put in almost 10 offers. We were always second best and I definitely feel like it was because we were going for a 3 bedroom, and our conpetition was all families when we don't have children. The flip situation in Sacramento is insane, too. They would list for 249k and sell for over 400k.
Also that old man was probably jealous that younger folks were buying a house over a mil lol

The housing market in Melbourne (actually all of Australia) is hectic - prices have risen over 20% in a year. In my perfect suburb (where I currently rent), $800k gets you a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom unit or townhouse with a courtyard. And that’s a 30 min drive from the city too. It’s just fucked. Unless you have family to help you out or you can live at home to save, it’s just impossible. Good luck! The houses you’re looking at are absolutely stunning! Much nicer than the basic houses we have over here!

number 1, 3 and 4 were the best in different ways. but man THOSE PRICES. Excited to see you continue the journey and find the right house for hopefully some semi less ridiculous price point.
Unless Mike Holmes inspects any home you wish to buy, have separate plumber, HVAC, electrician and roofer to inspect rather than an all-in-one. Especially where the market is like LA! Better, move to somewhere else where houses are 1/3 to 1/2 as much.

I'd say 1 or 3 would be my favourites 😍
Oh and if you really like a place, drive by it at different times of the day to get a feel for what the neighborhood is like and if there are any nightmare neighbors.
Yes! I even did this apartment hunting. I would drive by at night to see if I felt safe at night, I’d check out the parking gate periodically to see if it was broken/left open for long periods of time because I had issues with that before, etc. I wish I had done that at the previous house I rented because there were frat boy neighbors that partied until 4am every night of the week and it was awful. I live in a city right now for school and that is really good advice.

The real estate in Toronto is similar. They will price houses low to create a bidding war then boast “HOUSE SOLD FOR $400k OVER ASKING” and I’m like …. You’re done.

Ok so funny because my husband found house #1 on Redfin and was trying to get me to go to the open house and I didn't want to drag our two small kids, so I'm glad you did and I can now show him this video.
It's hard to say which I liked best, the first three all have nice points, I also love the tile in #2 and the kitchen in #3. Honestly being in Los Angeles it's all about location, location, location, provided the house is reasonably livable.
Also the old couples are probably boomers using their excess cash and cheap mortgage rates to buy investment properties to rent out to millenials who need a place to live but have been priced out of the market. It was rude for them to comment you were too young to buy a house because, hello, in the 70s and 80s it was very common to buy a home in your twenties, and it's only recently that that's changed due to economic factors outside of our control.

The last one was a clear no from me. Even if its cheap, if there is already so much stuff bothering you, you won't really be happy there in the future and for that it's still a lot of money.
I always participate when you do those price guessing insta stories and I've been getting better. For the first ones I was way off because I unterestimated how fucking expensive LA is. Especially if those houses are so not my style, with all those carpets, all beige or grey and white.

The square footage bathrooms and bedrooms is what my house I paid like 85k for in January in northern New York

I'm sure you can't share exactly locations for safety reasons, but knowing the neighborhoods these houses are in would be so helpful! And the list prices. We're hoping to buy in LA in the next couple years so these are so helpful! Can't wait to keep watching!

Beautiful homes, it is crazy to me how expensive it is to buy a house in different parts of the world. A 3000 Sq ft home brand new would go for under 400 000$ here.

Been looking for a house for 8 months in New England. My spouse got a job there. Every house we look at is either sold in less than a day, or they want $350k+ for an absolute dump. I'm sure you'll find a house and move before we even get an offer accepted.
