Hey Mom, When is dinner going to be ready?
Mom: Thursday
😄😄😄
Lol
Too funny!!
Edit: thanks for the likes guys OMG
Monday:one Day
Tuesday:two day
Wednesday:thir hmm...what day
Thursday:Third Day
I made it and it was a huge hit , very crunchy and flavorful.
Sarita Robert I'd be worried about using so much oil. What kind of pan did you use? Can you use a casserole?
Sarita Robert Good Googly Moogly! Youre as flavourful as it get ♡
So, Jamie, first: brining is never necessary to preparing poultry; brining is a lazy man's shortcut to keeping poultry moist, as when someone who cooks a turkey once a year relies on a salt bath. If you know how to cook poultry, you don't need a brine. Second, if you want to infuse the bird with spices and herbs, the time to do that is when you are marinating it in the buttermilk, although makers of fried chicken in America don't do that, they just use plain buttermilk; herbs and spices are added to the flour, which is where the extra flavor should come from - you got that part right. Finally, what is with all the bizarre sides to your fried chicken? I don't know where you have eaten fried chicken, but in America the dish goes with sides like mashed potatoes or potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans, macaroni & cheese and buttermilk biscuits. I know you fancy yourself a chef, but please don't screw around with American classics which you have clearly never experienced firsthand in an American restaurant or an American family home. I hate to say it, but one trip to Kentucky Fried Chicken would teach you more about fried chicken culture than you apparently know at this point.
His F R E E D O M, as you say, is apparently the freedom to have super bad, incredibly deplorable, bad taste. And for any chef or food presenter, that's not exactly a credential.
So, I live in a place that has super @#$%^&* good food, and I know what good food is. What else do I need to know? Why is this conversation about countries and nationalities and not about food? Where in @#$%^&* @#$% are you coming from?! What the @#$% are you talking about?
I should stop watching this at midnight
I'm hungry -_-
Dont worry. I do the same mistake every night ! :D
i just finished a joint... how do u think i feel :(
morshed arifin Uschas true bro.
You could give this a start at mightnight and eat it the next day for dinner! Perfect timing lol
Me too
I have tried this recipe, really worth putting the time in processing the meat. Jamie is a conscientious chef who does give you all the secret tricks to delicious meals.
Not anymore. He's putting mango chutney in butter chicken
One thing I really like about Jamie Oliver is he cooks and than he tastes it and moreover he eats it with nice satisfaction ❤️
He's such a nice guy, and applies love and passion to his cooking. Keep it up brother
This man and food are Gods gift to us. Been watching him since his naked chef days in that little apartment. Weekly episodes was my thing!!! One trick he taught that I have never forgotten and still use and people are amazed is the knocking a jar lid on a wall to open it. People think I'm amazing. Fan since 14yrs old, now 36
Brain said i can do this, body went straight to kfc
Haha same. Headed there now.
@Ayy lmao Spinach?
@siddharth bhawra I know, I was joking. (Popeye eats Spinach to make him strong) I guess you've never heard of Popeye
siddharth bhawra in the uk we only have kfc , no Popeyes
@@j5273 I know. I'm from the UK.
Love this recipes with a twist from the Oliver’s Twist.
Thanks Jamie.😋
I’ve made this a few times. Amazing chicken, well worth the prep time

I love to cook but was never able to make fried chicken till now. ☺️
You got to plan, but steps are not complicated-it is so worth the effort. My family wants fried chicken once a week now, a new tradition. Thank you so much for your enthusiasm and easy to follow steps.

You are the Bob Ross of cooking Jamie, love your work!
SO I checked his recipe online, and it says 25g of sea salt, NOT 100, so take note if u plan on making this!
Niaaz Wahab that explains why my chicken was so salty last time
@Joachim S. I can't see your reply on my comment nor Niaaz's; I just got a notification from you. If you're reading this, this is the link to the recipe: www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/chicken-recipes/southern-fried-chicken/
So what do you use 25grms or 100grms?
This comment needs to go up
@le Hoarderz Al-Shekelsteins yes because everyone is born a good cook and children just turn into chefs when theyre 18.
My husband loves this yummy crispy fried chicken, its his favorite, 4 times making it 😋 I love it, thanks Jamie 😊

Jamie. That's why I love cooking with you!
People: Wats the secret spices for fried chicken?
