On "My Car Story" we're in the West Suburbs of Chicago on 10-20-21.
We're looking at a 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A Trans Am 340 Six Pak in B5 Blue Paint. The car comes with the 340 CI V8 Six Pak engine and automatic transmission.
The car's Owner is Steve Lauderdale. Steve’s had this car since 1983. Steve shares he’s restored this car himself. This car has the original “Mr. Norm’s” Grand Spaulding Dodge Dealer decal / sticker on the rear spoiler. Steve said “When he’s driving it, he feels like a teenager again”.

Hi Brian SD, Good advice. You're welcome, Lou
Owning a second generation 1970SS and 1971 Z/28 since 1976 the Challenger T/A has always been a car I would love to own. Beautiful car
Hi Billy Ray, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
This Challenger looks fantastic! Between the B5 Blue & the Mr. Norm's markings and signature, it's no surprise that 'Super Bee' showed up to take a look! I hope it subbed, too. Thanks, Lou!
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, Happy to read you enjoy this looks of this car :-) Super Bee Subscriber....NICE! You're welcome, Lou
Aww, that lil Super Honey Bee! This car has been blessed! 🐝

He must be a very special man because who lets anyone drive their 1970 Challenger T/A? I bet Lou still got that smile on his face!
Hi David, I'm smiling :-) Lou

My buddy had a Black AAR in High School... Such a great Chrysler ! Thanks Lou !
Hi Rudy, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Buddy's car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Mopar 340 vs GM 350. Greatest small blocks of all time in my opinion. And Steve must have broken a lot of hearts at the prom. Thanks Lou. Good to see you behind the wheel!
Hi Tom, Small block showdown! Enjoy taking them for a ride :-) You're welcome, Lou
Don't forget all the 302 4 bolt maincap motors too.Z28 & boss mustang hell even AMC got into the action.
And a shout out for my generation's legendary small block--the LS1. All great motors. I've recently become enthralled with the Mopar 340. T/A Challengers are cool.
OH that BLUE! awesome color and of course MACHINE!
I like this blue too :-)
I just dig this guys attitude about driving his car..."its fun" 👍😁
Nice :-)

