60fps mode looked like 720p in the demo when I played it. Its very blurry. I'll be interested to see digital foundry do a full breakdown. Edit: The devs are updating the demo on Wednesday 21st to improve the blurry issue.
same, it is definitely below 1080p
@@ajitjagdale6593it’s not, watch the actual video maybe lol
@@acebreaker7 i have seen the video but i’d rather trust my eyes and it looks like a blurry mess on my 42” 4K OLED TV on performance mode, intergrade looked way better
It’s definitely using a rough upscaling. It sure does look fuzzy. And that wouldn’t bother me much, but the ghosting is really distracting in performance mode. We’ll see what it looks like once the final build is out
@@ajitjagdale6593 The first game was exactly like that on base Ps4 at 1080p. The TAA used by unreal engine 4 is just very ugly at 1080p
Performance is keeping steady for the most part. Not bad! Hopefully it holds up when we see the rest of the game.
why dynamic 1440p looks blurrier than some 1080p locked old PS4 games, like Infamous Second Sun for example?
It can be a variety of reasons. Anti-aliasing method, upscaling technique, base resolution the game is being upscaled from, the dynamic resolution may have a 1440p target yet rarely reaches that number. Just because a game runs at a higher resolution (native or upscaled) it doesn't guarantee better image quality. Gran Turismo 7 displays at native 4k, yet in many instances, the game has terrible jaggies/aliasing.
Infamous: Second Son, on base PS4, is running at native 1080p and has decent anti-aliasing. Performance mode in this demo might be upscaled from 540-900p. If it's as low as 540-720p, there will be visual artifacts. The blurry image might be a combination of all 3: anti-aliasing technique, lower base resolution, and adequacy of the upscaler?
@@dangiambrone7350 he saying that perfomance mode never drops below 1080p thus my question. i guess maybe its just bad implementation/technic of dynamic resolution here
anyway, im really sad that generation older games looks better sometimes, even on basic console...
It doesn't look half as bad in action like the video shows
UE4 has crap AA and if they are using FSR that is not that great either
Basically worse AA and upscaling. Newer AAs and upscaling techniques are made to blur the game to hide Jaggies and artifacts.
Thanks man!
I will stick with performance mode because it seems to hold a sold 60fps for the most part and only dips as low 55fps at times.
But I do hope the resolution looks a bit less blurry on launch for performance mode.
Performance mode looks terrible.
Yeah performance mode is more stable than i thought. Only in cutscenes can there be bigger dips but who cares that's not gameplay

@@raffimohd6387 PS5 player here. he's right
Crazy when FF7 Remake on PS4 Pro looks better then the Performance mode on PS5's Rebirth.
I know this generation didn't have such a big graphical leap from the last generation, but I really love how 90% of this generation's games (at least on the Series X and PS5) offer a performance mode.
I always preferred performance over resolution or graphics, it always bothered me that in the PS4/XONE generation or even worse in the PS3/X360 generation, several games were beautiful but struggled a lot to maintain performance, I remember that some games could barely run at 20fps, I really like that the PS5/Series X generation decided to follow another path focusing on fluid gameplay and faster loading times rather than graphics or resolution.
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, SpiderMan 2, Hi-Fi Rush, Alan Wake 2 and now with Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth are good examples of games in this generation that remain visually very beautiful and still run at 60fps and take advantage of the SSD to do things that were not possible on previous consoles. (ironically, Fortnite is also a great example of good use of new console hardware)
Sticking with performance mode as usual but man does it look fuzzy.

Performance res can drop significantly in populated areas. When i started the mountain trail i realized the resolution got way more crisp
I have to ask is this the most recent build because it does dip and look blurry from time to time in Performance mode.
It's the same demo as Paris Games Week and Tokyo Games Show, so I believe it's several months old.

I've played the demo, and it was great. But performance mode seems a bit blurry. I have a 65" inch LG C9 OLED TV, and the blurriness is very noticeable. Hopefully, the resolution will be improved during the full game.
It won't. The hardware is at it's limit. Look at FF16's performance mode.
@@younganimal360 and no 40fps vrr mode until now, what a shame.