Jamie: its not *that* secret i'll give it to u
😎👏
Sensacional! Amo suas receitas!!
Anything that isn't his Fried Rice recipe is good.
Very interesting! Absolutely worth trying! Congratulations
One thing Jamie do that most cooking channel on youtube didn't is that they don't eat the food at the end,and for me that is the most exciting part!
Pro tip. No buttermilk? Use yogurt. Or milk with a touch of lemon and vinegar. Or both!
Keith Doran agreed taste awesome i did it for a BBQ
Thaanks, hard fo find buttermilk here
Awesome, will try it!
You read my thoughts! Been so frustrated about all the fried chicken recipes having buttermilk in them! Can't get a hold of that here in Sweden, but yogurt I can do. Should it be diluted some how? It's much more thick than buttermilk seems to be!
Hilding Bjarnlid yeah just dilute with milk and more acid
Mouth watering ... If only I watched this 10 years earlier. I'm in my 40s and I'm back to basics. Less sugar, less salt, less fried.......
Screw that....I'm gonna make this tonight 😁
keep on living on the wild side man!
I followed it . Used rosemary instead of thyme . And I made my own buttermilk from scratch . But it was the best fried chicken I have ever tasted so good I didn’t even need a side . I ate two drum sticks and I was full. The whole family loved it . Even my mom my wife my kids my brothers kids my sisters kids . The neighbor my dog . . . . Loved it ❤
This is so delicious. ..i love it😍😍😍you are really a great person Jamie. ..God bless you. ..
Love ya so much jamie ur my role model bless you mate ❤❤
How about letting the chickens sleep in my bed as well?
Made my day😂😂😂😂
Hahahahahaha
😂😂😂😂
AHAHAHAHAHAHA
what really makes a recipe like this special is what a family does to make it their own. it's all about ratios of herbs and spices
Well done Jamie all your recipes and presentation are very good
Jamie you are the best of the best of the best, world loves you.
Oh why not watch this while fasting, great idea.
Blu Brin I’m fasting as well 🤣🤣
Blu Brin
It’s your fault for fasting mate. Yet another reason why religion is idiotic.
Love love love your recipes Jamie! Big fan
been waiting for this to be uploaded.. saw it first on the friday night show, made it for the a few weeks ago tastes so good!!
its 25g of salt not 100g! Dont make the same mistake i did 😥
🤣🤣🤣bet your tongue was all kinds of sore🤣🤣
Exactly. After 20 hours of marinating the only thing I could taste was salt🧂😪🥵
Sadeem Rizwan who puts 100g of salt lmao you should have known that was a mistake
Am I the only one who avoids these type of videos but watches them when ever I’m hungry?
Just the love the way you cook Jamie
Mouthwatering...
I will try it definitely.
The people like you have always inspired me to run my own CZcams channel.
Keep up the efforts.
I tried this one of the best thing I ever had
Tip: do not put 100g of salt in the brine, thats way too much and the recipe on the site states that you only need 25g
J'aime bien tes recette je suis fan merci pour toutes les astuces
It's mouth watering.... Food tube .... Thanks for this nice ,healthy and 😋😋😋 food
Damn, shouldn't have watched this at midnight...

3:05 he pretends to use tongs when he's really just using his hands.
Watch again he uses the tongs as well as his hand
I'm just a 13 years old girl and I'm started getting addicted to watch cooking channels I loved to cook and specially eats😍😍 it's starts when I cooked myself a steak😅👌 and it taste good😍😍
Nice one, will have to try it out!
We just made this.. Wayyy too salty, we could not eat it !! And we followed the recipe.
The written recipe says 25 instead of 100gr. They did not fix their mistake.......
I feel your pain. Did the same mistake... 🧂🥵😪
I 💖 people's who knows how to eat. Thank You, dear Jamie, You Nail It 🍗🍻 !!!!! 👍🏿👌👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿🙊😲🙋🇨🇦💖
Hi, how are you?
You’ve got to love the sound of that first bite crunch ! 👍❄️❄️❄️❄️
Waves from Fairbanks Alaska
Wow I love this meal! Real and rich, fried and fresh! Is there a dairy free version? Allergies 😑 but we want to try it! Thanks for all your AMAZING recipies and ideas!
DAYUM. Pass me a beer.
