    The Vauxhall Corsa is firmly positioned at the top of the UK's list of best selling cars -- lining up alongside its direct rival, the stylish Ford Fiesta. Despite the Ford being the newer, more daringly styled model, Vauxhall has kept the Corsa competitive with extra equipment and revised engines - creating a greater value and more economical Corsa in 2010. The exterior styling remains appealing, as does the quality interior. The small petrol engines make the most sense, though the diesels do return fantastic economy - particularly the ecoFLEX model with its 76.3mpg capability.

    I've had a 1.2 Corsa SXI for a year now and I'm pretty happy with it. Get about 40mpg with about 50/50 town and motorway driving and within a few weeks I didn't even notice the fat a-pillars.

    I drive a corsa and have driven an old shape, brand new and one a few years old (sxi 1.2 engines) It's a easy car to get used to and the newer models come with cruise control which can be nice, I don't know the Ford in terms of drive but the Corsa is great even if it has a fair few blind spots you need to keep an eye on! The thing can take a hit though was hit in the back by a white van less than a week ago and it took it like a boss.

    I don't get why people don't like this car. OK the standard version
    looks boring but I have the 2011 facelift SE 5 door version in metallic
    silver and I swear it looks better than the current E model. If anyone
    is considering buying a D, seriously look at getting a 2010-2011 as they
    are fitted with the improved steering.
    I did my driving lessons
    and test in 1.2 petrol and my god, joining a dual carriageway at only
    40-45mph in fourth with my foot right down is SCARY. The 1.2 is CRAP,
    honestly don't bother with it. The 1.3CDTI in mine is MUCH faster,
    faster where it really counts like up a hill. Last week the car nicely
    surprised me when it was able to keep up with a 2004ish Focus ST up a
    hill going from 40 to 65-70mph!. The gearbox (coupled with the 1.3CDTI)
    is great. Will do both 25 and 85mph in fourth easy! Very driveable at
    any speed.
    Like the man said, there is loads of space both in the
    front and back. The ride really is a good balance between comfort and
    sporty handling especially with the 16inch 18 spoke alloys on my SE.
    The only thing about the car that can really annoy me at times is the
    automatic windscreen wipers but luckily it is easily overridden. In
    light rain it doesn't know wether to keep them on or off but it does
    work in heavy rain and will adjust the wiper speed automatically when it
    raining cats and dogs. The auto headlights work flawlessly.

      I have the OPEL CORSA 2010/2011 1.3CDTI (55kW/75PS) Enjoy Ltd. 111th Anniversary edition and it is superb! It has the full equipment like heated seats and steering wheel, auto-dimmed center mirror, Start&Stop etc. I wouldn't get any other than the 1.3CDTI diesel engine. The 2014+ version is nice, but...too modern for my taste. You can get the Enjoy or 111 editions for 4000-5000eur.

      Depends what version of the SE 1.3 CDTi you have, 73bhp or 93bhp.
      The 73bhp one goes 13.6-14.4 seconds 0-60 which is the same as the 1.2i 16V petrol, the 93bhp one is 11.9 seconds

      Yeah,its a beast. It uses a 4.6L V8 250bhp 4 speed automatic transmission and top out at 130mph due to rear axle ratio. It weighs 1844kg(4,057lbs) and has a slow shifting 4 speed automatic. Ford Stopped making Ford crown Victorias and replacing them with Ford Taurus interceptors.

    • @yusufgta4341
      @yusufgta4341 Před 7 lety

      Yeah , because its rare. They are common in the US. Newer police cars in the US now have over 300bhp and do 150+mph. US now have Chevy Impala PPV, Dodge Charger Hemi Pursuit,Chevy caprice PPV,Ford Taurus interceptor,Ford Utility Interceptor,and Chevy Tahoe PPV which all have over 300bhp. Dodge Charger Hemi Pursuit now does 0 to 60 in 5.2 seconds with its 5.7l V8 370BHP 5 speed automatic and top speed 155mph, its also AWD. Ford Taurus interceptor does 0 to 60 in 5.7 seconds with its 3.5L V6 365BHP twin turbo Ecoboost and AWD with top speed 150+mph. Chevy caprice PPV uses a 6.2L V8 355bhp 6 speed automatic and does 0 to 60 in 6.8 seconds with top speed 155mph. Chevy Impala PPV uses a 3.6l V6 302bhp 6 speed automatic and top speed 150+mph. But Ford crown Victoria is very strong built and reliable.