@@younganimal360 not at all…
FYI: The director Hamaguchi promised a patch that will fix the issues on the performance modes that will arrive on February 21. The patch will be not only for the demo but also the final version.
I ended up going with resolution mode but man the shadows and the vegetation pop in and some really low res textures in the ground and moutains made just wait for a breakdown of the full game
Performance looks 1080p at best. Remake looks better in that mode. Playing it right now.
is a open world, ignorant
Remake is a significantly smaller game
Looks actually well below 1080p for me, incredibly blurry.
Crazy when FF7 Remake on PS4 Pro looks better then the Performance mode on PS5's Rebirth.
1:29 don't you dare have a staring contest against him
Resolution mode looks clearer than Performance mode.
But when you see the game running at 60fps, that issue feels trivial.
Not for me. My eyes can't stand anything below 1440p these days. I can deal with 30fps if the image is sharp enough. Everyone has a preference though.
Nah it ain't trivial it looks way too low resolution
For some reason hud elements arent rendered in 4k. Maybe to reduce file size?
OKAY, so I am not crazy right? Even in Graphics Mode, the Hud seemed lower resolution. I went back to Intergrade and it was like night and day.
I just read an article where they proudly explained that they managed to get the game on 2 rather than 3 discs.
In this case they probably should've gone with 3😅
i hope they will give us the VRR mode.
You can always try it at system level 👍

What is temporal reconstruction? Is it better than FSR2?
Performance looks very blurry unfortunately. Might be FSR again
fsr2 is another method of temporal reconstruction (upscaling from a lower res) as far as i know.
It may even be fsr1 just like ff16
Looks like Fsr 1 to me🥲
Nope.
That's really fast! Nice work!
There should be an option in settings to take away the motion blur. There was in ff16.
Ff16 also only got the option to change motion blur weeks after release, so it'll probably be the same here😅
The only time i see bluriness in these vids is when people zoom in. Otherwise the differences are minor to me personally. I'll be playing on performance, because something I have noticed is the slowness/stutter/lag (whatever you wanna call it) of graphics mode when running around. Now THAT drives me crazy.
The only game I'm waiting for that I like to see the frame rate
And I hope the problems will be solved with the new updates🔥🔥
*FF16 Flashback intensifies*
Hopefully a 120hz 40fps mode? Or vrr mode

