    Had my M8D for a few days now. One of the fans feels like it's rubbing on something when it powers up. Thanks for the mention of the SD card. I deleted a few of sounds as I like the high alert volume but don't want notifications for battery connected, disconnected or fast charge complete. 10 profiles is a bit limiting and I wish they'd have a Quantity slider to support easier parallel charging. Overall it's nice for $110.

    End current percentage would be a nice feature! They tend to lock it at 10%, which can take too long to achieve. The HOTA D6 and iCharger have this.

    Hay there is no room in FPV for two blue mats. I take this blatant shot across the bow as a message, it’s time for Duel. Mats a dawn, I’m coming and will be ready Nick. We will sort this once and for all.

    Where to start? But not where one would think. Ummm, nice T-Shirt ;-) ! Wardrobe aside, Currently rocking the HOTAS D6, because you, JB and a few others recomended it, and I've never regreted it (Other than not getting two!). Now that I'm a few years in a second charger would be a great idea. Heard a lot about this brand and just saw an ad for this one. I think I might know what my next charger might be. Also, Fun fact: Geek was originally a 1920's term used to describe Circus sideshow freaks. That being said, I'm sooooooo a Geek (Nerd also works if said loke Ogre, you know...). Thanks for the review and also wearing the badge of Geek Proudly!

    Nice review but I could care less about an onscreen display. Having an app to manage multiple chargers doing different charge cycles/balancing/discharging all at the same time is the only way to fly. The one I'm using even lets you generate upc's that you can tape to your pack that when you scan with the app will automatically kick off a preprogrammed charge/discharge event you've created for that specific pack which makes charging up or returning back to storage voltage at the end of the day and for those who want to count cycles a breeze.
    Not to mention being able to charge five packs at the same time in my garage while being able to monitor the cycle from in my house including pack temps which fortunately I have yet to need but will power off that single charger during a thermal event. I am using the same toolkit rc power supplies though but I do not know why other manufactures have not switched over to using modern technology yet and still make customer stare at an attached screen when everyone has a cell phone these days and bluetooth is cheap...

    I will say that this charger looks great. Would like AC/DC though.
    Over on Mad's tech he really kind of tore down ToolkirRC on a quality basis. I have an older ToolkitRC quad charger that has worked for a year now but i do not frequently use it. What has been your experience?
    I really like some of their designs but due to recent quality concerns I decided to purchase a SkyRC B6 Nex which has a GaN power supply that helps make it small. I was going to get the ToolKitRC M7AC as that is a very comparable charger to the SkyRC one - so far I am super happy with how it works.

    Tell me, does the internal resistance of the batteries show correctly or is this function not accurate? :) I need to test the wear level of batteries at my work. I can, of course, do this with a special device, but it’s more convenient right away while charging. Thank you.

    It's not geeky. It's how things should be. I've been writing about this for ages - a touchscreen in a charger is a modern touch and a must when you have tons ofdifferent LiPos. I have the HTRC T400 Pros and they are nice even though having a resistive touch screen. I'm glad that ToolkitRC is listening to customers. Also I'm happy that 8S is getting more popular and will eventually replace 6S. Please do more 8S content. Thank you!

  • @istim
    @istim Před 2 měsíci +1

    Does it apologise when it takes out one of the cells in your lipo or when it sets your house on fire? (Sorry bad ToolkitRC joke)

    • @NickBurnsFPV
      @NickBurnsFPV  Před 2 měsíci +1

      hmm. I really haven't had issues with toolkitrc or really any charger I have used. Currently I have three toolkitrc, one Hota, one HTRC, one ISDT and one more I can't remember the brand.

      @@NickBurnsFPV yeah I think it’s just a bit of a meme in the community, it seems one too many people have had issues with them having poorly calibrated cell voltage readings which can lead to things getting significantly out of safe range. But it seems to be luck of the draw on the poorly performing units

    • @NickBurnsFPV
      @NickBurnsFPV  Před 2 měsíci

      @@istim yea, when someone has a bad experience and they are on social media they will post over and over magnifying the "indication" of their experience. I have had people copy and paste the same negative comment on 5+ videos...even videos that don't have the product they are leaving the comment about.

    Hey Nick! Great review as always! How is the calibration of different ADC channels on this one from the factory? I have a few toolkitRC M7AC and M4AC chargers and some of them were miscalibrated (from the box) by as much as 0.2V PER CELL when I checked it with my multimeter which has 0.001V accuracy. One M7AC reaches it's calibration limit for one of the cell's ADCs at 0.05V less than needed so I had to undercalibrate all the ADC channels for all the cells and now I charge my batteries to 4.25V (that's what charger thinks) instead of 4.20V. Not the best QC so far.
    One little M4AC wasn't working at all. When attempting to calibrate the balance plug input to match the XT60 input, the calibration limit is reached. Consequently, there's no way to initiate charging, as the main input voltage doesn't closely match the sum of the cells' voltages. I returned it to the shop, they confirmed it happens to these chargers.
    I also have a HOTA P6 which is calibrated precisely but it's really a PITY to use it because if it's extremely slow CPU which is really slow in reacting to your inputs. Each time menu redraws it takes like 200 milliseconds. Also it lacks task presets as opposed to ToolkitRC and it's always a lot of work to do when charging different batteries one after another. Sigh.
    So yeah I really like overall user experience of Toolkit chargers but I'm really concerned about the quality.

    love the idea of a touch screen. my wife bought me a D6 pro, which I love, but its a PITA to choose a channel to manipulate even if there is only one active at the time. its been 6 months and I still forget to pick ch1/ch2 before I start messing with it.
