    Hi Larry, thanks for the inspiration and tips. Here’s one back! To avoid the water drop on lenses problem, I successfully tried a tip from my Dad who used potato peelings rubbed on his car windscreen to shed rain water. It works on the GoPro Max lenses! Just rub the inside side of a potato peel on both lenses, then gently rinse off with water. Next time filming in the water the lenses will shed the water. Hope this helps. PS. Don’t use it on GoPro 10 which already has a treated lense.

    Thanks for the tip. I am just exploring this sport and have been wondering how people get the amazing shots and was beginning to think, since there is no pole in the shot, that they had a body tracking drone or something! Yes, naïve, but the shots are sick. I will have to go back through your video to jot down the specs for the poles. Given the cost of the go pro I think I will add a leash which I saw mentioned on a video of the AeroPro mount. Thanks again for the great information.

    Great tips. I've been messing around with different camera setups for my wing recently. Could you possibly provide details of the diameter of PVC pipe and the end caps etc you used as well as how you attach the GoPro mount and any glue used etc. I've previously used a windsurf harness mount pole, however, I like the idea of the hollow tube to provide the buoyancy in case the attachments come loose from the wing. Thanks again.

    • @LarryFoiler
      @LarryFoiler  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks mate! Stoked that you liked it! I’ve used 20mm diameter pipe which has threads on each end also the end caps screw right on. All found in the irrigation section of the hardware store. I used short 1/4 inch bolts, drilled a hole in the end caps and sealed with glue. And I just glued the caps on and then covered with heat shrink to keep it neat 😎😎

    Great instruction video. I feel PVC pipe is better than anything else because it's guaranteed to float. Did you just use the PVC pipe primer and PVC glue or did you use something like epoxy resin to bond the end caps? And what glue did you use to stick the end cap to the aluminum mount besides the 1/4 bolt?

    • @oceanlance

      Not entirely sure if you said two part glue - if so, then that's epoxy, right?

    • @tsoltysiak
      @tsoltysiak Před 2 lety +1

      The bubble protector lenses for the 360 are just to protect the lenses from scratching when your camera is not in use - definitely take them off when filming, they'll distort your image and they fill with water if you take them out on the water.

    Thanks for the tips, epic!!! Hey what type of GoPro mount do you use with the correct thread to attach to the pipe? Could you provide a link maybe?

    • @LarryFoiler
      @LarryFoiler  Před 3 lety

      Just about any GoPro mount will do as long as it had a 1/4 thread in the bottom of it. You need to drill a 1/4 hole thru the plastic end cap and screw and glue the end cap to the gopro mount. Then the end cap screw onto the pipe, with more glue to seal it. Just make sure you use aluminium GoPro mounts because I’ve lost gopros due to plastic mounts breaking. I use these mounts because they are slimline and are “hidden” from the 360 cam

    • @LarryFoiler
      @LarryFoiler  Před 3 lety

      Hi mate! The colour won’t matter, but the black pipe that we have is stronger and more flexible. Our white PVC pipe is hard and brittle and could break easily. If you were really tricky I suppose you could use carbon tube and seal the ends for an even better solution 🤙
