    The Motorcycle Boy was too much for this World. He was too esoteric to see and truly understand despite being wise beyond his years. This was the inevitable end. A SALUTE, TO RUSTY JAMES AND THE MOTORCYCLE BOY.... TWO PRETTY COOL DUDES

    • @fernandomaron87

      Yeah, even when i first watched it at 13, i felt that, even without knowing how to put it into words. The character always seems like he has everything figured out and got uninterested of the world because of that.

    2:05 Right around here. Best part of the movie. When we see Rusty James in Colour, we see his POV for the first time. All the black and white stuff, is the Motorcycle Boy's POV. He's colourblind so it makes sense. With the fish only in colour because they interest him. So they stick out. Here, Rusty's been going his own way, but it wasn't until he beat the Colour out of his view, that he finally saw things his Brother's way.

      @@Dr.Gainzzz The book wouldn't have helped. The fish died and Rusty didn't go to California until after he was released from Jail. Though to be honest, I think the Movie's ending was a lot better. Helped by the fact that S.E. Hinton and Francis Ford Coppola wrote the screenplay. Meaning if she was ok with it, FFC could change it. Assuming the ending change wasn't her idea that is.

      Another thing. The fish going their seperate ways represent the people that left him. His mom, Patty, Smokey and Motorcycle Boy. The lone red fish that looked like it didn't know where to go, is Rusty James.

      The cop shoots him for the same reason the Romans kills Jesus. Why did The Motorcycle Boy come back ? He came back to save us, to save his brother, to show that California (money, success, colors, fame and so on) got no way. Listen to their father: The Motorcycle Boy is not from this world. He came back to tell us what to do: follow the river. Don't stop to California because it's only a lure. Go to the ocean.

      @@marissashantez6051 I agree with @fernandomaron87 but I thought it was more so for robbing the pet store. He doesn't take money or anything, but him taking the fish to release them would still be considered robbing it. In the book, they fire a warning shot to get his attention but he can't hear it which is when they shoot him. But yes, the cop did always want him gone and this might have just been the way to get that

      @@jessicalawrence2867 Well, I understand. But police dont shoot people who run from them, and certainly not burglars, unless they are endangering someone. Honestly, it's extremely contrived. I get thats it's a subjective retelling from the point of view of his younger brother, but still this seems like something a cop would simply never do. Maybe a murderer who had already killed a few people they might consider it because of the danger they pose. But I just dont think any cop would shoot a minor that had robbed a pet store of their fish. Im quite sure the fish would never have survived being thrown into the Atlantic Ocean, either. I think they need the Pacific.

    • @l-fo7962
      @l-fo7962 Před měsícem

      That's not the problem. The scene shows that Rusty James breaks his old image, he breaks his image in the mirror because he's no more the man he was. Why did The Motorcycle Boy come back ? He came back to save us. Now that The Motorcycle Boy is dead, Rusty James has to follow the river to see the Ocean : he doesn't belong to the world, he's not from this world anymore. He's saved...
