they definitely should have talked about game-to-game differences more in this whole series, especially after they did such a beautiful job visualizing game mechanics in Aincrad. I do think they gave a very short explanation or at least you can kind of grasp it, in terms of ALO dual-wielding: it is not true dual wielding, Kirito is literally just holding 2 swords but can't really use them in combination. You can see it somewhat okay here, he finishes his ice-attack with 1 sword all the way through before he does anything with the other sword. And he has to do his 4-hit combo all with the same sword. I'm sure there's other ALO scenes where everything falls apart, rules be damned. But this one is actually kinda nice.
@@Gamefreak175 I haven't watched S3 of SAO, but I feel like there should've been some way to dual wield in ALO. I know there isn't I just wish there was bc it felt short lived, like Kayaba's echo fixed a bug. I don't like it.
I'm pretty sure the 'Skill Connect' system here works like it does in Alicization Lycoris. While there is no "true" dual-wielding, there exists a window between Sword Skill uses where another Skill can be used to ignore the lag time that occurs when you use the initial Skill. Think of it like a chain. Usually you can only chain basic attacks because skills are more powerful and therefore can't be used consecutively. Skill Connect allows you to chain a limited number of Sword Skills. In Alicization Lycoris, there's a superior version called Skill Connect Ex, which activates when you connect Sword Skills in an ascending fashion. That mean using lower tiered skills to higher tiered ones, where each skill recieves a damage multiplier the further you can rise in tiers while linking skills.
Let's all acknowledge that some of these movements are the same from when he used starburst stream for the first time and also how klein is literally in the exact same position when he saw kirito use it aswell
The other name for a skill connect is SSC also known as Sword Skill Chain. The higher the chain the higher the dmg output is This is hard to do (if sao is real in our life)
yep true but In SAO gameverse the SSC system of the game makes even more difficult for everyone since the time frames keeps getting smaller when chain longer
I mean, he can still equip 2 swords, he just can't use Sword Skill from the Dual Wield Skill, since that skill doesn't exist, but he doesn't need to have to skill to equip 2 swords (at least in ALO, were Sword Skills didn't exist initially). That being said, he did re-create some of his Dual Wielding Sword Skills as Original Sword Skills, but he's still unable to re-create Starburst Stream in ALO.
@@insecure8926 The Dual Wielding Sword Skill from SAO also gives him 1.8x boost to his attack speed This one doesn't And no. He did not manage to recreate a single Dual Wielding skill as an OSS. Not even Double Circular
its not that, he used an in-game system called skill connect. it lets a player use sword skills repeatedly without the delay from just using one individually. Kirito himself said he can use it 3 to 4 times without lagging if hes lucky.
Yea the thing is tho it’s kinda hard for him to not die while using it as you said he try not to get a delayed swing because if he did then he would be dead
The novels explain it as kirito starting a second skill just as the first one ends and chains the skills together, but the lag time afterwards do stack so if he doesn't kill his opponents by the end of his chain, then he's a sitting duck.

Vorpal strike, the skill that broke the dark repulser sword after the eclipse sword skill, the skill he last used againts gleam eye's during the starburst stream
This scene is awesome because of SSC. For who dont know about sword skill chain (or connect), in the sao games you can chain your sword skills (but you cant use different weapon's skills like this scene) Firstly Kirito using one hand sword skill with the right sword after that he using another one hand sword skill with the left sword. This makes SSC2. Then he using his dual sword skill Horizontal Square for SSC3 then finally he using Vorpal Strike which one hand sword skill and the result is SSC4. (Every SSC increase damage: Damage x SSC Bonus)
one thing, horizontal square is still a 1-handed sword skill as kirito uses the black sword for all 4 hits, ALO has no dual-blade skills as dual wielding does not exist in alo
And that is how it works I the video games of SAO but in the show and the books after you use a sword skill you get imoble for a few seconds the stronger the skills the longer cooldown but Kirito basically wile he is using 1 skill with his right hand is moving his left hand to start the second skill at just the right time less then a split second is enough to ruin it
@@argusrogue69420 Sadly, no. Sure some might have liked her and were sad, but that isn’t it. It’s because the story and how it plays out isn’t very good at times.
