This thing is though that he doesn’t telegraph his kicks whatsoever. You can’t check what you never see coming, and you can’t just fight with your shin turned out for kicks the whole fight
The reason he's able to do that is because he is a world champion kick boxer and his kicks are not telegraphed at all... Nobody knows they are coming when he throws them.. or they would check them.. he's too fast. That's how he can get away with it
He doesn’t need to worry about that for two reasons : - it’s very sneaky,no telegraph from him Very difficult to check something you can’t see. -mental pressure from his punch, his opponent’s attention must also focus on avoiding that left hook.
WRONG. He squares his hips throws his kick and mid kick turns his lead foot while already having his rear leg in motion (backwards setup technically) Instead of traditionally stepping to the side to open his hips to whip a leg kick That’s why nobody sees it because there’s no tell or setup
Alex is Brasilian, they all play soccer there. His calf kicks are classic football/soccer pass kicks. If you look closer the main impact on Alex' foot is in his heel and ankle with the front of his foot going around the leg
Oh also how would u feel about uploading just u working out on bags and on circle training and whatever Id love to see that and you wouldn’t have to cut it but u could generate views that way fairly easy Not many do it or sell it but doing that on yt would be like an investment and you could still sell courses and such and dont have to show or explain much while working out or leak anything that would be in a course Idk give it a thought maybe try it out unless ure too busy or have other ideas
As square as he is, he's coming at their leg almost like a hook so if they do turn the leg to check he is still targeting the outside of the calf on their lead leg, not the shin. Its almost less risky than shin to shin where the kicker bares the brunt if it is checked.
i've been throwing calf kicks and shin checks like this since my early childhood. Too bad my family never allowed me to actually train as a kid. i'd have beaten CM punk
Alex is on a different level of technical understanding. He's been at legendary status around the world for years and years and years. He knows exactly what he's doing
The indigenous Brazilians climb trees, much like other indigenous tribes who reside within rainforests, via the inside of their feet. Much like Thai kickboxers train their shins on trees, over the years of climbing trees the inside of the foot is hard as fuck!
You have to respect Alex, came into the UFC at 34 years old (typical age of decline for many fighters), and in less than 3 years has won belts in 2 divisions, and might end up challenging for a 3rd. Izzys shit talking brought us a true legend.
That’s what makes Alex’s calf kicks great tho it’s the fact he’s able to do it sneakily an the opponent barely checks it throughout the fight it’s incredible
Alex limbs are fucking STONE bro, most UFC fighters nowadays don't even do shin conditioning which is why low kicks like this have taken off so much in recent years, even checking kicks hurts these guys
Oh here we go. The clearly strict bjj guy who jumped straight into teaching striking with no prior experience. Let’s see what he says this time about a technically uncommon leg kick. 🤦♂️
Kicking with the foot instead of the shin is something a lot of traditional martial artists do. When I trained with a few grand masters they all said its doable but you need insane accuracy because landing with the foot can generate more power with less effort
He’s landing with the inside ankle without twisting his hips. Launching from the inner thigh almost like crossing his legs. You dont have to land hard for it to hurt, it’s a point on a bone, it’ll hurt if he lands right where muscle and bones meet. If they block, not much power was thrown to begin with Really smart as hell if you think about it
The reason he lands it with his foot is because he picks his moments and is very slick with it. He doesn't just throw a leg kick to throw it, he sets it up and times it so that it's very hard to check
Pretty sure Alex doesn’t have any nerves in his feet after how long this guys been kicking for lol

@@DarkLeoPlaysSo? No one knows who tf he is lmao and everyone knows who Pereira is. So use your last 2 braincells to figure out who’s doing it right and who isn’t
I still struggle to imagine how Alex stands with such huge balls
😂 what!?
When you have knockout power in both hands people dont see the kicks coming
Yes
Yep
Whatever he's doing seems to be working well for him. No one ever sees it coming.
We have american wimpy feet. He's got favela feet. He can probably crush glass.
Football*
The noise when your foot lands 😂 Alex' timing is so crazy and he doesnt telegraph one bit, so its hard to check that, but I would like to see someone check it 😂
Yeah
It’s not even a soccer shot its more of a soccer pass
(Bc I like kicking upwards onto the leg which is more similar to a soccer shot {I also do other kicks to the leg but that one is nice to get a reaction with})
So basically he’s literally passing the ball and the ball being ur leg
I dont practice it bc Im more comfortable the ways I do leg kicks and thats why I practice those (like going up and down to chop is a technique I also find very nice or doing the chambering rlly clean is also nicr or in a rectangle movement or sometimes I just throw it without much movement or force to test waters and such so I practice those kind of leg kicks)
I think it’s also nice to work the knees if u dont throw it like pereira
Obv I dont know everything and it seems to work well so yea
Hard to check when there is zero telegraph.
High risk high reward
He uses the very end of his shin and instead of turning like the traditional claf kick (I love how that’s a term now) he hits with the side of his leg with the bone while keeping his leg mostly straight
He’s definitely still using his shin just at a more upward 45 degree angle, instead of chopping down
I’m sure the two division champ is thanking you for your valuable insight
Hes hotting with the bony part of the ankle. Thats why it hurts the opponent so much
The kick is there whenever he wants it. because they're worried about that atomic left hook
Um... I think it hurts way less compared to shin to shin. Did you see what happened to Anderson Silva when his calf kick got checked? It snapped his shin. Your foot is way safer 😅
ERASE THIS VIDEO! ALEX PERERIA HIMSELF SHOWS HOW HE KICKS IN HIS INSTRUCTIONAL CALLED "TOTAL STRIKING CONTROL" you going to argue with alex himself? he wraps top foot and toes around back of knee to hit a certain nerve HE SAYS AND SHOWS HOW TO KICK IN THE INSTRUCTIONAL!!!
