    J’adore !!! Savez vous que vous pouvez utiliser un cutter céramique ou une gomme mono zéro pour faire toutes les brillances ? J’ai testé sur drafting film et c’est génial …je n’ai pas encore votre talent mais j’apprends et persévère 😉

    Very nice. The black curves out a bit more under the eye but I know that it takes a lot of time a looking. I love to add a bit of indigo black on the lighted areas since it is practically complimentary. Your work looks wonderful. Not everyone takes to using the same substrate bI enjoy it also but it depends on how much blending is required and animals lend well to it along with Polychromos and Pablos with a touch of the more wax based. Lovely and I look forward to seeing it! Thank you!😊

    Hello Karen, love your tutorials......i would love to start with the cat on drafting film and then watched this!!!! Stunning. So I got th reference photo and cropped like you said, but is there a line art as well/ I could not find it.........Greetings from The Netherlands, Angelique

    • @ArtbyKarenValentine
      @ArtbyKarenValentine  Před rokem +1

      Hi Angelique! Thank you so much! Unfortunately I don’t have line art for this drawing. I would suggest you take a thin piece of paper (like printer paper) the size of your drafting film, and use a light box or window to trace the line art using the reference photo underneath. Then you can just place the line art behind the drafting film when drawing. Another option is to keep the cat facing right and trace the line art directly on the back of the film. That way when you flip it, the pencil marks are on the backside of the film. I often erase as needed, once I’ve completed an area. I hope that helps!❤️❤️❤️

    I loved watching you layer the different colors on top of each other and how realistic the fur looks! I may have to try it myself, though I am very intimidated by fur. Did you say that you printed the image on the back of the film? You mentioned an app, something like Da Vinci, is that what you used to reduce the image to outlines? I have to add that while your animal drawings are AMAZING, I do miss your videos on coloring pages.

    • @ArtbyKarenValentine
      @ArtbyKarenValentine  Před 2 lety

      Thank you Alexandra! The app is called davinci eye. I have a video on 4 ways to transfer your sketch to your surface. The app just hovers the reference photo over your paper and you sketch it right from there. I like to sketch right on the back of the film, but many people sketch onto a piece of paper and just put it behind the film.
      I’m sorry about not doing coloring pages anymore. I’m not saying I never will again, but I’m just following my heart and this is where it’s leading me. ❤️❤️❤️

    Hi Karen. First, thank you for your comment regarding colours, mainly dark ones fading. When I first started, it drove me crazy when that happened, but none of the teachers mentioned it-of course, not knowing any better, I would use more and more pressure which only made things worse. I have not had that problem on drafting film because I have a much lighter touch now and erase way less. But, today, I could not get the second eyeof the leopard right, so it resorted to some heavy erasing. I though drafting fil was impervious to damage. I have had to start again be able no matter what I did after my aggressive erasing, the colour fading away before my eyes. I checked with a film guru, and discover that film does have touch and it damage by aggressive erasing which causes the colour to fade. Who knew?,

    • @ArtbyKarenValentine
      @ArtbyKarenValentine  Před rokem

      Oh that’s such a bummer! I still can’t figure out where the color “goes” as there is no tooth for it to sink down into as with some other papers. It’s been quite a while since I did a drafting film piece. I need to do one soon. I miss it!

    Hi Karen…color pencil is a slow medium…but I have a feeling that it is a little faster on drafting film than on paper…is that true?

    • @ArtbyKarenValentine
      @ArtbyKarenValentine  Před 2 lety

      I definitely find that to be true Thea. There is no need to work so hard to fill the tooth of the paper. You can get to details right away. It’s my favorite surface for colored pencil. The Grafix .005 double matte is the way to go. 😊

    Karen, why do you tape the numbers to your pencils? You refer to them by name. How are you using the numbers? Storage? I like it anyway, as I have trouble reading the colour names and numbers on the pencils.

    • @ArtbyKarenValentine
      @ArtbyKarenValentine  Před 2 lety

      It’s my own storage system Bunny. I don’t like the numbering system on the pencils, so added my own. My swatch chart has the corresponding number. Now it’s super easy to find the color I want and put them all away where they belong in the case. There is a video showing how I swatch and number them. I’ll see if I can find it for you.
