Nope I don't find him interesting, he is a common person you can find anywhere having a parent that has too many expectations for him. Yet he himself doesn't know what to do or goal in his life.
He's definitely interesting in that he's never felt loved by his parents, and only now he feels adoration from the common people.
It's because he's not a good person. Dude rapes maidens and has a ton of bastards.
I just wish he wasn't a rapist lol. Like if he started out as just a sympathetic drunk who's suddenly thrown into this position of power, and during the civil war snaps mentally (and physically 😉).

He will have more screen time for sure but I think Alicent will remains the main Green character. Anyway, we'll see but I'll prefer if they well keep Alicent and Rhaenyra as the main protagonists of the show until the end.
In the book Aegon was out of the picture most of the war, Aemond was the real leader, he even wore the crown as Regent
@ Aemond did not wear the crown, he was prince reagent for 6 months while Aegon recovered from his injuries at rook's rest, the show also cut out the fact that Aegon flew around King's Landing 3 times after he was crowned, and in the war Aegon was very active, he was not a side character

Otto's and his councils idea to install Aegon II as king, was because they believed he is easy to manipulate. Making him nothing more than a puppet king that will further their own agenda. How wrong they are once Aegon tasted power. A dragon can't be completely tamed
I like the subtle implications of how the show depicted Aegon's character. He never wanted the throne and everyone thought he fought to keep that crown - but truth was he fought to keep that crowd
To be honest, if Aemond or Daeron was the firstborn, I'm pretty sure the Green Council would still push for him to be King. Has little to do with Aegon II being a poor politician
The King's Firstborn Son is the designated rightful Heir, given just about evey Targaryen King before and after this was chosen due to this and Male Primogeniture.

The sword crossing, the tapestry, proud Otto enjoying his life’s work, the veiled & somber Queen kissing his forehead, the Septons marking his forehead,.. "All Hail His Grace...King of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men"...finally justice done to the proclamation of a new Absolute Monarch in GoT. I was blown away by the details in the coronation. It felt like watching Nicholas II being crowned in an Orthodox ceremony with all the hollow pomp & circumstance of a rotting system. It's what I'd always envisioned from a GoT coronation. Tom Glynn-Carney was terrific in bringing out Aegon's fear, hesitation, pride & euphoria all at once. I'm glad they kept the much despised Criston putting the Conqueror's crown on Aegon II's head. The Kingmaker is born! What the show's doing really well is the details, down to splitting the treasury or locking up servants. Usually the passionate debates, the treachery, the heartbreak are glossed over & we only see the regime change as "fait accompli". This bring to life the mechanism that historically goes behind a coup, which I assume is as emotionally taxing for the people seizing power. That's why I like agonized & conflicted Alicent more than her steadfast source counterpart. It feels more flesh & blood. She vacillates but her messianic fear for her children fates her to make a cursed gamble.
Aegon is my king and prince of Westeros's realm. The rightful heir to the seven kingdoms. Can't wait for season 2. Excellent tribute and shows his pain and side well.

Well done! This video has a different take on Aegon, definitely made Aegon seem more menacing. It gives the ‘descent to darkness’ vibes. To me Aegon began as a drunken idiot and comic relief but his family pushed him to inane limits, and now there is no turning back. They did a good job making him hilariously wacky despite how despicable he is supposed to be.

At 00:19 when Aegon is eating is actually a really good piece of acting, many alcoholics struggle to eat because they drink their carbs, so you have to sort of chew and force it down. Just a lil observation

Everytime I watch one of these videos, I'm like thinking of the quote Ragnar Lodbrok says in Vikings, "Power is always dangerous. It attracts the worst and corrupts the best. Power is only given to those who are prepared to lower themselves, to pick it up." And I personally believe if Aegon had the will to change early on in his life and throw out Otto, he would've been a better man and future King, without the need to feel threatened by Rhaenyra. Figuratively speaking, Daemon and Aemond have the will to do what is needed to actually have the power to make things happen.

@@queenxx1690 without Aegon Meleys would have killed Vhagar and Aemond . Daeron died in his first dragon and he teamed up with a Velaryon dude who rode Seasmoke . Vermithor killed both if I remember correctly , I read the book a long time ago

I mean there are other characters in the books that are interesting. Tyrion, Theon, Jaime. Stannis is similar because he is the rightful king but yet not alot of people supported him at first. Give the books a try, they are great.
