- El 3 de Febrero de 1959 en Clear Lake, Iowa, fallecieron tres grandes del Rock'n' Roll en un desgraciado accidente de avión. Se trataba de Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens y Big Bopper. A aquel desafortunado día se le llamó "El día que murió la música". Desde entonces han sido numerosos los homenajes, imitaciones, recreaciones, etc. dedicados a su recuerdo y memoria. El vídeo ofrece uno de ellos que se emitió en Televisión española entre 1990 y 1991 dentro del espacio "Viva el espectáculo" presentado por Concha Velasco. ¡Larga vida al Rock and Roll! ¡¡Long Live Rock 'n' Roll !!
In addition to the Buddy Holly impersonator, the backup singers and performers are great as well. Its like their every motion is choreographed and well defined.

Richie was only 17 when he died this guy looks like he's in his 50s. but not the 1950's i may add cause all the Artists then had one thing todays singers don't have... Pure Talent . long live the 1950s Music.

El que hace de Buddy Holly está muy bien la verdad, solo tiene un par de fallos cronológicos de ambientación, la correa de guitarra que lleva es demasiado moderna, el jack inalambrico es demasiado evidente, la guitarra fender debería ser en color sunburst, con el mastil con diapasón de arce y con el golpeador blanco de una sola capa, porque aparte el modelo de guitarra con las características como el que lleva el imitador no existía aun en 1959, pero bueno ésto son detalles en los que hay que fijarse para darse cuenta, es una buena recreación. En cuanto al que hace de Ritchie Valens, pésimo.
Amigo te la pasaste criticando en lugar de disfrutar el ritmo y evocar el pasado que por lo que veo no viviste... El rock no tiene tiempo y el presente y futuro de rock se lo debe todo al pasado!

This dude LOOKS a lot like Buddy, and his voice comes close. I don't think I've seen anyone come this close, coming from a true Buddy fan. With the right 3-sunburst '59 stratocaster, it would be closer than anything. Who are these people? I guess I only care about the guy doing Buddy-- the other two didn't really impress me.
If you give him a sunburst strato with mapple fingerboard, standard cable jack, and a leather guitar strap... the performance could be so realistic

El "grupo" que tan poco gusta a algunos es uno de los elencos del multipremiado musical "Buddy (The Buddy Holly Story)" que estuvo representándose en Londres desde 1989 a 2008, con elencos simultaneos en Broadway o en giras mundiales durante décadas. Esta actuación en el programa "Viva el espectáculo" de TVE probablemente se realizó el 31-05-1991, dirigida por Fernando Navarrete, presentada por Concha Velasco y como invitados estelares The Bee Gees. Las siglas que se ven en los atriles (Wp '59), posiblemente hacen referencia a la desgraciada gira "Winter Dance Party tour 1959" durante la que murieron (como apuntaba nayedu) Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens y Big Bopper el 03-02-1959, en el despues llamado "Día en que murió la música" por Don McLean en su célebre "American Pie".
Estos "tios tan malos" han engañado a millones de espectadores "de pago en taquilla" durante varios miles de representaciones de sus 9 producciones y a numerosos críticos musicales que les han nominado para 29 premios, tanto a la obra como al mejor actor de musical. Un respeto.

A mi parecer el imitador de Buddy Holly si se tomó esto en serio, su parecido físico con el original es increíble, y su voz también se asemeja un poco, simplemente EXCELENTE... pero los otros 2 que?? Se lo tomaron a broma??... en serio parecen más una parodia que un homenaje, el de Ritchie fue un poco ridículo con esos extraños movimientos, era imitar a Valens no a Presley, y pues el de Big Bopper... no actuó, pero con solo verlo, hasta parece que solo lo crearon para poder hacer un sketch. En fin, el de Buddy Holly fue mi favorito

Does anyone know what uk tv programme this is from? I just can't remember, want to find it elsewhere on CZcams due to the interferences in the picture that weren't in the original tv broadcast. This is the only tv appearance where Billy Geraghty played Buddy and he was the best one but Joe Warren Davis and Chip Esten were good too.

Billy Geraghty in 1989 he went to audition for the part of the Crickets’ drummer in the award winning musical ‘Buddy’. The Director took one look at him and said, “Come back tomorrow with a guitar and a big pair of Glasses!”. He did and for the next three years played the part of Buddy Holly at The Victoria Palace in London’s West End, 1st UK and International tour.