You had a beautiful day to drive such a beautiful car! Took me back to the days of no A/C with the windows down in our muscle cars we owned. I'm glad the owner drives it and enjoys it like it was meant to be enjoyed.
Hi K B, Happy to read this video brings back good memories :-) Lou
A Driver 2 car with the secret car colour! I love the blue. I loved the bee joke
Hi FairRodTheCapacitor, Glad to read you "love the blue". Me too. Happy to read you enjoy the bee joke :-) Lou
The pinnacle of Mopar cool......340 six pack...side pipes, hood scoop, spoiler, BF Goodrich....WOW....yes Sir, DRIVE THAT BABY.
Hi Mike, Happy to read you enjoy this car :-) Glad you're along for the ride, Lou
Lou what a great interview with such a nice man. What is so cool is how long he has owned this car and that his wife was willing to go along with a loan to buy it. This car is so clean. Lou i hope that you are keeping an archive of all your MCS videos. You are a Muscle car preservationist. One of your best! Thanks Lou..
HI Bill, High praise on this video :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome, Lou
Very nice Challenger! And a great Car Story- imagine owning a car 40 years.
Spectacular restoration and the Mr. Norm touches are great to see.
Thanks Lou!
Hi Jeff, Happy to read you enjoy this Mr. Norms Car :-) You're welcome, Lou
@@loucostabile Thanx for adding Trans Am in the title Lou! (After T/A). In my hood T/A had a different meaning! L0L
Circa 1971, I spent the first half of that year in Hawaii, where I watched the movie Vanishing Point, and fell in love with that 1971 Challenger!
Hi Mr. BLACKHAWK, Thank you for viewing & sharing, Lou
Lou, that is one sweet mopar, and a Mr. Norm specimen no less, and to see you at the wheel with that smile, what more can you say?, cheers.
Eric, Happy to read you enjoy this "sweet" car :-) Cheers, Lou
One of my big mistakes in life was not to buy a 71 challenger in 79. We were then in the Iranian gas lines. No one wanted these at the time, bec of the poor gas mileage. I did not pull the plug, darn. And here it comes. This car is N I C E. Been a car nut since I was 9 years old. Vanishing Point and White Lightening were childhood influences. Restoring what is now a rare car, an 88 Mazda MX 6 GTTurbo stick in ticket red.
Hi Kevin, Sorry to read you missed that opportunity in 79 :-( I think we all missed it who were around back then :-) Lou
Hi, Lou! So...it wasn't just Pontiac that built a Trans Am! And if anything can challenge it, it's a Challenger packed with a Six Pack, especially from Mr. Norm! As that poster said, you're with us or you're behind us! The Dodge Girl for 1970 was Cheryl Miller, and I think Steve would say to her, "Yeah, you better believe this was worth waiting for! I AM Dodge material!"
Many thanks to you and Old Gear Head Steve for this Challenging but thrilling ride down Mopar Avenue!
P.S. "That's a Super Bee!" Haha, good one, Lou! LOL! BTW, I wonder if Mr. Norm was ever greeted with "NORM!" when he walked into a bar!
Hi iswc27, Happy to read you enjoy the Super Bee mention :-) Not sure if he was greeted at the bar, but I'm sure he was greeted that way at the drag strip. Thanks for viewing & sharing, Lou
Absolute perfect T/A. The e-body mopars Challenger and Baracuda / `Cuda have in my opinion the most perfect bodystyle of all "ponycars".
I have owned and restored many ebodies through the years from 318, 340, 383 440 and 426 cube, and all of them had an impressive handling and performance. Much better than other cars from this period, but cars with the 340 high performance small block are so superb, both in handling and performance. The 340 six pack is one of the best engines ever built.. So perfect !!!
High praise :-) Happy to read you've had many fun cars too.
@@loucostabile Thank you Lou. It is always a pleasure to look at your videoes and listen to all thes car storys : )
Wow, 40 years of domination lol. Such a great story, Steves whole family helping out. Especially his wife. And him giving anyone a ride if they want. So cool. Congrats again on getting to drive another great car, Lou. You're turning into another Jay Leno. Maybe you can take over for him when he retires. If he ever does.
Hi Sabba_Dabba, Happy to read you enjoy this story :-) Fun to drive them for sure. Jay Leno's a pretty high bar, and appreciate being in the same discussion as Him, Lou
THAT WAS REALLY NICE OF STEVE TO LET YOU DRIVE LOU . GREAT EPISODE GUY'S.
Hi Spidey Senses 2020, I agree that was nice of Steve to let me drive it and very fun to drive them :-) Lou

W0W! I'm watching this on my 65" SONY 4K TV, and with surround ATMOS (5.2.2) sound! @57 seconds in, when you walked around to the right off camera, the sound moved with you! I could hear you talking from my right front speaker, then it moved to the right rear! I'm still tweaking my system, and just added a 2nd subwoofer. When I was driving in the 70s all my vehicles had LOUD sound systems in them! No wonder I'm partially deaf now!
Hi Mr. BLACKHAWK, Happy to read you're enjoying this one on the big screen! Glad you're enjoying the sounds of these cars on the Channel, Lou
as a young teenager i watched the older kids get a cuda just like this one but it had high rise intake with two four barrel carbs it when i turned 16 the horse power died lol
Hi scrappy junk, Glad this car brings back memories, and sounds like fun times :-) Lou

