Capitalist have taken over the beaches of Jamaica. First thing, all the beaches should be freely accessed by Jamaicans. And if you have paid to enter the beach facility then you should be able stay as long as you want. The Jamaican government is doing nothing about the beaches being taken over by private operations , primarily foreign owners

In "little extra tiny thing" Barbados, as you call it, Businesses operate on the beach and private homeowners have homes on the beach, but the citizens are legally allowed to move about on the sand and enter the water freely. Businesses, private beach front property owners, and beach goers coexist.

All parishes have public beaches, which are not privately owned. Some public beach collects small fees to facilitate restrooms, sanitation, shower facilities

Most beaches don't charge to go in, because not all the beaches are private, but if you go to a beach that has a privet hotel in a tourist area, most likely you will have to pay. There are alot of non private beaches in Jamaica, but in tourist areas there are mostly private beaches. Places like Portland, St Elizabeth, St Thomas etc.. has alot of non private beaches.

Mrs. Trudy let me explain to you how it works. These hotels are all inclusive hotel, meaning once you on the their side of the property that means everything are free. So they don't want people to enter their property with out paying.
There is also 2 small beaches up the road from Doctor cave

The dead end beach was bigger than that and the big guys owning the hotel corner off a section of the beach and public have less free beach. But along that stretch is the tourist resort. There is always a vibes. The beach is nice at nights.

I love how Miss. trudy carries herself she is very much loved by the people. I have been watching her for a very long time, and she hasn't changed I love her calm and politeness. Wodemaya he makes me laugh, I love how he is so energetic and sometimes hilarious above all of that he is very intelligent man.
I used to go to Doctor's Cave beach each Saturday when I was growing up and attending school in Mobay, it was a privately owned beach back then. In those days there was another beach adjacent to Doctor's Cave called Cornwall Beach which was free. Nowadays many beaches take a fee to use their facilities, the same in Ocho Ríos and the beaches are kept clean and it closes at 6pm when it starts to get dark. There are also many free beaches so it's not entirely private, but I can understand the frustration of many Jamaicans when many hotels are permitted to fence off parts of the beach for their guests thus creating a irritating situation for the locals . Sadly the Govt has not been able to stop the trend thus more and more " free beaches" become private ones, a worrying situation for Jamaica's future.😢🇯🇲

The reason they didn't want you to cross over to that beach is because that beach is part of an all inclusive resort where all of the food and drinks are including in the price the customers paid for their rooms. So if they let people on their beach then the people who are not paid guests could get food and drinks for free.

There are many free beaches in Jamaica
Miss Trudy Doctor's Cave beach is my favourite in Montego Bay. The beach is very clean, the water is blue and very beautiful - wow! You can find free beaches in Jamaica. At dead end - little down from Doctor's Cave there is a free beach, also at Harmony Park. You are looking gorgeous in your colours. You go girl❤🎉. Wode Maya big up yu self - you and di crew. Shalom

Not all beaches are privately owned but there is a small fee for some beaches to contribute to cleaning rubbish on the beach, changing facilities etc. Beaches need constant maintenance so some beaches might charge $100 JM dollars to Jamaicans and visitors $250 JM dollars for example.

There is a free beach just down the road, just pay parking or walk in free. The beach in negril is free as well.

@@MissTrudyy Beaches in Jamaica are not all private. The reality is who controls access to the beach front controls access to the beach and in your particular case that area of the beach is fronted by private hotels and guest house so they may not want people walking through. You can go in the ocean and swim pass and they wont bother you but once you walk on the shore the security guards may indicate that its private property. Again the sea is public but the property or easement to the ocean may be private.

No one owns beaches in Jamaica, only the land. Once you are in the water however you get in it, they can't stop you from being in the water or charge you

We had to pay for the beach in Ocho Rious in Jamaica, but there were people sweeping up the leaves from the trees, and we were able to shower fo free before we left.I don't think its right that people pay but have to leave the beach by 5 o'clock
At least they are clean and well kept
The people you see cleaning the beaches, the lifeguard, the First Aid Attendant that are their to serve you have a home to go to, it's only fair.

The fact remains that NO beaches should be privately owned. To make matters worst, that they're not owned by Jamaicans. The gov'ts in the Caribbean and Africa need to stop allowing foreigners to come into their country and treat locals like 2nd Class citizens in their own country.
Not all the governments in the Caribbean. You cannot disrespect citizens like that in Trinidad and Tobago. There are no privately owned beaches here & if I might add, neither in Barbados. They have to build with access to the sea front by law. All Beach goers must be respectful to each other's rights of peace and enjoyment.

I think I have been to doctors cave once, but not a fan of paying to go to the beach so once I discovered Negril seven miles of free beach, I will not go to any other beach. All that fuss about the beach that God created. See, this is why I stay in Negril I can walk until my feet drop for seven miles nobody can tell me not to. Mobay beach is too complicated for me. Nobody should own any beach in Jamaica.

Negril does not have 7 mules of "free" beaches...you cannot enter Sandals or Hedonism II beaches...or those at Riu...
No one own any beaches in Jamaica, even the hoteliers don't own the beach, anyone can used the beach but not the beach chairs or anything pertaining to the hotel. But anyone can walk and swim.
That is only on paper. You saw what happened when they were walking on the beach and crossed over to where the property had a different owner. The hoteliers are setting their own rules.
There's a beach in Negril called '7 miles' because it's 7 miles of uninterrupted white sand.

The Earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof! No one can own the waters but the beach area around the hotels can be leased for restricted use. It doesn't seem right but even in the
USA this is also done, however there must remain public beaches.

If you all have time then you should visit the parish of Portland - it’s the most underrated parish on the island. Like the rest of Jamaica it often gets overlooked by Ocho Rios, Negril and Montego Bay, but it shouldn’t. There are so many amazing attractions in Portland like Reach Falls, Winnifred Beach, Rafting down the Rio Grande, Blue Hole. Portland is two and a half hours from Kingston and worth a visit 😊👍🏾
