    If only an addon existed to greatly simplify all these steps it would solve so many topology problems and increase modeling speed.
    Because it would no longer require a lot of work to save curved surfaces from other surfaces that must have hard edges (ex. typically a cube on top of a sphere).
    Why is there still no solution to this? It is incredible that it has been ignored.

    This could be easier solved by adding bevel modifier with bevel weight, selecting Geometry -> Miter type outer set to Arc and then adding bevel weight to edges. No need for any additional geometry and vertex groups. Except if your intention was to tach us how to create vertex groups :)

      I agree about you in some point, but the bevel weight might cause issue when you try to uv unwrap, or adding vertex color id
