NEMOPHILA is a Tokyo-based Japanese metal band formed in August 2019, was introduced as "Super Metal Band" on their official debut was in September 2019 at the METAL WEEKEND 2019 (Zepp Diver City, Tokyo), where the band opened up for heavy metal legends, LOUDNESS and HAMMERFALL. No one could argue with the title "Super Metal Band" as all the band members are no strangers to Japanese rock/metal scene with several decades of experience between them; and individually regarded as a reputable seasoned musician.
NEMOPHILA started out as session band and supposed to be a one-off session as the "Mayu Session Band", assembled by Mayu (ex-LIPSTICK vocalist) who approached her friend, Haraguchi-san (ex-HöLDERLINS bassist). They later made contact with Tamu Murata (ex-Soramimi drummer). Mayu can't play guitar well so they were introduced to Saki (Mary's Blood & AMAHIRU guitarist, ex-Destrose), who later introduced Hazuki (Li-sa-X band guitarist, ex-Disqualia) to the rest of the band, completing the superb veteran quintet.
Saki & Hazuki are using 7 strings guitars. Haraguchi-san is using 5 strings bass. Tamu Murata still using double pedals ...with most adorable smile but don't be fooled by that as she is one fierce drummer. Mayu may have another set of lungs to accommodate her 'thunder throat'.
Despite being relatively new formed group, their fan base is growing rapidly at both local and international level. Their CZcams channel @NEMOPHILA hits 100k subscribers before even releasing a debut album and one of their single, DISSENSION, hits one million views!
Their heavy song IS heavy as hell. NEMOPHILA approach for their music is play heavy as hell with "yurufuwa" approach (means something like being true to your own nature). They are the most highly anticipated band in Japan right now and yet their attitude towards their surroundings is humbly appreciative and down to earth still.
Their bond between themselves also grow eveeyday like sisters and was particularly shown by the song Life in this performance here czcams.com/video/HFnEYhbEAqg/video.html ...this is their final song for the show and in this performance, all the band members are facing their drummer, Tamu Murata, to show appreciation and thank you for coming back to them after taking a long break giving birth to a beautiful child. During the performance, Tamu had no idea why they were all facing her (instead of 'forward' to the virtual audience like the rest of the performance) and Mayu was purposely focused her attention towards her as directly singing to her. Tamu was later (at the end of the concert) been informed by the rest of the band members what actually happened and during the explaining, they all cried before Tamu herself did. Although during the performance, you could noticed Tamu did 'feel' the emotions (towards the end of the song) sent by Mayu as their bond grown stronger together like sisters who could sense the love between each other without actually saying it. This is Tamu's first performance (minus rehearsals for this concert, which definitely needed after long break) with the rest of the band after giving birth. Tamu Murata really is the special one, a woman, a drummer and a mother, adorable but fierce.

Jayy, if someone told me 6 months ago that pretty much the only music I'd be listening to was from across the Pacific, I'd have said to them, "You need an intervention"... But, they would have been right! The innovation, the talent, the amazing production from the far east (particularly Japan) is mind-blowing. I know you've checked out Band-Maid on a few occasions, and they are THE BAND for me now. They just dropped a double video for their songs "Dice" and "Different". It's recorded live and it's INCREDIBLE! ("Different" is actually for an Anime series.) Other bands you might want to dive into (and there are a LOT, so I'll keep it to two) are Sokoninaru with their songs "Tenohira de Odoru", "Gou Ni Moyu" or "Brilliant City" (You've never seen anything like them) or the band Gacharic Spin with "Mindset". Nemophila is named after a flower with fife leaves called Baby Blue Eyes. The five leaves are representing the band members. Threy are called a super group, because they have build as a project from five different bands. The project was so successful, that they decide to stay together. Only Saki the Guitar player in the red dress has another band called Marys Blood ( from the drink Bloody Mary ), the others are noit that busy in other bands.
There is another hard and screaming song called "Dissention", but thry have many aother songs "Raitei", "Sorai" and many covers of other bands like Skid Row, Iron Maiden, Kiss, Mötley Crüe etc.. There are alsosome ballads likje "Live", ut their main direction is Hard Rock to Metal.

My favorite bands: Lovebites, Nemophila, Band Maid and Nightwish. Yes Mayu can shift clean and screams. Saki and Hazuki one of best guitar tandem out. Murata Tamu incredible drummer. Japan has many all female metal, hard rock bands. They love rock. Their song Life, has you in tears, the raw emotion of it. Try Lovebites song Set the world on fire, or Frozen Seranade both live. Another all female metal band.

Nemophila are 🔥🔥🔥🔥 This is girl’s J-Metal at its best. Once upon a time in the west this stuff used to be mainstream music loved by tens of millions of people and now it’s marginalized to a relatively tiny number of young Japanese women… Who lock ass at it. Why isn’t it still popular? Fashion? Media whores? Each new generation’s need to be a bit more crap than the last one? Who knows!
