I'm here after watching the Aston Martin vantage series, so I just laughed when you said this was the hardest dash you've tackled đ
Same! đ
Same đ
Same! I was like..."Well, that didn't age well, did it?" :D
Iâve done the same was about to comment that đđ€Ł

Easy to re-colour leather yourself, could be a fun project. Iâve dyed my entire 4 series interior from black to red, cream to black will be much easier
No way how did it come out?
Honestly Iâm really happy with it, it took approx 8 coats applying with a sponge, if I did this in the future Iâd most likely use a spray gun!
Hardest part was taking the seats in the front appart to make sure there was no black spots left over, and being patient!
I second that and think he should just recolour it instead of buying one in black
@@alexalbiston5675 if you had a white-cream interior it would take less coats right?
@@oresthse4668 I can only assume so! I went through several coats where it looked a strange brown colour due to the dark base. Bright red in the end. I assume this wouldnât be an issue in the cream/white
Mat. You are one impressive and talented individual. I watched you take that dashboard out and it was amazing. Well done
Truth!! very impressive how NOTHING stops you! Your skills are top notch. Keep going mate!
Thatâs easy, itâs putting it back lol.
Talented? He's a CZcams have a go hero, 7 bolts left over and god knows how many more short cuts taken. Also shouldnt be trying to repair SRS looms like i gather he is going to do. I bet you don't say that to the guy who's fixing your car after many years of doing the job and ÂŁ1000s of tools.
@@shaun9905 SRS Looms if done correctly should be fine. If the wiring fails at any point in the future an error will show up. Just dont leave the battery connected when doing the repairs. BOOOM!!
@@shaun9905 Yeah exactly, he does it himself for his cars, which is impressive, he didn't do years of the job yet he has still come out with cars that are just really good and different. Don't be upset some people want to do stuff themselves, most garages over charge for a shitty job, experience means nothing if they don't give a fuck about your car, if you're doing your own car theres nothing that will stop you. And he's never claimed any of his cars to be factory standard or reliability, he just does it for fun to mod cars to his liking, dont see the problem, its that or the scrapyard for these cars.
Man you have the most tenacity I have ever seen. You donât let any problem stop you. I never comment on videos really but you really deserve praise. And a subscription.
Mat I got so much respect for you man. Your channel gives me joy.
Love your honesty about how many bolts you missed after replacing the dash, i always say if you aint got at least 1 bolt left over after a job
You aint done it rightđ
I did some work at a Mercedes workshop (evenings, saturdays, holidays) when I was 15 years old. One of the mechanics over there called all the bolds and the nuts he had left over, weight reduction and spare parts. Untill the day that the same Vito arrived on the back of a truck that had left the shop that morning after a engine rebuild. Needed a engine rebuildđ
If you got left over bolts just means you're better than the engineer!
You can easily recolour the steering wheel air bag đ
@Kasban Hawana Cringe
@@Digitaliziation huh?
Hey Mat, i really like what you doing. Taking damaged cars and giving them a 2nd chance. It's so inspiring, it feels like we are part of the build and journey. I wish i had similar project my and am always looking forward to watch them.
I genuinely felt sick after you'd removed that dash... Holy moly đ€ą Seven spare bolts for the next one though đđđ»
Youâve some such a long way Mat! So inspiring thinking about how drastically your vids have improved in just 2 years!
Most entertaining automotive channel on CZcams. Keep it up đ
Thanks mate! I surprise my self sometimes đ
Thank you a lot for making such informative videos re your Range Rover...honestly, difficult to comprehend how you are able to rebuild a damaged car to such high quality if you are not a trained mechanic. Much respect to you.
Having owned a Range Rover and dealt with all the issues they have, I'm in awe of your bravery to deal with a crash damaged one.
Taking that dashboard off had me holding my breath.
Me too
My brain is still hurting
Mad props for getting stuck in and just going through all that hassle. Every time you finish these things and put it all together, without testing it first, I cross all my fingers that it all works đ
No idea why, but I'm absolutely loving the Range Rover build. Your smashing it as usual.
And with my extensive professional knowledge..... (seen it on wheeler dealers) you can get leather dyed. So that airbag will take the black dye no problems at all đ.
Thereâs no arguing with Edd
Yep Edd China,,, legend