Hi zo maq, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Glad to read you have a fun car too, Lou
My favorite Challenger, my favorite color...Nothing like that sound when you put your foot into it and all 6 bbl's kick in!!!!
Hi Chris R, Happy to read this one is a favorite for you :-) Lou
My ultimate dream car... And the way prices are going, it's safe to say it'll stay a dream car for a while.... Anywho, great video as ever, Lou!
Hi Christopher, Happy to read you this is your "ultimate dream car" :-) Thank you for the kind words on this video, Lou
Wow! What a lovely car! Starts, runs & drives like new & about looks it, too!
Interesting note: K..so the designers wanted the neat side exit exaust ahead of the rear tire. To have proper clearance, they employed Super Stock leaf springs..which were ofc a drag racing item, more arched
..and on a car meant for road racing, raising the ride height! Ahaha.
However for the street, the superstocks were the way to go, a lil extra amount of traction was a very good thing for, especially the E body with shorter leafs than her longer trunk B body brethren, like Coronet & road runner cars would have..longer ones having more natural traction amounts.
The full size C body cars I can personally attest have amazing amounts of traction!
.. _my usual long comment_ :)
Tons of thanks, Lou & congrats on getting to drive this fabulous Mopar 💙
Hi Tom, Happy to receive a "Wow!" from you :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge. My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome, Lou
@@loucostabile Heya, Mr. C! It's all good, my pleasure in viewing/commenting! & Give the Lord a big :D for leading you to getting to drive that beautiful blue Challenger T/A!
Hey big bro Lou! This review was epic, man. 1970-the year I was born. This Challenger is so raw and authentic-cannot beat it, man. Beautiful lines and paint color. The exhaust out the side is amazing and novel. The complete opposite of an electric chick mobile lol!!! My sneakers would be off my tubesocked stocking JV baseball jock feet and twitching out that passenger side window constantly-especially with blondes like the ones in those Dodge ads. Or just thinking about her, even lol ;). WOW. Loved seeing the old photos of this guy as a kid, too. Very moved by that. And you behind the wheel-grinning as usual (trying to not crash, too :):)! Thanks Lou! Enjoy The Superbowl. :) JV Johnny
Hey JV Johnny, High praise for this review :-) Happy to read you enjoy the old photos too. You're welcome, and glad you're along for the ride, Lou
Awesome car! The staggered wheel sizes makes the car and laughingly whenever they make a kit of this car they never do the staggered wheels....

Old school cool 😎 and a beast even today.
Hi Gary, Happy to share this "Beast" with you :-) Lou

Happy to read you enjoy this color :-) Me too.
@@loucostabile it’s a great car man. I bet no matter whats on your mind, a little ride in the car and bam back to happy lol.
Lou, beautiful Mopar! The 340 was soooo overlooked in general because of it's big brothers. The power to weight ratios in this body style was not nearly as respected as it should've been. Gr8 small block! Very formidable. Absolutely beautiful car. Thx for this feature.
Hi Audie, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this Mopar :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome, Lou
Power to weight? 245 HP net pulling 3700 pounds sucks.
@chad haire Those cars and motors, especially in the 6-pk trim were formidable. The 340's hp ratings were grossly underrated, as is your comment.
I rode in a 72 dodge Challenger 340 going 80 mph fully restored it was awesome 340s are awesome blue t/a Challengers 340 its gorgeous I apologize about the white 340 t/a Trans am review Challengers are gorgeous no matter what colour

I can’t believe that I didn’t see this video until now Lou! Fantastic MOPAR Lou. I went to look at one last year that was for sale in Southern California. Turned out to be a 340 sitting on a tire in the back of a used car lot in Santa Ana and photos off what remained of the car somewhere in the Bay Area. It was a hard pass on that car and that’s my car story Lou. Have a great night and thanks as always.

Chrysler sure had a knack for building muscle cars back in the day. It’s too bad that when the market evaporated that they couldn’t connect with the American buyer for the rest of the 70’s. But oh boy, when they were good, they were really good!
Hi Dave, You're right, "But oh boy, when they were good, they were really good!" :-) Lou
People still wanted these cars but the oil embargo of 73 put a kybosch to hot rods for a good 15 yrs.
