how many Laird's are there
Ahaha you really want to know if I’ve got Laird don’t you? 😄
Love your work, Bails. Look forward to the live games this year
Thanks mate, appreciate it as always! Looking forward to the lives as well 💪
I am actually pretty keen on Gulden. Like most people, I ruled him out because of the early bye but I am warming to starting him given I think he could be M1. High kick to handball ratio, lots of tackles and lots of marks, as well as a goal a game. Popowski’s worthwhile averages say he only needs to go 116 for the season to be a smash pick even with the early bye as most teams will have reasonable coverage in Sharp off the bench.
I don’t hate the idea of starting Gulden, I’m just leaning towards starting two premo mids that don’t have an early bye. If I was going to start an expensive player with an early bye, it would likely be Gulden, or he would at least be in the top couple.
Same. I also think if Gulden pops a 150 ceiling score in any one of those first 4 weeks and you put a C on him there's 20-30 points caught up from the missed bye. I don't think you can start Gulden and Daicos though, I think it has to be 1 only.
This gives me a great idea. I think you can also still have Jordon and Flanders as they have different bye rounds (round 4 and round 5) and Windsor off the bench has his bye in round 6.
Great stuff bails let’s get ready for the year
Thanks mate! Yeah I’m keen as 💪
Great video Bails 👌
Thanks mate, appreciate it 🙏
Well done bails great team and another great video keep it up mate love ur work❤️👏
Thanks mate. It is very much appreciated and glad you enjoyed the video 🙏 Hopefully the team goes alright this season and gets me a 🚗 or 🧢
Steele, crouch, wines. Find a way to get rid of two of them for N Daicos. When he gets a 150 and wines is getting outscored by someone’s rookie you will be regretting not having Daicos
Ahaha I know Daicos will put a big score or two on me, I’m just concerned with the Round 4 tag, Round 5 bye then Round 6 tag so I’m happy to leave him and get him in Round 7 or around there if I can.
This was so good, we have a few similar ones except im thinking of starting daicos and gulden over bont etc. Still stuck a bit in my mids with an awkward amount of cash to spend on a M6-ish spot so definitely need to check how people go this week. Im contemplating going to Xerri Island after swearing never again because Grundy hasnt captivated me so far... will be an interesting first round for sure.
This Opening Round could change our sides a heap again 😂 Yeah I’ve found I’ve had extra cash like you say, which is why I’ve paid up for Bont as I think he should be the safest of those top priced guys to go around the 115 average again, to go with the fact he doesn’t have an early bye. He’s not locked in but I’m pretty keen.
@@aflfantasyfanatics your description definitely made me question why I wasn’t even considering him that’s for sure HAHA look forward to seeing how the first round changes things for you if you decide to share!
Yeah I’m keen for these games. I’ll likely do a final team reveal video next Wednesday so people can see if and how many changes Opening Round made to my team 👍
You need Bont. Both Daicos and gulden have an early bye. Bont doesn’t.
Great Video
Thanks mate, appreciate you tuning in 👍
Thanks for the awesome content all preseason.
Thoughts on Newcombe? I liked him pre 127. Especially with day being out. Priced at 93 - could you do it ??
Thanks mate. Very much appreciate and glad you’ve enjoyed the content 👍
I like Newcombe and he is the young mid priced under $850k that could breakout. I think you can definitely do it. I’m looking at it myself, even though he isn’t currently in my side.
I don't know how you like what you saw from Steele Bails. He looked completely lost. Wasn't spreading for marks and was getting completely lost in transition and relied on sole tackling to save his score. More likely to average 85 than 105 imo.
I’m not too concerned with his scoring. I don’t look much into a premiums score really unless they do an LDU where they score 38, that’s more concerning to me. That game had so many uncontested possessions and that won’t be a normal thing. I think St Kilda still won’t be a heavy stoppage team, but I still expect Steele to go at least 105.
@@aflfantasyfanatics thanks for the reply. He certainly has a great role. I'd just like to see him show some more spread like Serong did in his preseason games.
I don’t think Xerri will ever have a ceiling as high as Gawn. He’s cheap the price is right. Grundy at his best does have a ceiling but I’m not sold on him either. Especially if he’s sharing ruck duties. If he’s solo ruck Grundy would be my pick easily over Xerri. It’s a tough call between the 2.
