- You can have so much fun with these 2 simple canes which not only look good but are really easy to make. I take you through the whole process, step by step, so sit back, relax, and watch as the process unfolds
The Etsy Tutorial to make the full flower necklaces is here - www.etsy.com/uk/listing/12905...
The clay I used is FIMO Soft, but all well-known brands of polymer clay will work well for this technique.
I used ½ oz (14g) of Peppermint and White, and 1/8 oz (3.5g) of Brilliant Blue and White, for each cane.
The Pink version used ½ oz (14g) of Raspberry and White, and 1/8 oz (3.5g) of Plum and White.
Equipment.
• A ceramic tile, or something similar, to work on
• A Polymer Clay Blade
• A Clay roller
• A Pasta Machine dedicated to Polymer Clay use - or a pack of playing cards - stack equal numbers of cards on either side of your clay and roll the clay between them to get the thickness you need.

Happy little accidents create beautiful opportunities 💖
They do indeed, my first reaction was 'oh no' that went wrong, and then when I looked closer I thought Ooooooh I really like that ! 😉🙂

It looked harder in the picture than the actual process. That shows how simple techniques could bring such exotic looking results ❤️❤️❤️
Very true, it is a nice easy one this one, but gives great results - thank you 🙂

Ooooo thank you!! Love these! And, I really appreciate how you tie these to your tutorial. The Alstroemeria flower center reminds me of the glass work exhibit I saw by Chihuly at the Biltmore in 2018.

Ok. I’m new to polymer but have tried this a few times but always end up with a mess. Do you have a book Fiona? My senior brain cannot keep up with the video?
Hi Kath, no, sorry no book on this one, I do have written tutorials in my Etsy shop, but not on any of the free CZcams video tutorials. I am assuming that it is difficult for you to stop and rewind the video at the points at which you are struggling? Also I have to just check that you are using one of the well known, branded polymer clays, and not a generic polymer clay you can buy online - as those will not cane or reduce in the same way. At what point does it go into a mess for you?
I’m using femo and sculpy. They are mixed together. I find they get sticky. Is that the problem . I had read it was ok to mix them. I will watch the video again and write it down as I go through it. Thanks for posting these. They are a great help, but as a beginner…..maybe I’m being too adventurous with this particular project. @@FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals
@@38williw Those two mixed together should be fine, but I wouldn't expect them to be sticky? That may be the problem, and definitley trying to create canes with sticky clay would be difficult. You can leach sticky clay by leaving it on a piece of paper overnight, to draw out any excess of plasticiser, that may help. You may find as well that you need to do each step of the process, and leave it, for the clay to rest, and firm slightly before moving onto to the next part. It sounds like you're doing everything okay, but possibly that bacth of clay is indeed 'too sticky' to cane well. Good luck and I hoep that's of at least a little help? 🙂🤞
Thank you. @@FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals
So cute 😍
