Williams, Brown and Smith for sure!
They are of British origin because they were the slave owners. Our last names would identify. Which plantation we belonged to ,it has nothing to do with the meaning of the name,we are of African descent
She's delusional 😅😅😂
There's a trend now with black Americans claiming they are not originally from Africa. Pretty soon they'll be saying that in Jamaica.
Jamaica's motto is 'Out of many...one people.' Most of us are mixed somewhere along the way, even though we are predominantly black. Still has nothing to do with the fact that these are some of the most common (ASSIGNED OR OTHERWISE) last names in Jamaica.
@@TammysTopTen most of us are mix by default...nothing to be proud of..
Bullshit no slave master lastname nothing loool
Don't romanticize slave holders names. Thats why I have a scots man's last name and an englishman's first name even though my ancestry is African.
Who from the caucasian mountain in Russia had surnames of such? These surnames are ours of our coats of arms black faces you can try but you cant errace us!
Where did you get that from, that these name reflects rich History?...it reflect the slave past...you get the name of your owners
No it dose not stop spreading propaganda do your research black people were in Britan for thousands of years before caucasian were ran into the caucasians mountian from africa lol are you even black or researching?
Even in school you realized which name was common and brown was the most common.
I'm from St Kitts/Nevis and our most common last name in Pemberton, Brown and Liburd. William is common as well
That's true, Glasford is common as well.
I thought it would've been Brown, followed by Smith and then Williams. Surprised to see Campbell so high on the list.
Brown and Williams..very common
Extremely common....
I BELIEVE BROWN WAS THE FIRST ONE
Yes.... my grandfather was Anderson.....
Interesting topic. My last name is Douglas, I thought it was very popular
It is,also Davis,Williams,Chin,Lee,young
My first guess was Johnson & Clarke!
Those had to be there!
Yeah Brown is here
I wish we had our true names, not the names of our enslavers
My last name is Shirley. I know that it has English origin. My mom's last name is Martin which has French and Spanish origin.
Interesting💖
Glad you think so!
What about the name Taylor?
You Forgot one of he biggest name Beckford
And Richards! One of the biggest slave names in Westmoreland.
Really of what importance these names are wherever slaves are
What happened to Smith
Smith is #6
What about hood white
What about the uncommon surnames? Thank you for the information.
Maybe I'll do that list next
I've met a few Morgan and Gordon surprise they're not on the list.
Maybe those would be on the top 20 list
WILLIAMS and BROWN
I thought more of the “colour” names would be on the list, ie , Green, White and Black to go with names like Stewart,Stevens and Jones.
I guess I needed a top 20 list
Williams, Anderson, & Brown sounds like the name of a law firm
LOL. You're right!
FORBES IS MY NAME SO IT MUST BE THE BUCKYMASTER NAME THEY GAVE MY FOREPARENTS
SURE ITS NOT AN AFRICAN NAME
THE PEOPLE DEM WICKED DEM TAKE OUR FORE PARENT AWAY AND NOT EVEN THE AFRICAN NAME DEM COULDNT LEAVE THEM WITH EVEN UP TO NOW SOME DONT EVEN OWN A SQUARE OF LAND
Williams brown my God
What's your last name Tammy ???? I would love to know ??? 💞💖💗
Bartley....not on the list. 😁
My name is Tomlinson and I thought that it was common 🇯🇲
Not that common, I suppose
William, Harris and Beckford
What about the last name “Plummer” ?
Maybe not as popular as the others
😂 intresting
Where are the African names
Be proud of your lastname dont let people tell you it's from slavery that's a oppression tactic when they know we where the Brits of the covenant with the most high and dont have that anointing
😂
Greetings, please stop speaking things your way and not the right way. These last names were giving by the slaves masters who wanted to identify their slaves which treated them very bad. Nothing to do with rich values or heritage. Black people carry their genetics talent and culture within them , it comes in our spirit. Thank you.
Fi real u nuh
European identity
No Wright, no Channer????
I guess those are not as common as the others.
@@TammysTopTen ok
seems we are proud of being a European colony
Well we always kissing up to "mama Africa" a lil diversity won't hurt
Not all names were slave names Some were genuinely real
WHAT???Every Black person whose ancestors were slaves had their identity erased and forced to adopt their colonialists name! You think Black Africans had the surname Black Brown Richards Beckford????
C
Actually BARNES is the most popular slave master name in Jamaica, of which we should not be proud of any of the names driven and forced into us whilst being whipped . Plus the meaning of the sir names do not mean a thing to me unless it is representing our true identity, as so-called Africans .
What is fascinating about having a slave owner’s name? A rich slave history. Lol
Exactly...and we never get to enjoy the fruits of our forebarers labour
DUNCE TAMMY.........LAST NAME 👎🏿👎🏿............S U R N A M E S......✍🏿🇻🇨
Boy oh boy!
Your clearly not a "bright" individual "Tammy",wear "your" name like it's a badge of honor, pick up a book and do some research "Tammy"
❤❤😂😂😂
Umm...let's not go there, or I'll have to give you a taste of your own medicine. It's all for fun!
You are clearly rude. Learn some manners.