    @Matti6950 Před 3 měsíci

    Disagree, Fiesta looks worse then this :) (in 2004 it was other way around for me), at at 2000 corsa i like more :D
    A pillar to big? Meh, the C pillar (if that's what i think it is) on 3-door car now THAT is nasty for seeing dead corner (the corner you can't see in your mirrors), 5 doors is massively better in that. Plus in the front you see so much that it doesnt matter that the pillar sometimes hides something, you saw it before unless you were sleeping in the big front and side window, in the dead back corner that is another story.
    Lower powered engines 'sluggish' if you mean 1.0 certainly, 1.2 is absolutely fine unless you race, even at 120km/h (if you no longer speed up or down but remain same speed cruising) it's very nice sound and calm enough, not to loud. Feedback on engine is amazing. 1.4 is for racing ppl, it's nice to have but not necessary and this one looses out on power consumption where the 1.2 doenst (it wins so much in off road that the small city loss compared to 1.0 is completely compensated) the 1.4 looses big time in city and only wins incredible minorly (unnoticable on the petrol bill) on off roads.

    I rented 2 door 5 speed manual trans. corsa for 2 weeks from Sixt and drove in France and Germany. But the engine is too small, it gets more than 4000 rpm when driving in 130kph, I had to refuel it many times. It sucks more gasoline than my Nissan Skyline 250GT I have in Japan. My Skyline with 7 speed automatic transmission gets only 2500 rpm when cruising in 130kph. Gas mileage is twice better. Small engine is not always fuel efficient, it won't get a good gas mileage when its on highways.

  • @bossadave
    @bossadave Před 12 lety

    Had one of these on hire the 1.4 but have to say that engine is very down on power. The car feels heavy and sluggish even around town. Fuel economy was poor, I never got more than 38 mpg, I hired a Porsche Boxster recently that returned the same figure. The driving position feels odd also almost too high and it is hard to gauge the dimensions parking. A far better proposition is the new Meriva with the 1.4 turbo engine, an excellent little car.

    • @Matti6950
      @Matti6950 Před 3 měsíci

      Meriva with 1.4 faster then 1.2 Corsa? no way, the car is massively more heavy and wind impacted by it's extra height, in cities it's 50% less fuel efficient then manufacturer claims (so might be even worse in reality) then 1.2 Corsa.

At 100km(62mph) it does 3500rpm. My V6 2.5 liter engine 250GT even gets 15km/l at 130kph and close to 20km/l at 100kph.

    Dude throws a small rucksack in the boot and says you got lots of space, that's like putting a mouse on a donkey and saying sure he can carry a load. Why not throw in a few large suitcases so we can really see what fits?

    It handles corners really well. Ive got a b class rally license and take my other car down the track a lot while I use the corsa as a day to day car.
    The corsa I have is only a 1.0 engine but I decided to take it on some grass roots for curiosities sake. I'm so impressed at how easy it is to drift that little 1.0 around corners hahaha. I tried it on the road with a quick shift to second on a 90° turn from 60mph. I took that turn at 25mph which was pretty impressive and the traction on the front wheels held pretty well to bring the rear in line.
    It's a pretty awesome car for what it is.

    The Corsa is one of the cars that people buy just to get from A to B without actually loving the car. It’s one of those cars that drive past you and you never pay any attention to it because it’s so bland and common.

    dont buy a corsa, ive got a top spec 3 door corsa with the 17 diesel engine that i got as a work car. the looks are neither terrible nor amazing and the 1.7 130bhp engine does pull well for the little car once you get the turbo spinning but the seats are the worst ive ever experienced in a car and are borderline dangerous. there is so little support that on several occasions i have found myself sliding out of the seat/off the pedals and onto the handbreak narrowly avoiding a crash, lucky...

    I can't believe that in Britain this car would be considered a "family car"!!!! Holy shit it's TINY!!!!. How do you put 2 or even 3 suitcases in that tiny Trunk?? I guess it would require having your visitors taking the subway from the airport, so you can carry their suitcases, because I don't see how you can fit 3 Passengers and their suitcases. But I guess for us North Americans it's all about space and bigger vehicles.

    • @UKGRIMEdotTV

      for young parents with 1 or 2 children this would be an ideal car for commuting and the school run, impressive boot space, easy to park, reliable, cheap to insure and tax, cheap parts and you would get a pretty good deal for part ex when you are done with it, you could simply get a roof rack for space improvement but if space was an issue i doubt you would be buying a super mini in the first place, plus parents nowadays usually have more than one car in the house hold as both parents are working adults, i doubt anyone would consider relying on one supermini if they had a large family/passenger commitments.
      also i don't really understand your argument for 'picking up visitors from the airport' visitors usually drive to my house or get the train if its a long distance, maybe if you look at a map and compare the size differences of the united kingdom to the north American continent you will realise british people dont have to fly to visit their freinds or relatives living in the same country.

      This is in no way thought of as a family car as it's a hatchback, it's like the direct opposite and all he was saying is you can fit people in the back quite comfortably.

    • @christianplummer3315
      @christianplummer3315 Před 7 lety +2

      Gisele Ngalula it isn't considered a family hatchback, it's a super mini, if you were to step up a class you'd be looking at Ford Focus's, Vauxhall Astra for example which are consider a (small family car)
