We have had a few good rain storms since the repair and the floor is still dry.

Thanks for this helpful video, I took the fender off my 2015 Silverado yesterday. My leak ended up being the cover that was glued down under the wiper cowl cover. Although I didn’t need to pull the fender, I am glad that I verified the leak in my truck was not the same cable that was leaking in yours

Techguy79, I have the same issue. The conclusion I am coming to is that my 2015 Silverado has this issue on that same side! Thank you so much for posting this!

Daniil Ivanov it seems to be the trucks assembled in Mexico. The trucks assembled in Canada seem to be fine. Good luck!

WOW! I'm impressed with what it took to remove your fender. Good job & video to help others.

I am impressed that you would take this much action for a leak. My 2015 Sierra is leaking on the passenger side every time it rains hard too. Never fails. I’ll smell the musty smell every time. I always open the door to let the weather stripping air out a bit. I’m hoping I can find an easier solution than this one.
But still, thank you for this work and accompanying video.

It was easier than i expected. I really like my truck and didn’t want to get rid of it, so my only option was to do whatever it took to fix it. I used to get the musty smell too. It has been months and still no leak. Good luck with your truck!

I figured mine out today! It was not actually leaking around the gasket that goes through the door seal behind the fender. It was actually running through the wire like a pipe dripping down inside the truck. If you follow the wire up to the top of the cowl you find the top of the wire. The tape had pulled loose and the water was literaly running through the wire just like a pipe.

Was the wire you followed up, the harness on the side of door?
Did you have to remove the glove boxes?

I have some rodent damage on the harness that you show. I wish you would filmed the process of fender removal, but I think I will be able to do it with your explanation on the video. thanks for posting this.

Seeker62 My apologies for not having a video on the disassembly, but I did not plan on making a video. It took me a long time to find this leak and I wanted to let other owners know what I found. Good luck!

@@techguy7987 Finally got to do this repair. Removing this fender was so much easier after watching your video. I have 2015 Sierra. Right where the two harnesses join mouse chewed wires and as a result airbags and some other features were throwing errors. 14 out of 15 wires were damaged. I had to add length to the wires and solder all of them. I did not have water issue like yours, but I did apply some sealant in the same places while the fender was off as a preventative measure. Thanks again.

Is there supposed to be firewall insulation inside the fender? I think I have rodents living inside the same fender you removed because there is poop as and twigs and insulation in the fender.
