@@lady2550 I work with people needing mental healthcare services. It's not that easy. First, the person has to be sober and aware enough to consent, then they have to actually be willing to accept or want help and services, and a lot of the time you're dealing with people in the throws of psychosis or delusions. IF you actually get to the point where you reach out for services, the wait lists are long (I've seen some over a year long), the scope of services are limited, there aren't many "legit" mental health services in the areas needed most so then you have to figure out how to transport the person if they're not inpatient (usually get outpatient), which for some means searching the entire city because they're homeless, mentally ill, and wander. And then getting them to go willingly is a whole nother ordeal. Also, the quality of care they get IF they get to the point where they're actually receiving services and medication, is sub-par. Medication access and compliance is also another hurdle. There are countless aspects of this issue that are not "just that easy" as calling a phone number.
I can tell you've probably never had to struggle for much in your life. Maybe it'd do you some good to go volunteer to do something to actually help those you look down upon.
