When I was 10 or 12 years old my neighbor built a rig much as you did to plant soybean skips. He took two old iron seats off some mule drawn plows and fastened them to a length of 2 x 6 board. Then he jammed them into the cultivator frame (2 row Pittsburg) and while he drove the tractor and cultivated me and another man dropped seed through a black piece of water pipe with a funnel at the top. It was fastened to the cultivator foot aimed at the drill area. The sweep covered them as they fell. We couldn't see so he would hollar "skip" and we would throw a handful of seed in the funnel and they trickled down the pipe into the row. That was a long time ago( I am 64 now) but it worked and he had a full stand or beans...

I think your spacing may be a little tight for vining field pumpkins, 4ft X 3ft is only 12 square feet per plant; 6 ft rows may be better. Well, you'll see how it goes, hope you have some bees around for pollination. Maybe try some pre-emergent herbicide right after seeding if rain is in the forecast.
    Good luck with everything.

I converted a old tobacco transplanter to plant pumpkins. I put a small funnel at the top of the pvc pipe. Made it easier for my wife to drop them as we go. Just a suggestion, great set up you have 👍

How did this work for you? Wondering what was in the field originally when you killed it off? I Have a hay field with no cover crop and would like to try no till pumpkins. Worried about weed control, etc.. really like your videos!

Why did you take the seed boxes off ??
I planted all mine for years with the seed boxes ! All you have to do is cut your meters off, I cut every 3rd tab off . It worked great .

Next time put a funnel on top of the pipes. Makes it easier to drop the seed in the pipes.
