This is hilarious. My parents still don't write their names in red -- to this day!!!
Well some superstitions are too deep into the culture. Like in Russia you just can't give somebody an even amount of flowers, like only odd amount: 1, 3, 5. Even number of flowers is being given only on funerals.
Well..that is very common sense not to write someone's name in red in Korea. It is more like etiquette in Korea. 🤔
Me too!
What about stamps? I’ve seen stamps in red
I died when he said superstatious😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
He said it with soo much confidence 😂😂😂
In my country, we don't use red pen for signing or on any documents. We generally use black pen. If you use red pen, or any color, it's not legal.
This is super true in many countries. Some are allowing the use of blue pen because with blue, you can easier tell if it's a copy or an original copy.
@@maddiemcnugget1076 True.
What is your country?
What a perfect way to change a pen! APPA has a great skill!
I laughed - they're so clever and quick-thinking.
All thanks to sneak attack skill from Umma
Appa & Umma deserve a new show!!!!
With all the nonsense in the world, this show is just what a home needs on a weekly basis.
"Christian is not superstitious" 😂
I'm Cambodian and am the only Christian in my family. I'm still uncomfortable with writing my name in red lol.
Really? Wow learned something new haha. I don't think we may have had this tradition a long time ago but now people in Hong Kong don't really care lol
Doesn't he fly for the New Republic ?
For the record, he should be......but these are trying times.
Yup!
@@acatssoftnose3940 me too
Mr. kims broken english is hilarious. I can tell he prefers speaking korean instead, but yet he never does so.
He doesn’t speak Korean from what he’s said in interviews.
It’s impressive that he can speak English in such an accented way, and also totally normally: czcams.com/video/LW8NptVd08o/video.html
@@raymondhsu6407 It's not hard at all for children of immigrants to copy their parents' accent. I can do it and so do most people I've met whose parents are immigrants.
This is true my grandfather does not use a red pen for ANYTHING!
i was always taught it was disrespectful to write in red.
My mom always used to tell me that you shouldn't write in read for legal documents and im pretty sure that is true cause if you go to like the court house they have you sign in a black pen not any other color.
I just noticed their name on the store is in red!
that’s not handwriting.. so ok.
My wife is Chinese and she threw away a green hat I had when we got married.
LOL I learned about this saying recently
I need to remember to check for this when I get married too I don't want infidelity in the marriage
Why
I still remember the day my parents told me the same thing hahaha
I used to date a Korean girl and I thought she was messing with me about the red pen thing. It's really a thing!
We all need a few doses of Kim’s Convenience every now and then.
So funny. .🤣🤣🤣🤣
“Superstayshious”
I need an appa podcast
Hahaha !!!!
The red pen is mainly used when writing test scores.
I’ve never written my name in red so I relate lol
You can never use red pen where I come from 😂😂 It's considered impolite, and writing in red is a threat 😅😅
HA!HA!HA! red name=dead man name
Stuperticious people
love it
Well, they used to write the name in red for the deceased people in the government offices back in the old days in South Korea. Also, naming in "red" somehow meant a relation to North Korean communism as it is well known those guys liked the color red very much - so it was sort of a very strict taboo in South Korea.
Not just Korean but Chinese the same
thats offensive and chinese always weirdly like red so its also incorrect
Chinese don't write names in red too. Only if you are dead.
I still don’t write in red, I’m not taking the chance!
Why wouldn't his wife sign
Appa signed for himself and Umma.
😅😂🤣
That looks funny because my back home is South Korea.
Lol...
wait she is prissy's mom on anne with an e! Mrs. Andrews!
I adore this show. Oppa my favorite he is soooo amazing o is the hear of the show 😃! The episodes finish at thr moment coming back next year 🥰🙏
The ❤️ of the shown COMPLETE
Their broken english is so natural and funny!
I think think red pen associated think is all present in Kangleipak.
I believe Mr. Kim is still a littlestitious
Name in red
I didn't know red is dead.
He has a side gig as a sherif, and x wing pilot, how does he do it?
It's the fun story.
Tfw they told the lady the real reason the city is upgrading is some kid slashed his throat open.
Also pointing at someone with your sole, apparently it's very insulting in Korean culture but not in Chinese (my) culture. You can tell simu isn't a Korean by his posture in the interview haha
Yeah turn out it is true but, it hardly make any different appearance between Chinese and Korean people is not that different, they looks almost the same. I even ever get screamed with some of my classmate that so into Jpop and Kpop because sometime when they show me the pictures of their favorite singer, I falsely identified their ethnicity.
no just koreans, Chinese don’t do that too
1:35 WAIT IS THAT SIMU LIU SHANG CHI
Yes, Simu Liu is one of the stars of Kim's Convenience... if you're in Canada, it's on CBC Gem, elsewhere, probably on Netflix?
That's so true. I would rather not use a red pen. That makes me shaky.
This is the reason why the Korean Marine Corp soldiers' nametags are all highlighted in red: it's meant to symbolize they're already sacrifically dead.
BRING BACK THE SHOW!
CBC had actually ordered an additional season of the show when the producers pulled the plug. We wish there was more too!
Christians are not superstitious lol so hilarious
Funniest line ... Christian is not superstitious
We just use black and blue pen and not red
Even in western culture it's weird to write in red, period. You gotta be color blind or psychotic to do that. It should be for correction only.
True she should have used blue or black pen from the start for the color blind alone.
Looks like someone wrote the show's name in red ink, cause it ain't getting renewed fir season 6
In Iraq, seeing an owl in the morning is a bad sign, if you see the owl hooting in the morning that's a very very bad sign, you really say a prayer and hope for that day to just go by safely.
that lady is so rude. cutting them off and calling them superstitious instead of respecting their culture.
aeescham
and the city says oh well what can we do? Nothing comical about that imo.
Feels like chinesse bootleg drama
im not gonna lie those r like the most forced korean accents ever
That guy actually speaks like chinese..
but He was born in Korea
Dude, korean language is not tibetan lol, the writing language /letters are directly from mandarin characters with the original korean characters, and the speaking language is derived from altai(hun, turk, mongols)
funny or boring ?its very boring
This is funny?
Yes ! HaHaHa I am a Korean
Yep it is
Yup
