If the phone indicates that it is charging there's a very good chance that it really is charging. If your battery power drops rapidly, that's a sign of a bad battery. It may not accept a charge at all even though the phone indicates that it is charging.

I'm wondering too. Same phone. Dropped one too many times I think, and the port doesn't want to consistently connect with the charging cable
What kind and size screwdriver for the screws? Mine look like stars or hexagons.