Yeah Gawn the lock for me and Grundy will be a big watch on Thursday night. A good game from him would potentially put him back in my side. Especially if I have Jackson at F1 with the news from today, I wouldn’t need to worry about Gawn and Grundy both having byes as Jackson could cover them both.
Been listening a bit last year and this is the first vid I've seen of yours. You look a lot different than how you sound, I thought you were old.
Ahaha really? I’ll take that as a compliment depending on how old you think I sound 😂
@@aflfantasyfanaticsyou sound a bit like stato, so I pictured you having grey hair and being like 40+ 😬😂
Only 25 (one month away from 26) so a bit to go before 40+ 😂
@@aflfantasyfanaticsI was way off hahaha
General question do you think this years that the young guns replace the tried and true.
I think that’s a bit the case every year at certain teams. I don’t see there being a massive shift as I don’t think there are many older players that are either past it or in key roles that would need to be moved out for the younger guys. We could see Gulden and Green be the two top scorers then that could make it different though.
Um well we have 2 differences in are sides I have Newcombe and Mackenzie for billing’s and crouch.
Ahaha there you go. I like all 4 players as well so we may have the same team 😂
how many Laird's are there
Would you start butters if his injury is nothing and he is named rd 1.
If he’s named Round 1, he’s still in the mix. I’m just worried about him injuring the ankle twice in the last month, along with Port’s game style and Wines back in the midfield. I just don’t know how much upside Butters has got, but he has some easy matchups to start.
Thoughts on max holmes?
I think he could be a good option. Looked comfortably off half back and found plenty of the ball. It’s hard though with Martin, Amon, Crouch and Wines also all looking like good options. I guess if you Holmes you have guys to jump on if it didn’t work so if you are keen I wouldn’t talk you out of it.
Bont and dawson??? Remember your boy and Doc last year? Bails ls the door still open for diacos.
Ahaha yeah I’ve paid up, but with the value in the forwards and rucks this year, and to an extent some of those midfield options I think we can pay up for a couple of guys.
I wouldn’t talk someone out of starting Daicos because he will be the clear D1, but I like Bont and Dawson over Daicos because they don’t have an early bye, plus both can play better through a tag I think than what Daicos can.
Wats the stat on the top priced mid 6 out of the last 7 years they have dropped price.
Yep that’s a valid point and that could be the case with Bont. However this is a very different year to previous years and with guys like Green and Gulden having an early bye, that pretty much wipes away two guys I’d likely have as my M1 and M2.
Fading Laird because of a faster Crows side, but picks Crouch who relies on stoppages for his score build, and same with Steele. Saints playing faster, less repeat stoppages, how does Steele return to 105? These feel like the most vanilla group think picks and the narrative doesnt actually make sense
Ahaha trust me, I wouldn’t be talking about fading Laird if I could help it as he’s my boy. I can understand your points. That’s what makes AFL Fantasy so great. People have different opinions and if that makes all of our teams different that’s going to make it even more fun.
Steele was injured all last season and still went near 100, so I think a fully fit Jack Steele goes at least 105. And with Crouch, he presents significantly more value than Lairdy so I’m happy to put Crouch in, but it’s been between him and Amon for a spot in my team.
Could I go shoemmaker as my d6
He looked good yesterday, and with Webster’s suspension and Sinclair touch and go for Round 1, I think he plays, but he’s a bench option only. Would be too risky playing him at D6 because if he were to be dropped, you can’t go to anyone unless you make a sacrifice elsewhere.
how many Lairds are there
Might not be any unfortunately 😞
scroll down boss
Yeah apologies mate. I scrolled down after but I had to type players names to put them in. Normally I have two monitors but being in Perth I just have my laptop so was a bit trickier.

houston?
I don’t mind Houston. I’ve been burnt a few times but this could be the year he finally puts it all together. Has a good run to start, but I think I’d rather watch first to see how he goes, then bring him in if he starts well.
got love the fixture though@@aflfantasyfanatics
Yeah I do love the fixture. That’s the tough thing about it. If it was a defender I could trust more by not being burnt a few times in the past, I’d probably launch into it and start him. With a few options to pivot, I don’t mind starting him however.
