Thanks :-) - Věda a technologie
I really love how there is an unspoken rule on the restoration channels - no annoying music or chatter. Just the piece, the person and the job. Fantastic stuff!
Thanks a lot :-)
The editing and camera work must take a lot of effort.
I love the sound of LADB videos... I enjoy listening to these videos, even with my eyes closed.
I was totally mesmerised by this whole process - hadn’t watched serious restoration much, but the love, respect & care given to this piece has hooked me.... sooo glad you restored that glorious rich and happy green, too.... Loved the cat inspections, the furry tick of approval - and when you came to making coffee....yumma.... ✅
Thank you for this.... ❤️
@@thedifferenttraveller5684 . . . due to the absence of noise and chatter ....it becomes meditation...
No speaking... unspoken. Heh...
Nice to see the cat earning his wages by supervising the entire project so magnificently, and then inspecting the finished article. The tail flick indicates that it's passed.

I have a friend who calls it "the cat scan"!! :)

I just discovered the world of youtube restoration videos a week or so ago and I absolutely love your channel. There's something so peaceful and uplifting about watching old, neglected objects lovingly brought back to their former glory. Maybe it's silly, but watching a stove or coffee grinder be restored is my new favorite way to unwind after work. I've always liked antiques and vintage objects and it does my heart good to see that some people are still dedicated to preserving them. (Also, I like your orange kitty!)

Você tem razão, eu estou a pouco tempo vendo e já sou fã!
It breaks my heart to see pieces like this so warped and rusted. The piece itself is a work of art. I love to see new life breathed into items like this.
I love how he tries to keep as much of the original as possible. And even in the broken parts, he repairs them, only replacing the non salvageable parts.
That's what a restoration means
@@scottandrews62 yet there are numerous restoration channels that replace every single piece where convenient. Basically rebuilding instead of restoring
I love that too!
alot of other channels basically throw out the entire piece and remake it from scratch, not that thats not cool to watch but is it really still an antique if the whole thing was pretty much replaced?
Such a salient point, indeed 👌💕
so many videos are ruined by rambling blather and/or overwhelming background music 😳
I forgot where all the pieces went as soon as he unscrewed them. What an art
I actually saw someone asking this on a different restoration channel and the person replyed with, ton of pictures and rewatching the footage.
Which makes sense since you'll possibly forget after a couple of days so its good to keep notes.
Such a beautiful stove! I love the green enamel it came with.
I always wondered why this was and is the most popular colour for stoves. They sell the remakes with this very colour im the big box hardware stores. Also it wasn't limited to metal stoves. As an East German I've seen quite a lot of coal heating in my childhood and they all had a nasty cheap ceramic version of this green.
Maybe this enamel pigment was cheap and durable? It can't only be a choice of fashion. People would have picked blue and red at one point.
Me too - it’s so pretty.
Sweet, I have this model of stove
@@Hortifox_the_gardener this is just pure speculation, but I know in america in like, the late ish 1800s, green, especially bright green was super popular for kitchens, like people would paint their kitchens or dining rooms bright green because they thought the color aided in digestion. (it didn't, in fact the green paint they used was super full of arsenic) so maybe thats something to do with it??? idk

That’s one of the prettiest greens I’ve ever seen.
It looks like a piece of McCoy pottery.
Wouldn't be surprised if it was made out of some toxic substance!! Its very pretty indeed
I agree. Its really unique..
Indeed, very beautyful. A wonderful stove too worth restoring.
Probably Paris green. It's that really beautiful emerald color that was popular in the 19th century until people found out arsenic is extremely toxic
The people that save items from the landfill and breath life back into them are gold! Pure gold!

Драгоценные руки мастеров, создавших такую красоту и заново его возродивших, браво.
For those interested as I am in antiques, this is an enamelled cast iron Art Nouveau wood stove from Le Brulbois, Fonderies Arthur Martin. It would be nice to see the names of the items you restore in case other's are interested like I am in acquiring one. Beautiful restoration, however!
Yes, I agree
So how old is this stove approximately? Thank you!
@@vietnamthemedgamesteam5749 well, Art Nouveau was popular between 1890 and 1910, I would say this beauty is from 1903 so can you imagine all the things this little stove has seen especially in France with two world wars? Just a magnificent piece of funcional art work.
Yes, between 1890 and 1910

Wow - I knew enamel paint was hard-wearing, but geez, look at the shine on that!
I believe that is not paint at all. That is kiln-fired enamel glaze. Cast iron with a glass coating.
That is by far the most beautiful little stove I've ever seen. The color is so amazing, you've done a wonderful job!

This stove is a beautiful example of how much time and craftsmanship was used in the past! Loved this restoration!
not so much. It was made in a factory, using tools that made the process quicker.
not so much. It was made in a factory, using tools that made the process quicker.
These things were dumped out by foundaries like there was no tomorrow. It's just a box with some cast iron decorative parts screwed together. Cast iron isn't used as much these days, but if you look at the stove tops or barbeque grills - that kind of thing.
That is a lot of idealising the past. You only find actual stunning craftsmanship in high class luxury items of the time or in anything that predates the industrial revolution. They are pretty and well made anyways thpugh. People of the time would think not more than a few seconds about switching to what we use for cooking and heating nowadays for way less money than what they had to spend on for fuel.
I can certainly understand wanting to restore that stove-- beautiful piece! Flawless, masterful work. Superb!
i cannot get over how pretty that stove is, that is a beautiful green it came in
Just imagine how proud some woman was when she had this stove set up in her family’s house. She probably had her neighbors over for tea to show off this lovely green stove. Beautiful

Im not keen on the lurid green myself but as a period piece its an excellent restoration.
The steel became dark because of carbonization due to high temperature.
Thanks, was looking for an answer to that!
@@alyssav2124 Same. I was pretty certain I knew, but I like having the confirmation.
True, but it's not steel it's cast iron which is porous, and when it expands from the heat carbon gets trapped slowly changing the chemical structure of the iron

You know sh*t is about to get real when the concrete comes out in a restoration video
Ciment fondu
I love french...we have funny words
It really goes to show what a ide variety of skills are required when doing this kind of work
Fire stone not concrete. That is why it is crumbly.
14:28 the metal is dark because it's covered in black iron oxide. Unlike the red iron oxide (rust), it's pretty strong, and forms a protective coating
Hot salt bluing ( the process which makes the steel on guns black) is essentially the same as this. Just a more controlled coating of the oxide. And because its an oxide no new oxide can form on it with ease so its rust resistant.
I think the same 😉
Or japanese black...
Is it the same as ‘seasoned’ cast iron pans. I have one that is black and doesn’t rust so long as you don’t wash the black off with soapy water.