He either connects with his heel shin or big toe knuckle.
Pretty sure it's the ball of his ankle that he's technically striking with.
This thing is though that he doesn’t telegraph his kicks whatsoever. You can’t check what you never see coming, and you can’t just fight with your shin turned out for kicks the whole fight
It's a kick used in Southern Kungfu styles. Alex is a very open minded martial artist and his coaches are too.
It’s a modified Dutch low kick so I’m not sure that’s entirely accurate
The reason he's able to do that is because he is a world champion kick boxer and his kicks are not telegraphed at all... Nobody knows they are coming when he throws them.. or they would check them.. he's too fast. That's how he can get away with it
He has enough power that he can sacrifice a bit for more speed and less telegraph
I think he gets away with it bc he hides his kicks so well
He doesn’t need to worry about that for two reasons :
- it’s very sneaky,no telegraph from him Very difficult to check something you can’t see.
-mental pressure from his punch, his opponent’s attention must also focus on avoiding that left hook.
It’s all about hiding the telepgraph of the hip.
WRONG. He squares his hips throws his kick and mid kick turns his lead foot while already having his rear leg in motion
(backwards setup technically)
Instead of traditionally stepping to the side to open his hips to whip a leg kick
That’s why nobody sees it because there’s no tell or setup
I think that's from judo there are sweeps like that
is it potentially the ankle bone?
Alex is Brasilian, they all play soccer there. His calf kicks are classic football/soccer pass kicks. If you look closer the main impact on Alex' foot is in his heel and ankle with the front of his foot going around the leg
This guy telling you the faults in ALEX PERRIERA’s leg kick… LMFAO 🤡
I just think it’s crazy. Nobody is faulting anyone.
Oh also how would u feel about uploading just u working out on bags and on circle training and whatever
Id love to see that and you wouldn’t have to cut it but u could generate views that way fairly easy
Not many do it or sell it but doing that on yt would be like an investment and you could still sell courses and such and dont have to show or explain much while working out or leak anything that would be in a course
Idk give it a thought maybe try it out unless ure too busy or have other ideas
Also I can work out at home like at the same time
War Poatan 👊🏿
Izzy was doing ok at checking early in their first fight, but alex low kicks are just too fast
As square as he is, he's coming at their leg almost like a hook so if they do turn the leg to check he is still targeting the outside of the calf on their lead leg, not the shin. Its almost less risky than shin to shin where the kicker bares the brunt if it is checked.
Alex who? Lol
He's Brazilian no wonder he kicks like he is kicking a ball
i've been throwing calf kicks and shin checks like this since my early childhood. Too bad my family never allowed me to actually train as a kid. i'd have beaten CM punk
What about lore Heel work to the effect maybe
I do that in sparring now tbh lmao 😂😅...I leant from him
Bro he is a professional kick boxer, he knows what he is doing.
Alex is on a different level of technical understanding. He's been at legendary status around the world for years and years and years. He knows exactly what he's doing
Reckon only Alex can get away with this. He's built different
Its a very light calf kick, he uses it for range finding more than anything else
czcams.com/video/DXJOqQfr42w/video.htmlsi=cHzapDuS2pO2C9Np
It's to unbalance the opponent. Poatan has got a dozen different ways of doing it, and he uses them to maximize the potential of that hook.
Inside of the shin not fit
The indigenous Brazilians climb trees, much like other indigenous tribes who reside within rainforests, via the inside of their feet. Much like Thai kickboxers train their shins on trees, over the years of climbing trees the inside of the foot is hard as fuck!
With a record of 13 losses? Nah… you’re not Alex Pereira.
You have to respect Alex, came into the UFC at 34 years old (typical age of decline for many fighters), and in less than 3 years has won belts in 2 divisions, and might end up challenging for a 3rd. Izzys shit talking brought us a true legend.
I did a bit of kickboxing for about 2 years at a local gym. In my expert opinion this guy has NAILED it.
I'm pretty sure you are not comprehending what you are seeing very well lmao
That’s what makes Alex’s calf kicks great tho it’s the fact he’s able to do it sneakily an the opponent barely checks it throughout the fight it’s incredible
Alex limbs are fucking STONE bro, most UFC fighters nowadays don't even do shin conditioning which is why low kicks like this have taken off so much in recent years, even checking kicks hurts these guys
Oh here we go. The clearly strict bjj guy who jumped straight into teaching striking with no prior experience. Let’s see what he says this time about a technically uncommon leg kick. 🤦♂️
Got like 40 pro mma fights there bud
The stress it would put on my inner knee would earn me a doctor stoppage
When I saw Jan not liking Alex's calf kicks it just solidified how powerful those kicks are.
You're getting it wrong. But, whatever.
Alex is a kickboxer, he knows what he’s doing.
If they block, not much power was thrown to begin with
Really smart as hell if you think about it
The reason he lands it with his foot is because he picks his moments and is very slick with it.
He doesn't just throw a leg kick to throw it, he sets it up and times it so that it's very hard to check
We did that in USA Goju Karate all the time, it was expected for pretty much every combo
