    I’ve been using this drill for three weeks now. I started with a 7i swinging slowly and picked up the speed until I could get the feel of a good swing. Gradually I added other clubs, again starting slowly and increasing speed while getting the feel of a “good” swing. I must say excellent drill. You don’t need a trackman. Just know where the cane is and what the ball flight is relative to the target and you know what to adjust. This drill is now a permanent part of my warm up session. Thanks Danny!

    Danny - I am a low to mid 80s golfer with the occasional sub 80 round (after breaking my shoulder about a year ago!). I had my worst round in years about two weeks ago when I shot a 98. I was all over the board, felt out of sync, and was flipping my hands through (full swing PW going 60 yards - can't believe I am admitting that). I played 9 a few days later to re-group and ended up +12. I was discouraged, but I found this video and worked this drill for a good bit at the range. I went out to play another 9 to see how I felt and I made 8 pars and 1 birdie for a -1. My PW is back to 155. This drill literally saved my game. I will begin all my range sessions with this drill now. Thank you!

    Danny, I struck it so well after watching and working in this a little. I work on my swing a whole lot and usually get off when I start focusing on all kinds of body movements. I forget that no matter what you do correctly if the club face isn’t square and the shaft isn’t leaning forward the golf shot will not be good. Thank you!!!!

    Thanks Danny; some useable drills around "key concepts". Trackman is such a useful addition; but for those of us with no access to it, the proof is really in the quality of ball-strike and the flight of our shots. The use of the alignment aid gives meaningful feedback on the move-away; and is not to be bettered when learning how to turn through and past the club-delivery zone. It makes me appreciate how supple AND athletic the better ball-strikers are. All the same, what you are showing here is achievable by most people with a modicum of aptitude and ability. 🙏

    Thanks again Danny. I have been struggling pulling my irons swinging too much over the top and over rotating my hips rather than swinging more toward the target. Practicing this drill and your drill of rotating your club on the backswing and forward swing by moving your left leg back on the backswing and moving your right leg forward when swinging forward have helped me to straighten my irons. Stay safe and healthy.

    Hands down a perfect lesson, no flaws. This is 10 minutes of medicine, also a simple picture you can pocket anytime anywhere especially when you need it on the course. Unlike most channels who provide talk show instead of practical golf lesson. I'm index 7 at this moment (peaked at 4, like 5-6 years ago, i quit golf for 4 years then started over again with very different play style and game plan, nearly 2 years ago). Sometimes could even get over 12 in a bad bad day. Definitely gonna pocket this one for my next round, i know it'll work me wonders. I tend to kinda forgot myself for a few stroke after a bad shot added with nasty shit talk (i consider myself and my buddies are big bad trash talkers lol). Thanks, Danny. Godbless!

    @Willie-t5409 Před 4 lety

    I keep saying it each week - "great video". I was just talking with my wife about her students and how to get them to learn. A simple process - make it fun, but also challenging by setting the goal to where it is achievable with proper application(s). Your work with the alignment rod and seeing it correlate immediately with the Trackman reinforces that application! For those of us who don't have a Trackman, I suggest do as I and get some wiffle/foam balls to hit and you do almost as well. I love this type of practice in my backyard. I have several targets (up to 55yds) that I can dial in on. The focus is repeatability across the board. THIS DRILL IS THE BOMB for learning this as it teaches the real key - MUSCLE MEMORY! Muscle memory is the reason the pros, the plus handicappers, the scratch and single digits play so well - it is automatic each time. Yes, bad shots happen but even then they already know what changed immediately after contact. This past week I had to chance to play 2.5 rounds - the half round was with my wife and we had a blast, why? Repeatability - I was focusing on it and was coaching her on it as well. When we are being deliberate in the swing process, i.e. focusing on repeatability instead of rocket balling, we will find more fairways, better "average" distances that tells us which club to use and of course more opportunities for a good score per hole.

    Another great drill! I especially like your emphasis on developing the proper feel for the swing rather than achieving proper “positions” in the swing. This drill is perfect to do at home in the backyard with some foam golf balls! One comment/question, though, it seems to me that I start to hit “fat” shots when I get lazy with my footwork and weight shift. I haven’t played much lately,but I did play 2 days ago and had a good front 9, but late in the round on the back 9, I started to hit my irons a bit fat and I realized that my footwork was sloppy. A few quick practice swings concentrating on your “heel-toe” drill got me back on track., but this drill will help me work on hitting my irons crisply and accurately. Still a work in progress, but the trend-line is positive! Many thanks!

    Great drill, Danny. The new studio is awesome. After my online video lesson with you yesterday, I had a very brief warm up at the course. I then went bogie, bogie, par, eagle, birdie and par before the lightening alarm forced us off the course. I’d say your analysis of my swing faults was spot on. It is no surprise that my playing partners keep saying ‘Thank you Danny’ after I hit a good shot. Thank you. I’m looking forward to my round this morning.

    Thanks Danny. I practiced your beginner driver drill and I hit some great strong shots ... after 5 months. Still just practicing but it was great. This will be my next self coaching practice drill. I have never been a good iron hitter. Good pivot swing again ⛳️ early Sunday practice before any golfers arrive

    try this at home, I feel I was able to strike the ball, rotate my body better. The stick definitely gives me feedback, especially when it hits my lead side ha. Can't wait to try it at the range, hopefully it will change the way I strike the ball in the course, too. Thanks Danny!

    I like this drill and I can take it to the golf course for a pre-game warm up. Great that the video included drivers as well as irons. Will report back later as to its success but it looks good. Nice to see advice centred on accuracy rather than distance. I am beginning to think I should stop hitting it as far as I can, but as accurate as I can. I will work on that. Give up some yards but stay on the fairway.

I just went to the soccer field by my house where I practice a lot immediately incorporated this in to my swing and hit shot after shot the most solid shots of my life. Your a genious, some times a little left but id rather be a lil left then right if ya know what I mean! Thankyou from British Columbia Canada. Oh yeah in the dark also cuzz its 2AM here,LOL!

    This is a great drill. You're so right about knowing how something feels. A coach can tell you things all day, but if you don't have the feel for the shot it won't work. Can't wait to try this out.

    Danny, what iron are you using in this drill. I absolutely want to try this and see if I am close to what you are showing. I think this drill will be great for my golf buddy.... When he hits his irons, it sounds like he's getting great contact, but, his ball goes dead straight to the right, say.... at 2 o'Clock. I can't tell if it's his grip, the club face is open, or what... It's not a slice, it just goes to the right... 2 o'Clock. I really appreciate all of your videos, your information and the way you relate to us hackers out there trying to get better.
