The begining was referencing the exact day he fell into psychosis from pain and bitterness due to an immune reaction to another attempted treatment.
Ren is still in pain every day. This was tbe most recent track he wrote for the album.
Ren has been my favorite "connection" lately. He helps a lot of people feel less alone, no matter what pain they're going through. It's a refreshing power.
This one stands out on the album and that is remarkable because "Sick Boi" is a brilliant album. I think that Ren tells so many people's stories. He certainly speaks for me. Thanks for this reaction guys.

My favorite song on Sick Boi. The music, the production, the lyrics, it's all go great.
6 and 7 are 13, the number of years he has suffered. Ren has suffered more than any human should ever have to. The right treatment for him would have healed him in no time, letting it go for so long has damaged him beyond hell. The musical talent of Ren makes the subject more palatable. Happy you are doing better Jeremy.
I have been fighting pain for 13 years. Wrongfully medicated. This song makes me sob every time. But I understand where he is, cuz I've been there. Prayers for your healing. These songs help me heal faster. 💜💜💜
This song was written just prior to the release of the Sick Boi album. The rest of the album, except “Money Game 3” and this track was written a few years ago when he was in a very dark place with his health and well being. He originally started out by writing this to be an intro to the album, but it eventually grew into an entire song and is quite a way to open the album. I think the lyricism on this is an even a level above what he has done in the past. It’s the 33 year old Ren in a healthier place and being able to reflect on the past and the very dark place he was in. He describes it so vividly that you are right in that place with him. One of my favorite lines is “have you ever felt pain? Condescending, muscles clenching.”
He is saying that the pain is so severe it’s being condescending. The pain is looking down on him and feels superior. I also love all the switches in the flow and music throughout this track. So glad you got to this. The rest of the album is worthy of a reaction as well.

Great reaction. This whole CD is amazing. I believe I've read that this one in his favorite on the album. But I'm probably wrong. Many commenters make up shit. LOL. And then fools like me, spread it. I only just discovered him - via _Hi Ren_ - near the end of '23. I'm an old hippie who grew up in the '70's with (now) classic rock and couldn't care less for hip-hop or rap. Well, as I'm fond of saying, _'There's the you before Ren, and there's the better you after Ren'_ . This young man has opened my eyes to so very, very much - and not just musically.

Just want to say, I appreciate your content. I’ve been a subscriber for a while. I don’t leave a lot of comments, but I did want to say that I struggle with constant pain from an auto immune disease. I’m about 2 to 3 years in and so far there’s no wind sight. so this is actually one of my favorite songs because he does have the aggression towards pain and I do too and it makes me feel not so isolated. However, I don’t always want to feel that way. So then I go listen to something a little bit lighter. Anyway, I guess I’m saying I understand what you’re saying and there’s so many people out there I know who also understand what you and what ran and what I have, and will go through. That’s been the best thing about this Ren journey. Figuring out that you’re not alone.

In view of your background I’m a little surprised you didn’t discuss the production skills Ren demonstrated in this track?
Thanks for chiming in on this. It really just depends on the moment really. I do have a formal engineering background, but I was also a musician and composer for 15 years before I became an engineer. That, along with the medical similarities we share, and how recent those very bad times were for me, there was a lot going on for me during this song. What grabs me the first time I hear a song is always something that happens in the moment. So hard to take on everything on the first ever listen. But yeah, we all know how talented this dude is with his production! I’m looking forward to listening back without focusing on the other stuff.
