RIP Denny. I’m just a teen, and when I was just getting into good music a few years ago, this was one of my favorite concerts. I always loved you singing this song too, and I still do. Fly high, man.
Time To Hide have Paul a chance to be a supporting band member instead of the front man, and he takes full advantage of it by crafting a great bass line for this fine song. To me, this song and Beware My Love are the highlights of a fairly dismal album.
Live version of Time to Hide features one of the best guitar solos ever. Short but sweet. I never grow tired of watching Jimmy McCulloch play. It's a shame he died so young.
William Werch absolutely. This song is blah on the studio album. Poorly produced . Idk. But live? It’s ridiculous how good it is. And how talented Denny Laine was with Paul . Jimmy McCulloch shows off his youthful brilliance on guitar. Medicine Jar such an awesome track he wrote.
@Bigbradwolf And I got it in the absolute demise of the vinyl days, mid '90s, for like 5 bucks, slightly worn cover, because of the store maybe having had it on display for years, but unplayed. Happy owner of it to this day, even if I haven't played it for almost a couple of decades bc. of not having a proper turntable to play it on anymore.
Old MacFartney is the famous Beatles guy but yes at least 2 of the top 5 Wings tunes are by McCulloch and Laine. I think Macca's best was Junior's Farm.

Not really. He knew Denny from way back in the 1960s when Paul was a Beatle and Denny was a Moody Blues. Jimmy had been lead with Thunderclap and was already well known and highly thought of in the UK scene. Jimmy toured with John Mayall when he was only about 18. Paul didn't just 'pick them up'.

Attitude. Not just musical ability is what made, and continues to make, Paul McCartney the greatest musical showman ever! You can see him cheerleading Denny here. He knows Denny laid down a great lyric. So he surrounds it with an incredible powerful, sexy, thumping bass line. He gives a little whoop at the beginning, whispers in his ear, gives a stunning performance as a backing vocalist. This combined with the driving insistent drumming of English, and the complimentary lead guitar riff of Jimmy, and the soulful blues harmonica of Denny (you can almost hear the sinners begging for forgiveness on Sunday) add up to an overpowering sense of urgency. And then Paul's touch at the end. That's the Alpha Male doing what every Alpha Male must do for his troop: give out credit and kudos immediately and fulsomely. Sir Paul, how lucky we are to live during his era.

Denny's masterpiece. Love this one.
