Part of this reminded me of a poem I wrote at the beginning of my spiritual journey, and of a recent one. Perhaps the great mabul, flood, was God's tears. Regret in the form of torrents of sadness at man's failure at that point to become the conduit and embodiment for Divine love in this world.
Flood
I didn't want to revert to poetry, ever again
But the full moon, big and orange, is burning
And before I knew it I cried and cried, and cried
For forty nine days I wept to be heard
Does God, would God really weep
For the killing of many or the killing of one
Or weep floods in compassion, in sadness
Over His creation: Oh my creation, oh my creation!
It's you who've forsaken Me, how I love thee
Oh mankind- My only child, My only dream
I intended only good not such misery
How you've misconstrued so unwittingly