The videos don't come out as much as they used to. But they're still just as good as always when they do. (I'm wondering if you had a kid (or two)???)
Why does the graphics sometimes feel like a downgrade. Lots of low quality textures and dodgy lighting. I feel like remake felt more polished
Because it was, this feeling rushed unfortunately
2:18 wtf is happening with the shadows ?
Most games do that but it's somewhat more subtle, Remake also had a small drawing radius
they're rendered at 50cm to maintain performance, hoping in a patch to improve this
cascaded shadow maps .. this game uses the UE engine in the simplest possible way. It is not the fault of the HW. It's a really lazy job of SE.
Besides some ps3 era games I don't remember seeing a modern game have that bad shadow draw distance @@Ventreel
Super-low LOD distance for shadows and also low-quality anisotropic filtering? Don't get, why the lighting isn't just baked here as all conditions are static.
Regardless of mode, Cloud’s face lighting is cursed.
Same flaw as remake. So sad, can't even get it right.
Waiting for the "real" version, PC. Miss me with that 1440p 60fps.
Apparently, the digital foundry dude, John Letterman I think, says it’s running at 1440p in performance mode on Twitter. However, there’s some heavy processing at 1/4 of that resolution making the image appear blurrier than it should.
Hopefully it gets fixed at launch, or maybe it already has and this is an old build.
1/4th of 1440p is 720p so yeah that seems right because it looks like i’m playing at 720p
So in the cutscenes, does it do the same as FFXVI? In 16 no matter what mode chosen, the cutscene's are always quality mode. Which is what I'd prefer actually.
Then you won’t like this but rebirth focuses on 60fps at all times also in cutscenes.
FF16 graphics seem better?
The VRR in forced mode, saves in performance option… 😉
Update still looks blurry af. Please do a comparison.
When are developers going to get with the program and start giving a 40fps mode in these games?
I agree, it should be the standard now...
For real, 30FPS shouldn't be a standard anymore. It's 2024!
5:03 Perfect example to always choose Resolution 👀
After reading that the performance mode looks so blurry, I'm gonna play it on resolution mode eventhough only 30fps, I want to enjoy the beautiful visual of the game.
same man, I don't like how blurry it looks on performance mode, I always go with performance mode
@@kyothiq yeah I usually prioritize performance, but now what's the point playing smoothly if the visual looks like crap🤣. Even the performance not solid 60fps it still drops.
I hope the released version will fix these issues.
Ya but graphics mode chugs,I tried that 2.moving ur camera is horriblw
@@holy9781 damn, I hope they fix the issues, we got dissappointing performance issues with ff16 last year, I don't want this to be a mess as well.
They said they were gonna fix the performance mode blur, don't think any of the other issues with be fixed like the weird lighting on faces or that laughable shadow draw distance
Remake also had weird lighting on faces if you position Cloud in the right spot in the right place and the camera on an awkward enough spot up close… that seems bottom of barrel complaining tbf. There were other visual issues on Remake too … @no one in particular: just play and enjoy the game.
Finally had time to give the demo a go. Beyond the terrible resolution and whatever up scaling they are using making it so blurry, their were more technical issues than I can count. Textures not popping in, low quality assets, some models look completely unfinished, poor lighting and lighting anomalies, and really bad shadow LOD and texture pop in at close proximity. I walked up to vegetation that took seconds to fully load in once standing right next to them.
If this is indicative of the whole game to come at release, which is likely, then I'm waiting for a great deal of patches before picking this one up. So many aspects of this are visually a step down from the previous one, even the UI.
Pretty crazy. This needed more time in the oven, because this is just unpolished and the areas in the demo feel unfinished. It's not breaking any new ground or pushing to the limits of what other games have done. Games with much greater detail scope and subsequent performance even on ps4 to be honest. This being the next installment and looking worse is odd, but it also being a native ps5 title progressing from what was in all reality a Ps4 game is pretty bizarre and shocking to see it so rough.
The gameplay seems like more of the same and all but man, technically this is shaping up to be a mess at launch. What the heck happened here? Why would they show this and why aren't the game journos talking about this?
Crazy when FF7 Remake on PS4 Pro looks better then the Performance mode on PS5's Rebirth.
Completamente de acuerdo 👏🏻👏🏻
that shadow lod even on quality, though...
I'll wait for the PC release to play this game at its best.

Ill be waiting till the end if the year to play this at its best on ps5 pro
I hope the blurriness is just a thing in the demo as it being a prebuilt version.
Usually it never changes from the demo build
This game shows that we need a ps5 pro as soon as possible or the developers need to explore the full power of ps5 and make a good optimization.
Probably the latter.
This game needs a 40fps mode
The demo looks fantastic in either mode. It's not as crisp in performance, and there are noticeable low res textures, but the overall graphic fidelity and detail while running at 60fps is impressive. A def step up imo from ff16, but that could be personal bias. More importantly the demo is fantastic. Highly recommend every ps5 owner play this
Square Enix must be punching air now regretting ever signing those PS5 exclusive deals.
Graphics Mode doesn't look quite right either on my OLED, the entire image seems "soft" and even the text/UI and map look lower resolution.
ill deal with the blurry 60fps anyway. i get bad motion sickness for some reason when i play in 30fps

@younganimal360 It's most likely trying to target 1080p but it really cant.
Ye, waiting for PC is for sure the move, combat in 30FPS is gonna be unplayable, but performance mode looks balls.
