The Wizards have been irrelevant for most of my life. I’ve been rooting for them since we had MJ. Arenas + co gave us moments, Wall + Beal false dawns, but they never made real noise in the playoffs. No 50 win seasons or Conference Finals appearances in 40 years is grounds to fold as a franchise. I can only hope the new management know what they’re doing. The only positive for us is cheap tickets.
That and the fact that mushrooms are legal in Washington DC. Nothing like a ball game while tripping hard. 😆😆😆😆😆

I thought they had a chance back in the early 2000's with Arenas, Caon Butler, Antwon Jameson, and Larry Hughes too but they never lived up to expectations or could beat a young Lebron team. The Celtics had their big 3 + Rando at the time as well.

This is the 4th superteam KD has been a part of in the past 6 years. The funny thing is that Phoenix still has the same problem before the postseason started which is no bench.
That’s not a super team. The only team that you can call a super team that KD played for was the Warriors. If you wanna say BK if they didn’t get hurt, I wouldn’t disagree. This one, no. That bench is too thin to call this a super team.

Wizards could have collected 4 FRP's for Beal after the 2020 season. Bucks tried getting him for that and got shot down so they gave the 4 FRP's to Pelicans for Jrue Holiday which paid off with a Championship! Bucks in the end got the better player.

I love the way everything is coming together for Spurs now. They get a generational talent that one day might be a top 5 in the league, the CBA works absolutely in their favor and they still have picks to trade for players whenever Wemby is ready to play for a title. Legit chance to get another title within 5 years.

Washington is the only team I can think of that got finessed by two players both on 5-year supermax contracts that previously claimed they both wanted to be there for the long term. They really gave John Wall and Bradley Beal close to $500M in separate contracts and neither of them played it out for Washington. I know John Wall got injured repeatedly but he still got traded before that last year was up, and Bradley Beal requested a trade after being the only player in the NBA with a no trade clause.
That’s the organization’s fault. If they continually don’t build good rosters the players are simply taking those contracts in good faith the organization will build around them. I can’t ever blame a player for taking a contract that’s offered to them.
Wall just got hurt but Beal never should’ve gotten that type of money.

WELL SAID:...BEAL that type of player that would be great as a 2nd star but not as a 1st star....biggest mistake was not trading him after that STAT PADDING year ...WIZARDS could have fool a lot of teams...instead they gave him a huge contract that basically made him a player nobody wanted to trade for...
Bucks offered Wizards 4 FRP's after that year for Beal and got shot down so they gave those picks to Pelicans for Jrue Holiday who lead them to a Chip.

@@Ryan-wx1bi True, but I recall many in the media at the time saying Bucks did a huge overpay for Jrue. How wrong they were when it immediately turned into a Chip just months after we made the trade. Only worrying thing is Jrue said he's going to retire when his contract is up in 2 years so imo Bucks need to trade him this offseason and get whatever they can for him. He's coming off his first all star appearance in 10 years and averaged 19/7/5 and 40% from 3pt.

The money wasn't even the worst part of that contract. Its the no trade clause that really crippled the wizards and which makes that front office one of the dumbest in NBA history imo. You could kinda argue beal was worth 250 mil for the wizards when he was averaging 30ppg on crazy efficiency, for the simple fact he was a homegrown elite scorer that fans loved to watch. In other words he was a strong draw for fans to come out and watch wizards games. But when he became the SECOND option behind KUZMA I just shook my damn head like wtf the wizards thinking?? Why is kuzma getting more shots than beal?? To me that hurt beal's value even more cuz he went from 30ppg to a sad 23ppg real quick.
Honestly everything about Beal's contract was horrible. He's never been top 10 in the league at any point, EVERY team views him as a 2nd option on a title contender AT BEST (assuming they think his horrible defense isn't too much to overcome to contend for a title) and is the 6th highest contract in the league going into the new CBA. All that being said, the Suns didn't have to give up much assets, but he might not even score 20 ppg for them and is a monster contract.

Swish is spot on with this one. Washington should’ve traded Beal a few years ago where they could’ve gotten quality assets for him. Now they’ve lost Beal, KP and possibly Kuz for not a lot. They could be in purgatory for a while, because they could’ve had multiple opportunities to help build this roster out better.
They’ll probably make the same mistake with Kuzma, pay him way more than he’s worth just for him to request a trade at seasons end.

The offseason has been off to a crazy start with these trades the last few days. The Draft is tonight and Free Agency is next Friday. Idk what could possible happen next. It's going to be wild next two weeks.

Great video! I don't think it is that bad for the Wizards now that all the dust has settled. Pool and Kuzma are both worth first round picks for sure and their value is only going to go up barring injury. Coulibali and Vucevic both look like potential NBA rotation players with good upside. Tyus Jones, Avdija, Delon Wright, and Gafford are a fun defensive unit if nothing else and if there is one thing that competitive teams want its good defensive players. Corey Kispert is looking like the steal of his draft right now, and has nowhere to go but up with the amount of looks he will be getting in the new offense.
That and the pick swaps which will be hitting right as GSW and Phoenix are starting their own rebuilds will give this team an interesting trajectory. The only problem that I see is that this roster might actually just be too good as constructed to fully rebuild.
Honestly, I hope Victor can stay healthy and gain some mass and strength so he's not injury prone.

The spurs tanked the whole season yet we applaud them for it. It's so interesting. That organization was the one fueled the load management epidemic but no one seems to blame them for anything.
Spurs still started off year hot and if you actually watched their basketball games you would know many games were close. They are a young, Scrappy team. They just sucked and had no top end talent. This isn’t process sixers of 2015. There’s a reason they didn’t get penalized.

Most teams that become a dumping station for the league are there permanently because they don't do it with a strategy. If you do it with a plan over a period of like 4 years where you strategically gain assets while helping teams make deals, dump cap and buyout stuff you can slowly amass a wealth of options. If you competently gather some role players in free agency as well you can be sellers on most deadlines. In the end once you want to go for it and start using the assets to build then you simply stop taking in trash and cleaning it for others. Just requires a the will to do it.

The competition for trades is so dependent on relationships with other NBA teams and many complex things that you just have no idea what challenges there are. You cannot even imagine the complexities involved. Talking heads.
