THREE DAYS ON THE DEVILS ROAD (Part 1) | El Camino Del Diablo

    In this week's video we are meeting up with our friends Matt and Cara from Ozark Overland Adventures and beginning a three day journey across the El Camino del Diablo Trail…… a historic 250-mile or 400 km trail that passes through some of the most remote and inhospitable terrain of the Sonoran Desert
    The El Camino del, Diablo, translating to "The Devil's Highway," has a storied history as a trade route, dating back to the indigenous peoples and later used by Spanish missionaries and explorers.
    The trail's unforgiving conditions earned it its ominous name, with scorching temperatures, scarce water sources, and isolated stretches of desert landscape.
    Undertaking the journey in a full size overland truck adds an element of adventure to the expedition. The Baja truck's robust design, equipped with advanced 4x4 features gives us the confidence to tackle the demanding obstacles ahead.
    Join us next week as we venture deeper into the remote and rugged Sonoran desert attempting to successfully navigate the El Camino Del Diablo “The Devils Highway”

    Thank you for stopping in Yuma. You would be amazed at the variety of history here; from the Native American sleep circles, petroglyphs, training/acclimating troops in preparation for battle in Africa during WWII, and so much more. I am just so glad that you didn't come in the summer. I was running around doing errands yesterday and it was 115 F. The hottest temp I have seen here (and had to work in the desert in it) was 128 F. But, you can't beat our winters!!! May you all continue to have save travels and adventures with God's blessings and protection!

    Holy cow! Great story-telling! I love your music choices and cinematography; the radios add such an intense “Cops” vibe! (Voiceovers are a bit monotonous…need more emotion…less reading) But I’m a new subscriber and super stoked to keep an eye on your adventures! (I’ve got a 17yr old wanting to do what you’re doing! 😬)

    Oh yes Peter, that sounds familiar. Before I went into combustion technology, I was with Babcock / Hankock / Wilcock. There was a big power station in Arizina, some boilers were broken. No steam, no electricity. (45 years ago).Our deal, all overtime and bonuses were paid. The bonus, if we finish 4 weeks early, the power company pays us 4 weeks vacation in Arizona. Back then we were out and about for a while, had good supplies and got to know the country. Beautiful, just not in summer. And really, the company paid for everything, no matter what. Those were still good times, laugh. Greetings from Frankfurt and stay healthy.

    Carol, I have a go to recipe for you, so Simple! As follows: 1 half of a medium onion, chopped medium, 1 pound of ground beef, 1 small fresh cabbage or half of a large, sliced into strips then diced medium. Flour tortillas, cheese and salsa.
    Sauté the onions to release them, add the ground beef and brown, add the cabbage, stir together well, cover and stir once in a while until the cabbage has shrunk and is cooked. Serve on the tortilla with cheese and salsa. Happy eating! You could probably use shredded cabbage.

    Too cool and great timing! I'm actually headed down there from mid Colorado in the next week. Already have the needed BMGR Permit & resources. Going to traverse east to west from Ajo (visit some friends there). Good hole in the wall Mexican food stop in town square, El Tarasco. I'll east to west it to Yuma, then work my way north to the Am. Adv. Desert Rendezvous up near Quartzsite. Going to run it in my Ram 2500 with a 650 pound pop-up. Your bigger heavier rig looks like it does well.
    hehehe.......and I have had similar grocery catapulting in the past as well. I try to get groceries stowed first, but sometimes you gotta get moving. I use Mountain Smith zip close cube bags for food shopping, and keep the groceries low, forward, and center till I can properly secure them.
    Looking forward to the continued episodes. Travel Safe ! Maybe see Matt at Moore Expo. Hitting Arkansas for the eclipse, then to Moore after.

    Y'all have seen more of AZ than I ever have in my lifetime! And I'm from here! 😊However, I NEVER go south of the Phoenix metropolis area (otherwise known as the Valley of the Sun or just the Valley to we locals). With the open borders there's always migrants coming over and, of course, the cartel activity is NOT something I wanna encounter. Y'all stay safe out there!

  • @carolranes91
    @carolranes91 Před 5 měsíci +1

    I do not understand why you would want to go anywhere near the border with what’s going on down there with drugs, smuggling and child trafficking! Some pretty dangerous people dealing that area! There will be time in the future once this is cleaned up and it will be cleaned up probably within the next year year and a half that you can go back there and do it safely! Please stay safe Also concerned with some of the weather patterns changing out there in Arizona and Nevada with unusual rain patterns that you guys are not familiar with the water flow patterns in those areas and there could be flooding! I saw on the news in California where was holding onto the top of his camper very similar to the ones you guys driveand he also had a tree or hooked on it as it was physically being washed away during one of these flash flood! So please please please pay attention to the weather patterns and learn from the locals what the flooding patterns are before you go off grid

    Just a head's up there is absolutely no G annunciated in the saguaro, I grew up amongst these Cactus in Tucson spent 70 years in Arizona not that it matters, type in how to correctly say Saguaro, they tell you the correct way to pronounce it, you pronounce it as if its spelled sawauro, its actually a boy's name. The way it was being pronounced I wasn't sure at first what you were referring too, it is definitely an often-butchered word, like many of the Indian words and names around here.