And a peice of chicken
I planning to have this tomorrow! Brine done yesterday, buttermilk tonight, ready to fry tomorrow! Looking forward to trying it :) EDIT: so the verdict. It was too salty, FAR too salty. The meat was almost inedible, which was a huge disappointment after 3 days of anticipation. Jamie must sure do love his salt, because the brine just ruined the meat. It looked pretty good, but after the first bite it just wasn’t too good. I’ll be trying Chef Johns Nashville hot chicken next time.
Andii Mc I think he made a mistake in the video, the recipe on his website says 25g of salt!!😅
100 g of salt is just too much... if you going to make salty chicken, probably it is fine.
the recipe was exceptional. thanks😆
Excellent job
I successfully made wedge of lemon
Hhahahahahahhahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
WHITE PEPPER! IT'S ESSENTIAL
Robert Black and he skipped the pickle brine.
He just used a different brine, although if he used pickle brine instead of water he could have doubled up.
White pepper is disgusting. It's just fermented black pepper that smells like cowshit
GamersComputer not fermented, just fully matured before harvest and then the outer husk removed. And yes it has a different flavor. KFC's unique flavor profile is attributed much to their use of white pepper.
yeah white pepper tastes better than black pepper, IT'S DA KEY
I need to do this for Sunday dinner next month
You're a best , great chef .Thx
I followed this (almost) to the letter and have a few issues with the recipe. Don't just take the chicken out of the brine after 12 hours and give it a quick shake, like he says. It turns out too salty otherwise (and I'm not a salt Nazi either) Rinse it with water, pat it dry with some paper towel before you add it to the buttermilk. I've brined Turkey's in the past and had great results but I don't think the buttermilk made that much of a difference to the flavour in this case. You might have better results with yogurt like the Indians do with Tandoori chicken (it's also cheaper). The flour seasoning is also a bit iffy in my opinion (and I like spicy food) with the amounts of Cayenne pepper and paprika, you want this to taste like fried chicken not some spicy Hungarian eastern fried chicken. Add some white pepper and maybe some dried sage and oregano.
PukkaFactor I agree with what you said, I just made it tonight and found it overly salty. I’m not the biggest salt eater, but I found this almost inedible. It’s a shame because it looked so good! I’ll probably have to try a different recipe in future. Feels like a waste of 3 days of anticipation! So disappointed!
PukkaFactor I had the same issue.. Also, idk if it was because I used dried thyme, that brine was just too much, all I could taste was the marinade and not the chicken, like at all. And too salty, we almost couldn't eat it. :(
Funny guy
PukkaFactor My 2 days of effort and anticipation went down the drain. Too salty.
You just discovered how most of the youtube/internet recipes works. Looks great, but taste. Not allways good :)...
3:47 THANK ME LATER
I like his cooking style. Very talented chef
My English teacher showed us your video , i watched today and like it, that's why i subscribed your channel.
The brine was too salty, even when adding more sugar than required. The result: over-salted chicken :(
It should be 25g of sea salt. He probably misspoke.
I am so GARBAGE at frying things. This is interesting to me.
April Zarychta cook it through in the oven. Just fry it to crisp up the coating rather than cooking it completely.
m n that's why it's so interesting! My mom is magic. She can just fry it and it's perfect. This method sounds like something I can handle.
Watching this really feels like cooking is not only art but also a science
Had to give it a thumbs up. I just love Chicken. such a versatile food. I will be trying this one.
Why is he doing this outside? He’s not grilling the chicken 🤔
Because it’s illegal to cook fried chicken indoors, Friday & Saturday, in southern half of USA
Abraxas seriously? I had no idea, did that law come about from too many weekend house fires?
Probably related to deep frying whole turkeys, I know that has to be done outside for sure.
TXP9 Just kidding you ;)
I thought it was odd he cooked outside, too haha
Abraxas wow, you had me going, lol
Just buy a bargain bucket £10 done. No wait, no dirty plates.
That sounds even better
Thanks for all the 🍴 secrets, Jamie! 😻
oh my my, that is a delicious, fantastic, genius, wonderful chicken meal.
100 grams of salt.....hell no
It is too salty! i recommend only adding 50g of salt into the brine. Also, try adding more spices into the flour mix such as cayenne
Han Rong Daniel Liew It says on his website to add 25g or salt, he made a mistake on this video
I had dinner not five minutes ago and now I’m hungry again. Thanks Oliver.
Delicious! My family really enjoyed it. 🤗
