The Denver Nuggets held off the Minnesota Timberwolves behind an absolutely dominant performance by Nikola Jokic, dropping 35 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 steals. They did this by capitalizing on Minnesota’s unusually poor defensive execution and forcing Minnesota to get uncomfortable on the offensive end and rely on ill-adviced avenues to rack up there points.
The Nuggets also utilized Aaron Gordon as a primary ball handler, allowing them to get into their offense significantly quicker, and it helped Jamal Murray get into rhythm a lot quicker without having to deal with as much ball pressure.

A lot of people don't understand what they're watching with Jokic and the Nuggets. Denver plays a different style than the casuals are used to, and they don't get why the Nuggets are a such a great team, or why Jokic is an all time GOAT. They don't realize how lucky they are to get to see him play in his prime.

  • @therocklau

AG running point is something Malone implemented for a while, in regular season they run this strat quite often, AG is a nightmare to defense he doesn't have a type, big guys are not faster and skilled enough and smaller guys can't block his strength and speed, his problem is is shot selection and accuracy, so letting him decide when to attack one on one is just simple logic.
Not just AG has new toys to play, KCP also has his designed cookie cutter offense, there are many games the winning period is in 3rd quarter when KCP score 8-12 points in a row in 2 minutes, he doesn't shot often but when he starts to fire you really gonna be careful.
Malone might not be the best coach, but he is the perfect coach for this team who has one of the best five men lineup in NBA history, I respect the wolves, they are a really really good team and on paper better than nuggets, but not all wolves players can keep playing on a high level, one Edwards is not enough.

Gobert, the Minnesota center, was announced Tuesday as the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year for a record-tying fourth time - joining Basketball Hall of Fame Dikembe Mutombo and Ben Wallace .
Jokic took him apart like a second grader cheap pen.
Thanks, by the way, to those who show support for Jokic, they provide inspiration, but especially thanks to those who do not show support , ( you know who you are), because they provide motivation.

Quit whining, it makes your team look bad. Nuggets have 1 all star, the MVP Joker. Wolves have two all-stars, the DPOY, and 6th man of the year. They had the number 1 defense in the league, and now you are saying it's unfair? Come on, that's childish.

    1. Who would’ve guessed that finally prioritizing getting Jokic the ball in situations that play to his strengths would work!?
    2. I think switching the narrative on the Gobert trade was premature. He still has the same limitations. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that their best game was with him out. Building around Ant without those firsts and Goberts contract could be an issue in the future.

They went worse when gobert was on game 3 and 4, they're way slower, worse offense, no spacing, getting bitched by gordon. Nuggets did some elite adjustments by getting AG more touches in the lowpost hunting mismatches, not only as a spot up or a lob threat. No Watson as a liability on offense too.

Good breakdown. Wolves weren't really in it, but with all these defensensive lapses, and considering the 8pts in 30sec in the 2nd quarter by Denver, there's reason to be optimistic. Towns needs to earn his paycheck next game. I'd like to keep the team together, but we gotta get to the next round minimum, or he's out. A "competitive rebuild" would follow. The league will adjust to try to take out Den, MN, OKC (Holmgren), and Wemby (wherever he is in the future). Gonna be the "unicorn" era lol!
