      Aliens: _"Humans don't follow galactic laws. They steal resources from planets belonging to other alien races. Humans are bandits and outlaws. They have not changed since the 2000s, when the United States attacked all countries that refused to sell them all their natural resources for a pittance."_
      Humans: _"How dare you impose on Humans the same laws that are imposed on all the alien races in the galaxy? We will never lower ourselves to their level. Prepare... we are coming!"_

      @flitsertheo Před měsícem +1

      Funny but some of these stories always end in a brawl between the 2 main opponents.

    • @whyjnot420
      @whyjnot420 Před měsícem

      @@flitsertheo I get having a climactic fight in a story. But whatever stitched this story together (I refuse to believe this came from a human), clearly had no clue how B follows A. Let alone any understanding of how an actual battle works.
      Conflation of warrior and soldier tropes can be fine. But conflation of high level leader with soldier or warrior tropes is so boneheaded that the first to come up with such trash must have been Minbari.
      The biggest flaw in this particular story is perhaps the easiest to avoid. Split the 'hero admiral' (depending on setting this could also be 'hero general' or even 'hero politician', basically any heroic leader) and 'hero warrior' (warrior fits better than soldier for big 1 v 1 clashes, but the character can of course actually be a soldier) into 2 characters instead of making them the same. E.g. Mass Effect. Which even goes so far as to have 2 'hero admirals' just so one of them can actually be in the thick of the fighting.

    Question,how exactly do you block an entire solar system?
    How do you stop faster than light travel?
    Does anyone know how big a solar system is?
    It’s freaking huge!

    • @NathanBChampine
      @NathanBChampine Před měsícem

      My question exactly. A 360 degree blockade will be very difficult, but that's writer's privilige.

    • @PsychoticEwok
      @PsychoticEwok Před 29 dny

      Any story that has blockading a solar system I assume the FTL travel works in a similar way to star wars (incredibly risky and not worth the risk for large ships if not via established routes)

    How is the center of the galactic council a symbol of unity and peace when it effectively tried to blockade a species for no reason other than paranoia?

      Russians defend their country from the encirclement of their country by NATO (USA) and their nuclear missiles.
      While Russia attacked Ukraine (to protect Russian speaking Ukrainians in the Donbass) the US attacked Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Libya, Syria, North-West Pakistan, Serbia, Yemen, Niger, Northeastern Kenya, ... The USA is the CANCER of the world.

    So, we laugh in the face of intragalactic law, we invade and seize others land. Manifest Destiny 2.0. The picture of the Earth leader and hoard of soldiers is about as authoritarian and dictatorial as it gets. When the galaxy at large tries to rein in the Earth we declare war and attack everyone. Nice view of a future Humanity. Also, our overwhelming power and apparent invincibility in the face of an advanced galactic civilization is strictly third grade stuff.