I came across your channel today and was hooked on the restorations and rebuilds. Having had my fill of Wheeler Dealer repeats on Quest it's great to see your work, Keep it coming !
Absolutely love the videos Mat, minute by minute the best CZcamsr on here for Car Content. Instructive, inspiring, motivational & just down right fun with great editing skills to match.
Been on here all the way since the Q5, Bentley & glad I found it when I did. Congrats to you, Hannah, Kevin & the rest of the team.
Should upgrade the whole steering wheel
when you take off a tie rod or a track rod end, its good practice to count the spins so that you dont have to tipex it. thats what i do anyways. still will need wheel align but is close enough. great vids aswell mat.. keep it up :)
Only works well when you have identical replacements though. Some parts have shocking tolerences!
Me and dad found your Aston Martin Rebuild videos last week, itâs amazing how modest you are about DIY on cars but yet have such a wealth of knowledge.đ Got 2 new subscribers from us, and now Iâm onto your Range rebuild. Looking forward to the next Aston video đ
If only I had the spare money to do this kind of thing, keep up the great work đȘ
Love your endless energy and enthusiasm! However a 2:11 am finish must have left you knackered. Great job you are doing. Must be hard to source matching OE parts and model/ colour specific especially if itâs the same parts that are usually in demand. Loving the episodes.
I couldnât leave it knowing Iâve left that many bolts out of the dash đ€Ł especially as you said the 10mm ones were the ones that fixed the dash to the bulkhead!
Itâs gonna rattle!! đ€Łđ
It must have been over Engineered. I wonder if it was the ones near the windscreen? He will find out when the annoying squeaks starts in a few months time.
Fare play... if it holds don't mend it ...
Thats a lot of hard graft Matt đđ please dont let it down with the cream airbag đ€ gotta be black đ€
Fantastic video as always.. love the stuff you do.. very inspirational some great cars and great projects.. keep posting I'll keep watching đ
Mat you inspire me so so much I watch all the videos of the Land Rover canât wait for the 3 part and I think I want to be like you when I am older thanks mat đđ
Hi Mat , you can easily recolour the leather steering wheel trim
Definitely change that airbag so it matches the rest of the car. When you mentioned an upgrade I thought maybe you were gonna upgrade the screen to an android one that looks more like the newer ones. It is like ÂŁ1200+ though. You can upgrade it to have Apple car play with the same screen for like ÂŁ500 though.
Seriously thought youâd gone a step too far with this project but delighted to be proved wrong. Been watching since the TT days, itâs amazing how far your hard work has taken you.
You need to do a full build video for this, most underrated build
Love ur videos Matt keep up the hard work!!
This is gonna be a good buildđ„đ„đ„
Accidentally stumbled on the first video, now I'm hooked and invested đ . Great vid
Well done mate - I canât believe how hard you work those long days are insane - truly inspirational đđŒ
No cream one needs to go and also silver trim next to new unit needs to be done black.loving the content as always range looks great
Agree
Maybe my favourite build since the Bentley! Love all the cars but I have a think for luxury cars I canât afford đ
You canât afford the 10k Bentley but you can afford the S3 and M140i đ€Ł
You could get some black leather spray paint and paint the cream airbag.
Your a inspirational person, when you started from the beginning and not knowing much, and to what you produce is 10/10 hat of to you matt. Never let anyone tell you , nothing is beyond your ability, grab it by the balls and embrace the rewards
Mat always taking one for the team, putting his mental health at risk, to bring us quality content đ gotta love it, amazing determination!!
@john dunne it was a joke
If the airbag cover is leather, get some acetone and cotton balls and remove as much colour as you can.
Then, contact Angelus and get yourself a bottle of their leather dye in the colour of your choice. Apply it in multiple light coats with their applicator on the easy to get areas and a selection of paintbrushes for the not so easy to reach areas. About ÂŁ25 all in.
Eg - czcams.com/video/UxUgv9HQJbE/video.html
I'm loving this build!! I can tell this was ones gona be real goood! & I would sy steering airbag needs to go black for sure. Loving the work Matt, Keep it Up!
Loved the video. You worked like a trojan to get the dash done. Will carry on watching all the episodes cos I cant wait to see the car when finished. Carry on the great work. X
Great progress, loving it. Btw where did u buy the upgrade climate control?
Same question!
Ali express I expect ! Lots on there
Do they work on all range rovers - asking for a evoque 2014 guy đ
@@YouKnowTheDance They do ones for discovery so you maybe in with a chance. Personally Iâd save your money for something else
@@AndyK.1 yeah for what they are and what they do Iâll stick to what I have. Can you get the visualisation centre part to play videos/Netflix etc? Mine doesnât even have sat nave đ€Ź
Genuinely thought you were a mechanic! Amazing stuff , always find it incredible how people just turn their hands to things and learn on the job, fair play
Mat I think the Range is the best choice you ever made !!love that project ..keep the nice work !!!
Excellent video sir, thanking you for sharing. Stay safe & take care Mat kudos.
Awesome job Mat!!!!! Thanks for sharing
Live the content Mat. Nice switch up with this Range.
Keep up the banging content mate!!
Your work on this car is amazing, with your skills you can easily transform this car to the MY2018 restyling with bigger screens and LED headlights. It would be the ultimate upgrade.
Canât wait for new videos about the Range!
Your video is such a joy to look at đthe dashboard is looking great đ well done đ
Well impressed - that's a whole lot of work but yeah you never give-up or complain! Well done on taking on a monumental challenge!!!

@Mat Armstrong your channel and your projects that you have done have absolutely amazing keep up the great job. I hope to the same business you are doing. I love the content you share.
Awesome episode. It is great to see the car coming together. The off-white wheel could work because the prices for all black are way too high. Looking forward to the next episode. Keep up the good work.
Awesome video as ever.... and that cruise control hack / update ! Mega one mate!
Awesome video Mat. Problem solving at its best.
your best videos by far can't wait to see the finished product
Must say, Iâm new to watching your videos but a seasoned CZcams viewer, in terms of presenting youâve got it down to a T, and I have to admire your desert Island mentality, nothing beats you.. well done Sir!!
Mat you are so good. There is always something to learn from you.
Your perseverance is next level Matt!
Great vlogg Matt. Really professional editing. I enjoyed watching you take on that mammoth task as I myself am totally handless lol. Well done đ
Great video matt as always, from what I've seen alot of airbag plug burn out after going off.
I don't see the cream steering wheel airbag offensive but I'd probably change it or dye it mate.
Mat i enjoy watching your channel keep up the good work.
Iâm so much looking forward to the final version of this Range Rover. Amazing journey.
Thank Mat,all the way from South Africa, love ur work
Wow...crazy ! You are one heck of a man to do the dashboard đđ. I bet you get to do this dash even in your dreamsđđđ
The dashboard would definitely break me! Great job! My vote is on dying the airbag! I'm sure you can perfectly colour match it! It'll be a cracking motor when finished
Great video... 7 bolts left!!!!.. Lol.. Wait for the rattles!!!... Air con display looks awesome.... Massive job, respect m8... I like the cream centre!!.... Look forward to the next episode
